The fact that Niko "went quiet". Not telling us if he is alive or dead.

I would like to see him back in a future gta

If the writers don't ruin him, like they did to another protagonist, I'd like that. :)

Neither are a slap in the face. I can't even understand how people would think they are?

Johnny was a mental biker who got into Meth. How did you think it'd end? & Grove Street? It's just a street in the ghetto. What, did you think the Los Santos council would preserve it in honor of those murdering gangbangers who don't exist in this universe? lol

Couldn't give a f*ck about Grove Street as i wasnt expecting it to be San Andreas 2, but Jonny K situation pissed me off! Disappointed with Rockstar.

The few bikers that luis kills in frosting on the cake wernt all Alderney chapter though they were mixed with Broker members aswel.

They wouldn't have the balls to dump on Niko like they did with Johnny so if he came back it would most likely be in a significant role.

The Lost were introduced as enemies in IV, I remember killing several Lost members as Niko - two of whom were high ranking members and in TBOGT Luis slaughters what must have been half of the chapter;

starts at 5:30

How on earth can someone say that that game is better than V?

The Grovestreet thing was the 1st thing I noticed. I didn't like GTA IV that much so the Johnny thing wasn't that big of a deal.

They weren't really enemies, just a group of people stopping you from reaching a certain goal for both Niko and Luis. Niko's enemies were Dimitri and the Russian Mob, Luis's enemy was, I don't know, Rocco? Do The Lost shoot the protagonists on sight? Do they play a big role in either one of their's stories? No.

Johnny of course, which is why I beat Trevor to a pulp in the finale.

The lost got slaughtered in IV and TBOGT, why wouldn't they be killed in V?

Grove street, meh, it's a street.

Lazlo is the real "slap in the face" if there was one in V.

All within a few seconds...

"Hey, there's Johnny!"

"Umm, did Johnny just apologize to the guy who had sex with the woman he loves? Why is Johnny being a complete pussy?"

"Did Johnny just get killed by getting his head kicked in?"

The whole point of that nonsense was for this reaction...

Grove street kinda makes sense with how rockstar made it that the Ballas did in fact "take over" most of the hood areas in game years after our experience with CJ back in the wonderful days of San Andreas.

...But Johnny getting killed off just like that? Really? After all we've been through playing TLAD he lays on the ground and gets stomped on by Trevor in a matter of minutes. I understand that Rockstar wanted to portray Trevor as a giving no f*cks badass as soon as we first meet him but I feel like killing off Johnny like that was a little too extreme of a move...at least give his death some meaning and make it that Johnny's one of the people that Trevor Michael and Franklin have to kill to tie loose ends at the end of the game.

No use of complaining now I guess, what done is done and we will never see Johnny again other than the numerous amounts of newspapers that have his face all over them around the map that never seem to change.

Like I told someone else, you're probably part of Rockstar's target audience for Trevor. In my opinion, they went overboard and made him a goofy joke character. As the internet would say, Rockstar went full retard with him. Anyway, here's another pic for you:

Trevor killing Johnny. Probably the biggest instance of PIS and CIS in recorded history. Having a good protagonist become a drug-addicted mess and then getting killed for the sake of shock value and getting people to like Trevor.

The grove street thing never bothered me much. I didn't expect CJ to be at his house or anything, since they are in different universes and that would just be silly.

[OMG he's wearing a dress!]

The reason I like Trevor is because he's such a "f*ck you" to the video game trope of having a ruggedly handsome and charismatic protagonist or a testosterone factory with a voice so gravelly and deep it would be picked up on the Richter scale, or something in between. He's an ugly, balding, homicidal, schizophrenic, meth-head, cannibal of ambiguous sexuality. He is, by design, meant to make certain people uncomfortable and squirm in their seats and as far as the teenagers and young adults I've talked to go, they too absolutely hate Trevor. His appearance and personality really interferes with the vicarious power fantasy they get from video games and his sexuality REALLY bothered the younger ones. So I don't get the Trevor is in there for the kiddies criticism, Franklin seems to better fit that role, it comes down to your sense of humor and how uptight you are on whether you'll love or hate him.

Also:

Trevor's opening gambit was stomping Johnny klebitz to death, it's a little known fact but some people dislike him for that, go figure.

"Boo hoo, they changed Grove St."

Yeah, because it's not f*cking possible for turf to be taken and claimed? Right? Riiiight?

Those of you saying that Grove Street's gang change was a slap in the face really have no clue what you're talking about. I'm positive that killing a protagonist in such a sh*t way is more of a "f*ck you" to the fanbase than a bunch of NPCs walking on the sidewalk of a Cul-de-sac. Besides, the Ballas probably owned Grove St. first considering V is in a different canon than SA.

Firstly ^dude calm down

Going by the poll I'd have to say Johnny's death was a slap in the face. It had no point, like why did R* do it, like really just why?

But the biggest slap to the face in my opinion is the way Packie described Niko as being "probably" dead. Niko's the man, he would rip the hearts out of the V Trio.

It's kinda disheartening that it's 50/50 in the poll. Am i the only one that appreciates the changed possession of Grove St? Things change, and this is a different universe. In this universe, CJ never existed and the Families are full of a bunch of nobodies. Families probably never even had Grove to begin with in this universe. It makes sense to me and i like it. Johnny K, on the other hand? No.

Easy to say but when those who have spend their good time ( and even childhood ) playing the game called GTA SA would definitely want to see something different in a "good way"

Johnny K, on the other hand? No.

Why? Its a different game? Things change. He was still just a DLC character.

I understand your reasoning behind the same. But, why not the same thing apply in case of Grive Street?

Maybe not for you, but then don't expect that many others should also feel more disappointed over the death of a DLC character too.

SA is my second favorite GTA game and i played it during my childhood, as well. Doesn't mean i have to be blind to the obvious. New universe, new time period. A lot could change in the year difference, and anything could change in the universe difference. Johnny K exists in the same universe, and only takes place 5 years after IV. It's just not the same.

EDIT - I get some could be upset over the changed possession, but i really don't see how Ballas simply walking around the street is the same as a protagonist getting killed off for shock value.

There could be any reasons for the people when making a vote. Instead of weighing ( giving importance ) one thing over another because the loss of the other seems possibly more "vald" or "justified", it should be totally left on each to decide on their own. I picked Grove St. over JKs death but I'm not upset over those who voted JK either..lol

That's all.

Of course it's up to the people's opinion, it's a forum after all. The thread title is asking which is a bigger slap in the face, though and i would just like to get cleared up on why so many people share yours. As i said, i love San Andreas, i just didn't really see it as a slap in the face that Grove was taken over. It's just a hood. It was even taken over in GTA SA, when you got Sweet near the end. This time, in this universe, there was no CJ to save the day. I can completely make sense out of it. With JK, i really can't. It's all good, though, you just got a different way of looking at it.

Well, there is a shock value in terms of how I had pretty good ideas for playing as Franklin before release.

Something that sounds more fun than ironing. Something that would allow me to participate in activities that can bring a change to the current situation of Grove St.

Something that many around here hate the very idea and thought of returning back....lol

PeriodZeroHero

None really

About Johnny, I played TLAD and I enjoyed it but I hated Johnny as a character tbh. He kept fighting for the Lost instead of himself. He was smart but he was a naive. He thought he could have fixed the Lost but he didn't. I saw early that he still had feelings for Ashley but I hated how he would keep doing things to save her or help her because of those hidden feelings. I wanted her to OD near the end of the story but when she survived and Johnny ended the story with little money I couldn't help but imagine he would end up negatively after the story. So lets go a few years later and GTA V comes out. I see him and I am amazed and happy that he comes back but then I realized he became a meth addict and tries to reason with an obvious lunatic. Ashley cheated on him with Trevor and he knew it. He didn't do anything about it. He was weak. After the second playthrough I came to think he deserved it. It was a sad but powerful ending for Johnny. He was probably the most grittiest and toughest protag in the HD Universe but because of a woman he died at the hands of the next generation's psycopath. If he didn't love her so much he wouldn't have lost some of his friends, if he didn't love her so much he wouldn't have touched the drugs, if he didn't love her so much he probably could have defended himself against Trevor. He may of died shamefully but I felt like he deserved that death. My opinion though and y'all are probably going to disagree with me and try to flame me but those are my opinions
