What the hell happened to Mt. Chiliad?

Recommended Posts

I think this deserves an own thread.

Gta-5-trailer-1-hikers-making-the-climb.

Seriously, what the actual f*ck has happened to that area shown in the first trailer? It looked massive, isolated and beautiful back then and hyped me as hell. This area in the final game is a f*cking piece of garbage.

Console limitations CAN'T be the reason to dumb down this place to the f*cking piece of sh*t we got in the final game. It's OBVIOUS this was a "design choice", to me at least.

It's so unbelievably retarted what R* did to that place, and it's even more retarted that they intentionally made it look more massive than it is and gave us the f*cking illusion that this is a remote and isolated area in a forest. False advertising at it's best, they've hided that goddamn f*cking highway on purpose to fool us and get us hyped. Wanna go hiking there? Yeah, first you have cross a freakin major highway to get to this piece of crap called a mountain which looked a dozent times bigger in the trailer than it actually is.

A goddamn shame what this area has become and R* should be blamed for this retarted sh*t.

Sorry for my harsh and disrespectful words, but I'm so angry because I was looking forward to visit this place in the game and enjoy the nature... Now you can throw that sh*tty area into the trash can because it looks goddamn awful.

I do NOT want to start a discussion about console limitations overall, please discuss only about this particular area shown in trailer #1. You can talk about console limitations regarding that place of course, but please no discussion about LS and so on..

looks like a view taken from the west of the map, the timber lumbering area. its all in zoomed perspective point and better hardware used, maybe a PC.

someone did an actual visit, looks similar but not exact.

Playing devil's advocate here, but wouldn't the trees get in the way of any of the "hiking" you were looking forward to? The "size" perspective is a bit debatable, I'd say. In reference to the post above me, I seriously only see a small amount of difference between the overall altitude.

A comparison made by me, I have posted that before. Left side is the final game, right side the first trailer.

The snapmanic screens (left) were taken exactly at the same place the hikers were standing in trailer #1.

I agree that the trailer looks better - and very misleading. Chiliad looks much bigger, further away, and there seems to be a forest-like area.

The more I watch this comparison the more I think there wasn't a highway directly below Chiliad in trailer #1. Perhaps the highway was further behind the hikers, maybe there was a cut forest area without any street or highway. In my opinion it's a shame what R* did to that place... it looked so promising and it was THE highlight for me in the first trailer.

I imagined travelling through that "isolated forest", imagined the protagonist would be just a small dot on that "massive" mountain, and I thought that area was remote and far away from civilization. A place like Angel Pine or so. Boy was I wrong.

Trailers lie, all of them, for almost anything. Remember the one for the enhanced version, with all that dynamic lighting and a bajillion cars and pedestrians on screen all at once which was allegedly PS4 footage. pff, I'll be surprised if the PC version matches that trailer, (unmodded of course) it was too good to be true.

Of course developers want to polish their game in trailers, you can't even blame them for that. But still, this place is a major disappointment in the final game and the trailer was clearly misleading regarding that area.

This. It´s nothing new. But V´s were some of the worst with regard to euphemistic trailers. Misleading, scenes totally taken out of context, and so on.

Just a matter of time until Fuzzknuckles starts derailing a criticising thread by polluting it with his V-ass-kissing posts. I think everyone has recognized you think the game is superb, but for f*cks sake, stop your sh*tty annoying and boring flaming posts against those who don't share your opinion.

There might be more threads for this subject yeah. Just as the other billions of thread duplicates for other subjects regarding V. So stop spamming spamming my thread if you have nothing constructive to say.

This area as seen in Trailer #1 is NOT even comparable with the supposedly same area in the final game, not a bit.

This was what I was looking forward to the most after seeing the first trailer, I imagined hiking around there for hours and hours, I imagined thousands of different hiking trails going around this massive piece of a mountain range. In trailer 1 this mountain range looks miles away from where the hikers are actually standing, just look at the very right where you can see this rocky texture at the very top ... it looks like it's miles away and very high, I thought on the other side there was a big forest and then the games map would end, I thought that behind the hikers there was Los Santos ... I was so wrong ... all of us imagined this to be some great stuff, it ended up being a disappointment that couldn't be much bigger ... Rockstar fooled all of us with that Trailer #1.

When you make a constructive thread that isn't 2 years out of date and hasn't already been discussed at great length, I'll try and be a bit more constructive.

Also, please indicate clearly where I kissed V's ass, or where I said anything about conflict of opinion.

Are you just a secondary account for Official General? Or do you just share the same shoulder chip?

Things change from beta to release, it happens. People are so obsessed with the trailer, as though it's a crime that they changed things. I'm sure they could have made it look exactly like they did in the trailer, but they didn't, so boo hoo. Cheer up, Emo.

He's got a point though, these threads all draw the same points and then die after a week or so.

You just kind of had a go at him for his opinion , which is what you said is a fault of his... dat irony.

Everyone was expecting a huge mountain because of that scene, it set the tone and kickstarted the hype, the only thing different is the tree's, the rest of it is all exactly the same, its just perspective and contrast. Though you can take a Sanchez or a mountain bike and explore the mountains and you will realise it's not small, it's just because people drive round it rather than go through it

There isn`t nearly enough vegetation for the wilderness, there was more of it in the trailer. Instead it looks regularly gardened and maintained by invisible bigfeet. There should be a dense woodland that`s scary and unpredictable. Imagine running away from a bear through dense shrubbery and a snake falls on you from a tree, or being able to climb trees to see your way out of the thick forest... sadly that`s only a pipe dream in a game where two thirds of the map are the countryside, a shame. I haven`t played on NG but I gather that nature looks better now, but whether it`s more dense I don`t know. Probably not. You can correct me if I`m wrong. I think there`s more or better looking grass and such, but still not enough trees to make a realistic looking forest. Trees aren`t that far apart in national parks, it`s almost a thick, impenetrable wall of trees like on the many untamed islands of AC The Black Flag, which is another open-world game.

Woah calm down. This has been discussed before, use the search function before making threads. It does NOT need another thread.

Angel Pine is a town, with people, so...civilization.

I imagined..

I imagined thousands of different hiking trails..

I thought on the other side there was a big forest..

I thought that behind the hikers there was Los Santos..

all of us imagined ..

Well there's your problem.. you imagined things in your head then got upset when R* didn't deliver what you made up.

Yeah you're right.

The whole Angel Pine area felt "cut off"... that's what I mean. Sorry. :D

You are way too sensitive about this, OP.. while this certainly looks downgraded it's far from a "f*cking piece of garbage", "f*cking piece of sh*t" or other "retarded sh*t". Can't really take you seriously then.

The only thing that could really annoy me is the lack of a proper forests and other vegetation. Looks mostly too empty otherwise. But overall it's still decent I'd say, just a shame it couldn't match the one in the first trailer.

Edited by Freezer89

TBH There is not much of a difference..perhaps they upgraded some other part of the mountain..they always edit parts before releasing the final version of the game

I like the current mt chilliad and for me there is not much of a difference between the one in the trailer and the game to start whining about it

I don't believe R was trying to deceive anyone with that shot. I get the impression that R* genuinely wanted to have a much bigger forest below Mt. Chiliad similair to Tall Trees from RDR but most likely due to console limitations was force to scrap it.
