Vertighost
(edit:title should be USB instead of HDD) So I was reading the "Official PS4 Topic" and there is a new PS4 update coming out tomorrow, and something big caught my attention... "Back-Up and Restore HDD to USB — Back-up and restore your hard disc drive data associated with users on your PS4, including settings, saved data, screenshots and video clips as well as games, patches and download data, to and from an external USB drive." Now this got me thinking, that maybe we can get a work around for the Patch system for V, those still on 1.06 can save to USB, download heists (1.08) then possibly revert back to the saved 1.06 data. Also possibly those who are on 1.08, could obtain a save of 1.06 to use for there system somehow. What do you think is this a possibility? http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/03/25/ps4-system-update-2-50-available-tomorrow-features-detailed/ Edited March 26, 2015 by Vertighost
daltontigerboy
I envy anyone lucky enough to still have the 1.05/6 update. f*ck you guys. Edit: 1.09 has fixed car damage so I'm fine with having it installed. Still missing parallax occlusion, but at least I can play Online until the next update fixes that. Raynos
True true, could work OP. I'm actually more than happy with the current version of the game.... thats probably because I've pretty much completely abandoned single player.
Vertighost
Has anyone checked out this HDD to USB function yet? The update seems to not be available where I live yet.
S1N0D3UTSCHT3K
what would be the point of downloading the Heist patch and then reverting to 1.06? all the data you just downloaded would be deleted and you wouldn't be able to play MP anyhow (so no access to the Heists anyhow)... why not just stay with 1.06 to begin with... I'm not sure the point of switching back and forth? just to try Heists? if so, then yeah.... definitely definitely back up 1.06 if you can haha
Vertighost
Yes, exactly, just to complete Heists, get the trophies saved to the cloud, then revert back to 1.06 for SP. I'm wondering why my system can't find the update yet, been trying all day
Osho
Yup. This update sounds really great, and easy, for at least, to keep a 'working' ( and even the base v1.00 ) game back-up with all the patches, and settings to the USB! Better, if you can also play directly from the USB as well and not limited to storage only. All in all, this should allow you to download any future updates without worrying about going through entire installation of the game again and losing the last working installation, nor any hard earned progress. Someone should try it out, and share their experience with this update. Vertighost
S1N0D3UTSCHT3K
it should work... you would just back-up to the USB and choose to restore from the USB i back up my videos all the time on USB... and I usually use USB to upload photos to the internet because Share Play destroys the resolution or has horrible compression lol I've never tried to restore patches from a USB but I've restored save files and game user data from PS+ cloud.... usually just find the file on your USB and click options to transfer, restore, whatever wording it uses and if the file clicked was patch 1.06 it should just overwrite 1.
