How do you operate them in free roam/mission?

i purchased a pair, but so far all I can do is wear them. How do you activate the night vision?

When your on the accessories menu go to gear and when your wearing the night vision goggles press X/Square to activiate them.

You're partially wrong. You can use them at any time by opening the interaction menu, selecting them and pressing the respective button (Square for PS, X for Xbox). However using them during the day blurs everything to a degree where they are useless, so it's best to use them at night.

They can be turned on during day time but it's pointless since you're using them the wrong way plus you can't see sh*t (as expected).

They should do. There should be a button icon indicating you can turn them on. If you can't see that, all I can assume is they're bugged for you.

You need to be outside, and you need to equip them then use the interaction menu to turn them on. They don't work in your apartment!

He meant X for Xbox users since that's their equivalent of Square.

 

So open your interaction menu > accessories > gear > night vision goggles

 

When you're highlighting the NVG, you should see an option at the bottom right corner which says "Activate" when you press Square

^This. Darkness akin to what night is in Dying Light would be awesome. Changed the brightness settings to make night darker than the default and its alot more useful. Night vision working under water is something i didnt expect. Spent a whole night swimming and getting my lung capacity up after i found out. Lol

Yeah you can, You can also wear 2 gears at the same time. PS not sure if you can take the helmet off after this, i'll try that later.

Rebeather/Night vision/glasses

 

It just goes like this:

 

First you do the wear a bp helmet + mask glitch

Then you save that as a costume.

Next you glitch on face gear + bp helmet 'works the same as with masks'

 

Now you save that costume.

 

After thats saved, find a new session.

 

Go back to your dressing room, swap through saved costumes or regular full outfits and you should see the most crazy combo's of that face gear, helmet and all that stuff.

Lets take the pilot outfit:

 

 

Select the costume with the gear on it, which ever one you like 'even if its a saved one'

 

 

Now it will keep the new added gear. However to save it, save this costume again over the old one. And from now on, this costume will have all the extra's. Oh and night vision will still work.

 

It may take a few tries, but this just works fine for me. Find it out by accident i must say.

 

 

Same goes for cloning Chop in sp, also happend on accident.

Then I remembered I had NV and switch them on. Boy, did it improve visibility by 80%. It gave me a huge advantage because I could see him WAAAYYY before he could see me. He actually wrote me asking was I cheating because before I turned them on we were pretty much going kill for kill, but then I started repeatedly killing after activating them (because of superior visibility) leading him to believe I was cheating. Definitely makes the wilderness battles way more fun. The people that say they don't work and are just cosmetic, aren't using them where they should be used. I found them very useful out in the mountains. Me and a random were having a PVP battle that spilled out into the countryside. They definately work great outside of the city. The goggles have saved me many a time while collecting my planes or choppers when leaving my grapeseed safehouse and encountering that gang attack at the airfield. Not being able to identify who has the minigun will put you in a world of hurt. I think theyre pretty useful despite the fact it only increases visibility and doesnt outline enemies.
