I am currently with Talktalk and have found that my GTA5 online experience is hampered by my internet supplier.

 

I had always thought it was everybody else that was lagging and bouncing around, but have over the last year had a creeping realisation that it was actually me causing the problems in sessions. Tonight was the final nail in the coffin when all my crew were remarking upon how I was bouncing around, standing still after being killed and generally behaving in a way that screamed 'BAD INTERNET!'. I've had enough of being killed whilst believing I was behind walls and behind cover, to actually find out that I was in open ground the whole time.

 

Looking into the problem it appears TalkTalk are terrible for gaming needs. I am now strongly considering going with a new supplier. I did what that thread by Moseph suggested and it came back that my internet is absolutely garbage.

 

My question is what providers do other UK based players use on here, and what advice would you give as to the best and reasonable option to buy?

Not quite. Thank you for teaching me that that is not a correct use of quotation marks in English. We learn something every day.

If I would like to nitpick I would point out I didn't call you anything at all. I asked a question, I did not make a statement.

 

But that aside, I was obviously not being very helpful and the tone of my comment was not all that friendly. For that I apologize.

Go with Plusnet, Cheaper and better service than BT. If you can, try another router, filter and adsl cable first just in case there is a fault with any of them

Check on their websites to see first if you can get their service, then have a look at the details/deals/etc.

Go Time Warner Cable! I usually can play with 0 lag, and have 20 MBPS internet speed. I recommend just upgrading your internet speed to something like 15 or 20 MBPS.

 

You thought everyone in the freaking world but you was lagging and it took you another year to realise it was actually you? Does "motters" mean "stupid"?

Dude just chill... Also you spelled Realize wrong.

When i was with BT it was about £40 a month, I get the same speed and phone package as BT but for £24 a month with Plusnet

Realise and realize are both right, but it is more commonly spelt with an s in the UK

I'm pretty sure we don't have Time Warner in the UK.

He might not have Fibre optic in his area yet, Not all of the UK has it, Where i used to live we could only get up to 2mbps ADSL2+ but a few streets away has Fibre optic running at around 50mbps.

Yeah it depends on where you live and if BT Out Reach has been around and upgraded the main box or added a 2nd one.

 

I live in a village and they did one side of the main road first, then the other and then where we live.

 

They had/have special offers on for either free broadband for 6 months or 1/2 price for 6 months depending on which package you choose.

 

O.P. just put your landlind or postcode in the box on the following page and it will tell you if you can get super-fast broadband or not:

I ran my postcode through that check on the link, and it appears my street is good to go. I may lump with them in the next few days then. Time to package hunt. Thanks to all who contributed to the thread.

No probs, if you already have your landline with BT - you would just get one bill obviously.

 

Worth checking around to see if any of the other providers can offer better deals on super-fast broadband.

 

We went with the slightly slower super-fast option as the maximum speed we can get is not a lot higher than the maximum speed that package offers :lol:

BT f*cked up gaming when they updated their firmwire on January 23rd. Apart from that (which they didn't fix yet) they're solid :lol:

Is that on their homehubs? When i was with BT i never used mine as it was awful for streaming Netflix and I couldn't adjust my SNR to get better speeds.

Yeah home hub 2-5 have been affected.

 

You have to disable upnup on your router and ps3 to sort it out. Also typing in a manual IP (which I currently haven't got on me) into the ps3. That brings online gaming back to normal, especially GTA.

Might be worth getting a better router i use a Bipac Billion 7700n and it works perfectly, I only used the hh when i had line problems and needed to try another router.
