How do i guaranteeingly kill the merryweather pilot?

I'd like to pilot the merryweather chopper myself rather than riding it, but there's a 89% chance of the pilot successfully escaping. Is there a way to guaranteeingly kill him 100% all the time?

Since this topic came up, anyone know what the "punishment" time is when Merryweather refuses to do anything for you after you kill him? I'm guessing at least 15-20 min. real time?

Not 90%, not 88%, specifically 89%. Interesting.

 

The Merriweather Pilot dies 100% of the time for me because I shoot him in the head after he lands. This has never been an issue, ever.
