The medals are based on accuracy, headshots and damage taken.

 

It's scored on a standard curve, so if you imagine it as scores out of 10, platinum down to bronze could score 10, 9, 8 and 7 respectively. So bronze doesn't mean you sucked, necessarily - you could have simply pulled 3 headshots less than the platinum guy.

 

Also, you can get awarded by default. If everyone else sprays bullets and you take a single headshot, your accuracy will sit at 100%, almost guaranteeing a platinum.

 

So, yeah, possibly a bit broken and not indicative of your personal execution of your role. Probably best not to get too hung up on medals.

 

There's also something about objectives in there as well... like the prison plane part - I normally fsee whoever flies the plane gets the platinum... so perhaps the objective gives like a 1/3rd or more towards the medal scores..

No, just the three criteria above. Pilot in the Prison heist stands a good chance of getting Platinum as he takes no shots or damage, keeping his rating at 100%. By the same token, Ground team sprays bullets and gets hurt, so less likely to come in top score on those (unless they headshot every guard).

provide something to tease the people you played the heist with. I think your experiences with random are just because they're randoms who rush to the objective (can you blame them?). The setup missions with two teams already promote competitive cooperation, it's not a big deal, there's always plenty of teamwork.

Just to add, when I get the platinum medal, it feels good and I give out a cheeky "hell yes!" So I think it's just a bit of fun no need to get so uppity about it

I've clutched missions and gotten bronze. How could everyone be judged if they each have different roles? I don't think it needs to be got rid of, I don't think the ranking actually affects anything.

The medals are really pointless, but unless you play with stupid people who think they mean anything and give you sh*t for getting only silver or bronze there is not really any harm done either. And you have to be quite stupid to think they are anything but random-ish nonsense.

For example when two guys who have done the exact same things during a mission and during the escape one of them shoots at pursuing cops and the other one does nothing at all, 9 times out of 10 the one who did nothing will get the better medal. (Apparently the missed shots while firing bursts from a moving platform count more than the contribution for actually killing pursuers.) Or when two team members pull off a perfect stealth mission during their part of a setup and the others cause all kinds of mayhem with lots of shooting the stealthy guys will inevitably get silver and bronze. (Perfect mission < killing stuff.) Also, even when two guys do the exactly same things during a mission one of them will get a better medal than the other one, and even when everybody does a totally stellar job one has to be the "loser" who gets bronze.

I really can not tell what they were thinking implementing this rubbish.

I got back into doing heists a little more recently and have been trying to work some more to get chrome rims and finish up the platinum award for platinum medals and man... Fleeca Heist is f*cked. If you drive the Asea (or maybe just the Granger) on the first mission you get a platnium. If you drive the Kuruma in the second mission you get a platinum. If you're the driver on the last mission you get the platinum. I had a feeling that's how it worked as I constantly kept taking the hacking/driller role the last several playthroughs as all of the hacking mini games are fairly easy for me.

 

Anyway, I decided to drive for a change. First mission I replayed several times. I'd run to the Asea and hop in and the other guy would quit. Had it happen four or five times in a row. These were all level 12-60 guys, you'd think they'd be happy with the cash. Finally, I got some level 100+ guy who didn't seem to care. I let him take the Kuruma back in the second mission so he got one platinum. Invited him back for the finale and set him as the driller and gave him 65% of the cash so he made north of $100k between the setups and the finale.

 

Also, I did Series A earlier this past week and managed to get 4 platinum awards throughout those setups. I'm not sure what those platinum awards entail but I seem to get them a lot.

I started the yatch setup mission. To start things off, on our first attempt, EVERYONE and I really mean EVERYONE got into my car, so I had to go to the boat. Okay, no biggie. The BIGGIE started when these asshats started to shoot the guards without taking cover, like if carrying coke in less time was going to pay you better you POS... Anyway, we made it through our 6th attempt and we got all the coke. I decided to pick up the helicopter since it was parked on the platform. I was waiting for my crew to enter the heli, when suddenly this f*cking piece of sh*t goes ahead and forces me out of the heli, leaving the yatch with just him and another guy. I raged so hard that I started to spawn kill him just as we came back to free roam.

I did the same Series-A "Heist" setup with the coke with randoms. Everything went well, everyone got out of the boat and split and rendezvous at the warehouse at the bottom of the freeway. One motherf*cker got got there quickly with me. We were waiting for the other two to get to the rendezvous. This motherf*cker started shooting at the car right next to me while he was standing right on top of it. Long story short, the son of a bitch blew it up and killed himself right before the last one showed up. Raged so hard and went on a swearing and spawn kill rampage. Killed him thoroughly 50 times until he left the session.

I get platinum by ignoring the jets and shooting stuff in the prison.
