What are the chances the pc version won't suck like the new consol

Recommended Posts

Anyone think they will fix this game or are we looking at another bug infested crap port that will have even more bugs than the original version like the new gen console version did? I know I won't be buying it on release day. I'm awaiting quality reports and won't buy at all if they fix nothing. New console version was a huge disappointment, hard to believe they screwed it up so badly. I hope they get the pc version right but so far they aren't instilling much confidence. Maybe modders will be able to fix it, you think? lol!

if youre under the assumption it will be be "bad like the new consoles" then dont buy it.
I played it on Xbone at my mates place and its exactly the same but looks better. If you are expecting new content then youre going to be disappoint.
Simple concept really, same game but looks better and feels smoother

I was hoping for bug fixes and fixes for stuff they halfassed due to old gen hardware limitations, like the police ai spawning right on top of you. However they didn't really improve anything gameplay related besides the graphics and a little larger keep alive world area. They actually added more bugs like certain vehicles no longer spawn correctly in traffic on new gen, passive mode icon no longer works, etc. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

So we can expect all the same bugs and no improvements taking advantage of better hardware? I wish they'd do a beta and take suggestions.

I'm interested to see what extent modders can improve it if Rockstar is unwilling/unable. It's got so much potential. Custom controls and ai behavior modifications would be a good start.

Lol, well it's peer to peer so the"servers"are really just for character data and player created job content storage, maybe they can improve the netcode and matchmaking. :D.

They should go back to central servers, this peer to peer stuff is ruining competitive gaming.

Why? So we can sit in an empty matchmaking lobby for hours like Max Payne 3? F*** that.

They should just allow users to create dedicated servers like Battlefield.

That would be even worse, way too many servers to find populated ones, servers shouldn't be empty if anyone is playing the game, but given Rockstars matchmaking fail in gta 5 perhaps they used a similar crap system for Payne, I'm not familiar with it as i never played it online, had better games at the time

If they had a server browser, it would be easy to get ones that are not empty.

What is exactly wrong with the PS4 and Xbox One versions compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360?

I can only think of a few minor things. There are other things that I felt should have been improved but this list only includes things where last gen had an advantage, which is only minor stuff.

-747's don't spawn at the airport. Only one with a guy in it by the back. I saw one spawn in its original location where they spawned on last gen once.

-Pure Black Window Tint is unavailable.

-The Game Store doesn't take you out of the game. (Technically this is to patch all the glitches, but I used to use this to quickly get back into GTA Online if I left my console on while I was gone.)

-Something sounds off about Bob Seger's song, Night Moves on Los Santos Rock Radio. It sounds a little "echoed" to me. This is on PS4. If this bug is on PC, I may replace it with a different copy of the song. One that sounds right and has the full song.

-The airport fence is not breakable. On last gen, parts of it were breakable, but the parts close to the gate were not breakable.

-DLC cars have to be purchased, and aren't available in the special vehicles menu. (This could be seen as a plus or a minus, depending on how you look at it. I think the same applies for weapons too.)

-Dynamic shadows do not render at a certain altitude. About 75% above sea level/25% below height limit. (Not sure if on LG)

-Weird pixelation bug at a specific angle when looking at the water reflection in a small spot. It is looking west from the airport, your up as high as Mt Chilliad above the airport looking west, you see a small square of pixels on the shoreline. You have to be looking at the right angle. (Not sure if on LG)

There are issues that are excursive to certain patches which aren't listed here. A big current gen exclusive bug right now is the lack of tessellation, but that doesn't count here as last gen didn't even have it in the first place. Their minor. Just ones that I noticed. Current Gen is the best version of the game as of now, more specifically, the PS4 version due to slightly more vegetation (unless this was changed in a patch on XB1), and the use of the controller. The PC version will be better obviously when it comes out. Though, I won't at all be surprised if there are a few extra issues here and there. That tends to happen when Rockstar re releases a game, but I feel that the PS4 and Xbox One versions are the ones that had the least issues from their original release, compared to the past GTA's. I wouldn't be surprised if any issues are fixed from the current gen version, but I do expect there to be some minor issue that I'll only notice once someone points it out. But if the issues are like the PS4 and Xbox One issues that I noticed, they will be easy to fix via modding.

But there will be small minor downsides to the PC version. Just to list a few from past GTA's which really are no big deal.

GTA III: (Original version: PS2)

-Lack of Xbox Graphical updates

-Missing track on Double Cliff FM (PS2 exclusive)

GTA VC: (Original version: PS2)

-Missing tear gas spawn

-Lack of Xbox Graphical updates (fixed with modding)

-Some missing props here and there

-Missing track on Flash FM (PS2 exclusive)

GTA SA: (Original version: PS2)

-No blurred aircraft rotors

-No double rear wheels on bob cat

-No moon phases

-Missing props in LV

GTA IV: (Original version: Xbox 360 & PS3)

-Vehicles don't cast dynamic shadows (NOT FIXED VIA MODDING)

-Z Fighting (NOT FIXED VIA MODDING)

-Lag and pup ups (Fixed by the simple advancement of technology)

GTA EFLC: (Original version: Xbox 360)

-Same issues listed under GTA IV

-TBOGT vehicles didn't have working lights.

-Bahama Mammas has an improper shader causing some textures not to render.

And here are the list of mods to install to make the PC versions of these games not have these issues and wind up being the best version.

GTA V will get the same treatment and the PC version will be the best version to have no doubt once it gains all the console advantages, which again is minor stuff.
