The "Live a Little" Achievement/Trophy

So its the 8 million figure that bothers you? I'm sure it is no coincidence that a $100 shark card gets you the same amount. It's not a conspiracy. It's not a secret. R* sells cash cards, that's their business model.

huh? none of it bothers me. i'm just saying for all the sh*t he got, OP has a point. the achievement is there to entice people to buy cash cards. that's all.

it's canny/crafty/crappy of r*/t2 to do that but that's how it works these days. he has a legit grievance.

but, fwiw, i stand on the opposite side of the fence to you regard cash cards/free dlc. however, like a few others here, i've done that debate to death. it is what it is.

Agree to disagree. But I don't fully disagree either.

I agree that the achievement is to entice those who would spend $100 on virtual currency, but also to satiate people like me who already have the 8 million.

And as far as the business model is concerned..

I like this game. I'm going to spend countless hours playing it. I'd happily pay for DLC. I'd happily pay a subscription fee. But, and it's a big one, I'm overjoyed to not pay ANYTHING beyond the initial $60. I'm totally fine with the way they have balanced micro transactions.

Edit: alas, the cash card debate is indeed played out. I get OP's grievance. I may empathize, but I certainly don't sympathize.

The achievement requires you to spend eight million on heist items, it never specifically tells you what to buy within the heist items. Therefor you have no right to complain about how the prison bus is a waste of money, newsflash don't get what you don't want to buy or don't get the achievement at all if you're bitching about it so much.

Then you redirect everything you said to saying Rockstar wants you to buy shark cards, pathetic.

No it says heist vehicles.

However, if you buy a Hydra, Valkayrie, Insurgent (Pegasus Variant), Savage I believe that's about 8 million right there. And that's leaving out the Karin Technical.

You don't need to buy a Kuruma, Guardian, Casco or personal Insurgent.

...Yes exactly what I said. No specific items.

Items could mean clothes, masks et... not just vehicles.

So that 8mil figure is just a coincidence??

Cash card threads may well be played out, but their existence still underpins/undermines everything else in the game. They're a cornerstone of gtao so they'll always be a point of reference, both for the players & r*/t2. You & I may have made our peace with them (in different ways) but it's still legit people be affected by them because they are such a driving force in the gameplay.

Could be...or it isn't...matters not as getting this award means nothing as Bloatedsack so eloquently stated.

I knew I would get the award cause I prepared to buy whatever I wanted BEFORE the award was known. So dropping $15 million was guaranteeing the achievement would be mine. Did I buy sh*t for the achievement? Hell no. I bought it cause I wanted it.

Now if OP and others like him/her are so OCD that they need every achievement/trophy even for sh*t they don't want...I'd be more apt to suggest a therapist for them versus launching into another tired CCC Theory in support of the unhinged.

Hmm.. maybe this achievement wasnt meant for you.

I've been saving for a rainy day since before the business update. Also just completed criminal mastermind. I'm sitting on 52 million. I think this achievement was meant for me instead.

Also, the armored karuma is a beast. It handles well, IS fast (considering how well it protects its' occupants) and waaaay cheaper than a chrentorno.

How the F UCK do you get 52 mil without exploits or shark cards?

Maybe you should have saved money like everyone told you to do

Also being on the grind and doing challenges when they were available is a nice way to stay rich in the game

I made around 1.2 million in 4 days (without the Heist stuff)... like I said if you have a couple of friends it's really easy to make some cash

if you think the achievement/trophy is stupid why do you want to get it.

your contradiction makes me question your sensibilities.

Cause I had all the Achievements before the Heist Update and If I play a game very often I always want all of them

And I DID save cash (8 mil of the 12 million in total)

Playing the game without obsessing over money, wasting time and money in freemode, and spending sensibly?

I dunno, I must be playing this game wrong or something coz I had $32MM at time of hists release, have never really wanted for money after the first couple weeks, and somehow never was forced to buy a cash card.

Where did I go wrong?

Bit harsh that. There's entire forums/message boards dedicated for people who want to complete/platinum their games. Most achievements/trophies, however difficult or awkward, are generally tied into gameplay. This one in particular is built to entice those people to buy cash cards.

Edit - & even if some people do suffer from OCD then that's even worse, r*/t2 taking advantage of their illness as opposed to their stupidity.

Your lack of empathy or understanding is saddening, frankly.

I wouldn't call it grinding.. but many people would.

That's my play style from day one. I spend 95% of my play time in jobs.. as do most of my online friends. We like doing missions, and LOVE doing heists (hate trying to connect though hahaha)

Main character is level 391 and second (female) character is level 438.

They probably are trying to sell more shark cards, like you said. They are trying to make money, first and foremost, like any business. That is not surprising.

There is a logical solution to this problem. Just boycott anything that requires you to spend exorbitant amounts. This achievement is a great example. There are a lot of other ways I use to save money.

I don't buy any paintjobs that cost over $1000 unless I plan to keep it for months. I also don't buy a lot of vehicles, unless they are ones I will use a lot. I don't buy expensive face paint, masks, or outfits. I don't use explosives, at all, ever, because they are so expensive and my combat MG or assault shotgun usually works just as well.

BTW, I'm a level 240 player with $23M in the bank. I don't waste money on trivial things on basic principle, though. I refuse to indulge in things that are clearly exorbitantly priced and designed to sell shark cards.

The ones who do seem to waste the most money on this crap almost always seem to be young, low level players...then they complain they have no money. Betting their parents are buying them shark cards. Just don't buy into it man, simple as that.

It make sense because the Valkyrie cost 2.8 million yet the savage cost 1.9 which makes me think the orginal cost was around 1.6 million. Then the technical price is outrageous 950,000 for a mini gun mounted no armored crap. Rockstar had like 3-4 hot fixes on the money glitches yet they still haven't fixed the pacific glitch which they are wanting people to buy their shark cards.

Sometimes the truth is harsh.

Not as sad as your "appeal to pity" logical fallacy.

oh i agree the truth hurts, but you're wrong. you're being unfair & overly critical of something you've no understanding or compassion for. the truth is the achievement/trophy does mean something to those that care about it.

I have more of a clue than someone who in failing to prove a Cash Card Conspiracy Theory, goes on to do a rant about how insensitive I am towards those with OCD and their plight.

You keep jumping around with your arguments, cause they hold no merit.

But thanks for the ad hominem slap down. It was refreshing.

Seriously: WHAT WERE THEY thinking? It requires to spend EIGHT MILLIONS on vehicles added with the heist-update. Eight millions? I'm Level 121 and I have just finished the last Heist as a Leader and now I have a total incoming of around 12 million? Is Rockstar expecting us to play the heists with all the disconnects and hours of waiting over and over again in order to get that cash?

I hate it, since I don't want most of the new vehicles. Seriously, whats so special about that armored Kuruma? It's ugly, it's slow and it's too expensive. Yes, it's armored, but every car I own is armored 100%, so what's the sense. Or that Bus for like 500.000? That's stupid and it really sucks that you have to waste millions of dollars in order to get this achievement/trophy. But hey, I guess Rockstar is still interested in selling shark cards, right?

I guess it just comes down to players and what they WANT to buy. Everyone has there own preferences and we shouldn't chew them out for that. I bought almost everything from the update and I unlocked this trophy. Did it feel rewarding? Not really as Its just basically a participation award.

Pls

If you care that much about the achievement... go play the game, follow Furry's post. It's 8mil lol... its not impossible... as a matter a fact it's very very doable.

You know aside from buying shark cards you can actually play the game and earn the money over a period of time by replaying heists or 1 of the hundreds of missions or activities. It's not Rstars fault or the shark cards fault people need instant gratification.

Buy 16 armoured Kurumas at $525,000 each, which costs $8,400,000 in total.

Sell said Kurumas for $315,000 each, which will bring a total reimbursement of $5,040,000.

Total expense to get the award is $3,360,000.

Bosh.

Hey watch it... This is the internet, not a place for intelligence. You have been warned.

O/T: It wouldn't be "an achievement" if it was easy. Not one of those participation ribbons you get just for showing up.

(Not that spending 8 mil [or 3.3] in this game is any kind of challenge.)

I bought enough heist vehicles to get the award yesterday, and there are only 2 I regret buying...

The 2 you unlock before doing any heists, the Guardian (which is basically a SandKing that isn't as good to drive as a SandKing) and the Enduro bike.

I have used that once after I bought it, and once today to do one of my daily challenges (participate in a bike race).

I already have a Sandking and don't do many bike races so next time I am only they are getting sold

In order to get the Trophy, you need to spend $8m on the new vehicles.

You might want to buy everything if you are a 'completionist' but that would cost a lot of $GTA!

Hydra: $3,000,000
Valkary: $2,850,000
Savage: $1,950,000
Insurgent Pickup: $1,350,000
Velum (Elitas Travel): $995,000
Technical: $950,000
Lectro: $750,000
Casco: $680,000
Insurgent: $675,000
Prison Bus: $550,000
Karin Karuma (Armoured):$525,000
Vapid Guardian: $375,000
Dingy (Dock Tease): $125,000
Karin Karuma: $95,000
Mesa: $87,000
Declass Buritto: $65,000
Dinka Enduro: $48,000
Boxville: $45,000
Mule: $32,500
Total: $15,147,500

There are also some non-new Heist Update vehciles for sale at Southern San Andreas Super Autos.

If you don't want to buy some of the above military vehicles, or just need something to buy to get the figure up to $8m, you can buy (and then sell if you like to save space in your garage/s):
Canis Seminole: $30,000
Bravado Rumpo: $13,000
Ocelot Jackal: $60,000
Ubermacht Oracle XS: $82,000
Benfactor Schafter: $65,000
Cheval Surgee: $38,000
Bravado Gresley: $29,000
Dundeary Landstalker: $58,000
Pricipal Nemesis: $12,000
Total: $387,000
Grand total: $15,534,500

I have bought the following:

Hydra: $3,000,000

Savage: $1,950,000
Insurgent Pickup: $1,350,000
Casco: $680,000
Karin Karuma (Armoured): $525,000
Vapid Guardian: $375,000
Karin Karuma: $95,000
Dinka Enduro: $48,000
Total: $8,023,000

I also bought the Dinghy, just cos I didn't own a boat and now my character has the little 'boat' icon on their player-card :santa:
