Some guy send me a dead threat

Yet another example of why game ratings are important. I have nothing against kids playing video games, and if they're mature enough or know how not to scream into headsets, I couldn't care less if you play a game that you're not old enough for. But Jesus Christ in heaven above, unless the guy who threatened you works for the NSA, why on earth would you take a death threat like that seriously? No offense, but kids like this are just piling onto the reasons why parents need to wake the hell up and read ratings.

We are f*cked as a society when this generation becomes adults. They are nothing but a bunch of lazy ass entitled pussies.

Amen.

I'll get slammed here, but anyway...

I play GTA with (& against) my son. I enjoy it & so does he. There's nothing on it that isn't freely available on the net & for the most part, on the news on TV. While I was worried at first about some of the content, I soon realised he knew more than I gave him credit for. He avoids the hookers, the bong & he doesn't "scream" at people who kill him in free roam (he's actually pretty good & tends to grief them back). His gameplay would have you thinking he was "of age" until he speaks... quietly... & then you realise you've just been owned by a 12 year old. He drives old school muscle, avoids supercars with bullet proof rear ends & will go to the aid of lower level players being griefed by high levels. Funny when people say "does your mummy & daddy know what you're doing" & I reply with something like "yeah I'm here training him". Reactions are... fun... & I cop it at times.

Back on topic... He gets the occasional death threat being a/. good & b/. a little on the young side. At first they effected him... now he laughs them off, realising the keyboard hero that sent it has little to no chance of carrying out his threat.

Sorry but this generation of kids so far is the worst. Everything is handed to them. But I guess me being 30 and all, I'm just being an old whiny dick.

^ bad parent what the f*ck is wrong with you?

So you've made this observation from a six line post... must be a expert in psychology... or just clueless. You have no idea of my situation, but can still make this assumption.

What is wrong with me...? F*ck wits, that think they "know it all"... think their opinion is worth more than the next... have a "holier than thou" attitude.

Offline, my boy is polite, respectful, honest... he just likes to play GTA, COD, & alike. And I enjoy getting online with him.

Isn't she? Leighton Meester. She's mostly known for playing Blair Waldorf on the show, Gossip Girl.

Parenting done correctly.

I still don't agree with ignoring the ESRB ratings, but I do applaud you for doing exactly what a parent should do, just like my parents did when I started playing GTA when I was 8 years old. Hence, why I can't talk too much sh*t about ignoring ESRB ratings. The only difference is, I didn't use headsets online until I was 17 or so, just out of personal preference.

OT: this has happened to others, another thread with a kuruma in the same spot. Also, you got an "online death threat"?, big deal, that's about as harmful and menacing as a butterfly.

That's right grandpa. Take it from someone with a younger perspective. I'm only 29. You and I are from the "every kid gets a trophy" generation. We had everything handed to us. We'd never be responsible. Blah blah blah. We turned out fine. I'm a responsible adult. Im sure you are too. In 15 years the kids that you're complaining about will be complaining about the next generation. It's been going on since the beginning of time and it's never been true.

^ oh you are 1 of them parents that think their child is an angel haha

And you've come to this conclusion from three lines... In no way do I think my boy is an angel. He gets up to mischief, as did I & no doubt you. You're totally missing my point...

A parent that hands GTA to a 10, 12, 14 year old, shuts the door & goes & gets on the p!ss is a bad parent (my opinion & I think pretty much accepted). He understood the "rules" I put in place & generally has stuck to them. Everyone goes off the ails at times and he is no exception. I made a decision to expose him to & teach him about life earlier than most do I guess.

GTA is 18+ is Aus... is the bad parent the one who hides his child from the realities of life or the one who exposes them to it in moderation.

Just a little... a long custody case & (falsely) copping this crap in court did make the hair on the back of my neck stand up a little.

Oh I'd love to hear your opinion on why I would have to reconsider my life but your opinion means sh*t to me.

Yeah no, we didn't get that "everyone gets a trophy" bs kids get these days. I never had sh*t handed to me. I got hooked on cars since I was a kid hanging out at my grandfathers auto body. I started hanging out there when I was 7 or 8. So pretty much since 1991 or 1992 I've been doing some kind of work. Yes it's been going on since the beginning of time but this generation is the worst by far. They get sh*t handed to them. If I dared talked back to my parents, it was over for me. Kids these days walk all over their parents and get a candy bar after it. I wanted a video game, I worked for it. Kids these day cry in stores and get sh*t handed to them. Now sure not all kids these days are bad but things are getting easier and easier for them. Old person rant over.

OT: You can't find the hearse online no more without someone spawning it for you?

You're very opinionated... should definitely look into psychology as you seem to know everything... about everything (except spelling, gammer, punctuation, tact).

Probably best to finish school first though Champ...
