Criminal Mastermind Glitch - Death Workaround

Recommended Posts

Traywags

This glitch will allow any heist team to save their Criminal Mastermind progress if a team member dies. When the team sees a member die they must all immediately shut off their console. It is as simple as that. I do not know exactly by what point you must turn it off in order to save it, however, our team successfully saved our progress after dying every time. The quickest way for us was using the center controller button. Upon returning to your character you should see that the challenge progress has not reset. Have fun getting your $10,000,000!

Until you come back and find your character at level one because you have corrupted your data.

This is a very risky thing to do.

This is a very risky thing to do.

We did this at least ten times with no corrupted data so I'm not sure how big the risk is. Social club character data is not saved locally so I am pretty sure you are safe from local save corruption for your online character. Edited by Traywags

Online data isn't saved locally but if you happen to exit the game while it is attempting to save, it could cause a problem. That half second it takes to dashboard, there could be a save attempt and I don't know if I would even risk that. Yet 10 million would be nice but not at an expense of a year and a half of work.

Well if that were the case lag switch glitches would pose the same risk (disconnecting from server prior to saves makes no difference whether it is lag switch or power). I haven't heard of this happening in either case but if you see a potential unproven risk then I guess you shouldn't do it.

... This is pretty obvious, not really a glitch more logic.

Let's not get into semantics, it is here for people who have not logically figured it out for themselves.

this is not me attacking op or anyone. just stating my opinion.

I believe that figuring this tactic out and implementing it while we can is fine.

I also believe it's not something that should be posted in these forums to spread like wildfire.

Well if I didn't post it here many others wouldn't benefit. I am not interested in keeping this kind of stuff just for me or for other selfish reasons. What makes this any different than the 1,000 guides and glitches posted here? Screw R* and get your $10,000,000!

Lol I can just imagine OP and friends all crouched and ready to dive for the console button as soon as someone dies. Reminds of the folks on COD who'd "disconnect" whenever they lost a game.

That's all... kind of f*cking lame, dude. Just sayin.

You're robbing yourselves of such a great achievement... What are you even going to do after you "win" it? Pretend you guys actually did anything?

Seriously, just stop with this kind of poser stuff and go glitch your Pantos or whatever for cash. Leave the achievements to the people who can actually do them. Not that it matters, as kids will be posting this to Youtube by tomorrow and probably corrupting their PS4 hard drives trying to pull their power cord over faking an achievement and fake cash. :rol:

LOL, let's not start talking about glitches unlocking achievements on this forum. Every money glitch posted can now unlock heist buying achievements, mission glitches unlocking achievements and many more. For you to even think this is about bragging makes you appear delusional, my OP was obviously directed at the money and the achievement is a side note. If you really feel that bragging about this in game achievement is that important then you need some perspective on what is going on in these forums. I could really care less about the achievement and am laughing at R* to the virtual bank.

And for the other guy, read again. I clearly posted the middle button on the controller works best. SMH at some people's reading skills.

Yes, for a long time, I believed turning off the console from the controller was too slow, but I tried it myself 2 days ago and it saved 2 of my team mate's awards.

One of them had his award rollbacked, unfortunately. But I think he didn't do it fast enough.

Through all of our attempts, the middle button was used a lot of times and we did have 2 instances of a player resetting in the group. Like you said, we think he may have been too slow since it worked every single time for the rest of us. I didn't even feel you had to be all that fast, just on top of it. If it wasn't for the damn 3rd helicopter on the convoy setup we would have made it without dying, but alas this glitch saved us for our one death.

I'm with this guy. While the idea of having a safe (well, not totally safe after seeing the first comment you got), I feel like I would've cheated my way to this challenge. I'm currently doing heists with a few people and seeing who isn't prone to die - it's really hard to find good players, turns out. Seriously, thanks for sharing and sorry for all the negative feedback you've been getting. I just feel that I'd be less of a gamer if I didn't do the task that was asked. That's what gamers are, right? People who'll do any task in a game just to say they did it...ah, but then you can get touchy on what "doing it" consists. Did you farm your way to level 200 or did you work out a system of missions, deathmatches and survivals and using them in rotation?

This is a great tip for anyone who wants the money but for those that are like me and wanting to prove yourself to others (or to yourself!), doing all the heists without dying, using teamwork, hard work, concentration and luck you will get this challenge done. Come on, OP, don't ever cheat your way through a game. Finding a loophole is easy; completing something that many struggle with...now that's something to make a thread about. ;)

Don't do it. You'll mess something up and lose hundreds of hours worth of work. Even 10 mil isn't worth the risk.

Read again, I was referring to our successful $10,000,000 run having one death. There were many other attempts. You could have logically figured this out by my post saying we weren't successful every attempt. Again, some people's reading skills are awful. To all the others that want to accomplish this without this tip then go for it, there is no need to bitch and moan because some of us just want the money. This is a glitch laden forum section, you really just need to go to another forum area If it isn't for you. Edited by Traywags

Go ahead and make that thread, nobody is stopping you. This is for all the others that don't care about the accomplishment and want the money. You guys can brag about yourselves somewhere else.

i have heard that it would be enough if just the one who died immediately disconnects.

can anybody confirm this?

I can confirm this is not true, our group originally found this because our member who died (stupidly on a motorcycle on the way to a mission in Series A) just immediately shut down his console not really knowing what would happen. He did not reset but us other 3 did so that is how we discovered that the whole group must do it. The mission will still fail if the 3 others stay on. Edited by Traywags

Our team tried this and one of us got reset. I think he may have done it too slow.

We eventually completed the CM challenge without having to do it though.

Same with us, one of ours was too slow twice and he knew it. We used it as more of a "give it a try" thing if we died but we certainly never counted on it. It was more successful than not but definitely go in with the mindset of dying resets and hope you might save it. Why not just give it a last ditch effort to save hours of gameplay? And don't listen to anyone who says this corrupts your character, they have no proof of this happening and I can say it never happened with a sample size of around 40 tries between our group. Is it really necessary to turn off the console?

Isnt it enough that the crew does not quick restart the mission but instead backs out to freemode and then restarts the heist/prep?

Not if someone dies, no.
