[GTAO] Glossary of Terms & Phrases

Recommended Posts

Ever wonder what the heck someone is talking about in a thread here?
Ever wonder what the difference between being called a "f*g" and a "p*ssy" was?
Ever wonder what something in-game meant but never followed up to ask?

Well, here's a compilation thread to house all those quirky little terms and phrases that might lend aid to new users and even old.

Feel free to contribute, but please keep your replies to a minimum of FIVE definitions per post, as no one likes a pen zi.

Enjoy and have fun, bb! (bb: baby)

1. BATI 801: while it's the name of a popular GTA motorcycle, the 801 can be perceived as "BOI," in which the term BATI BOI is a slang term in Jamaican for a gay man.

2. OP: many frequenters to an online forum know this term well, as it refers to either the Original Poster or their Original Post. (eg. "What the OP said is completely correct!")

3. TL;DR: again, a favorite among regulars. Too Long; Didn't Read is usually something an original poster of a thread will place at the end of a ridiculously long post to summarize their thoughts in a single sentence. Most readers often wonder, "well, why didn't they just write that in the first place?"

4. PVSSY: (obviously the V should be a U) a term thrown at other players for various reasons, but usually by a player who has just been completely owned by another player who runs off beeping their Jazz Horn straight to Eclipse Towers to hide.

5. DAFUQ: the term is humorous for WTF or "What the f*ck," but what it's really asking is "Wait, what is this situation actually about because it doesn't make sense to me or it confuses me to the point of baffling?"

Masturb8'r - Someone who goes to the strip club, only to pull out his junk and do his business. Subject can easily be detected through moaning via the public voice chat. Subject is between 9 - 13 years old. In rare cases younger or older.

Scubadave - The lord of the Online section. His tank is legendary and religiously respected here.

Giantsgiants - Odd color schemes on every vehicle. We're not sure if he actually reads out comments on here, but his cars are so uniquely colored, we give him respect here.

Last Gen Pleb - A term used by elites on Next Gen who look down on 360 & PS3 users because they think they "cannot afford" the newer version.

Hists - Heists. But the word was thrown around on his website so much, that the word became a running gag on its spelling and connotations.

Mods - The guys who shut the party down with the power to lock your thread.. or ban your account.

More definitions coming soon, but I'll obey fw3's rules about no more than 5 defs.

^ I'll define that huge blue text:

WTF Is A Gerald - A running joke about how Gerald would say, "now keep your mouth shut a out you hear?". As a result, forum members would say, WTF is A Gerald to keep his identity safe.

FTFY - Fixed That For You. You quote someone, but you edited their post to your liking or to what they were trying to say.

Billionaire Days - A time during Last Gen where DNS hackers freely have out billions of dollars to random players. Sheer madness until R* shut it down.

Cash Cards - Cash Cards. No matter what amount, Cash cards have always been the subject of conspiracies for breaking, enhancing, or disregarding GTAO's online lifespan.

Well, not exactly, good input but this is how it was born:

Zentorno - The new Adder. But it's lately been regarded as a symbol of little children and prideful players who want to say "I have a lot of cash, and this car is proof." It's also a go-to vehicle for griefers and trolls. Bulletproof back, high top speed, etc..

Griefer/Troll - Someone who causes another player irritation or annoyance on purpose for laughs or for their own jollies. This can be done through failing missions, random killing in freemode, or anything else unnecessary.

/thread - an ending to a thread. Or, a thread in a nutshell.

Too late dude, I'm already going ham on these definitions. And besides fw3 makes good topics. Well, for the most part..

Chr- used as a prefix in a car's name to denote your exquisite taste in styling, namely chrome paintwork. Mainly used for supercars, especially Adders but lately Zentornos (Chradders or Chrentornos, if you will) since they were introduced, because everyone knows that all other cars are for grubby peasants.

Adder Bonds - An investment made by players to launder their dirty money, after the ability to rearrange your garage lead to the unintended consequence of being able to escort a dead hooker to your garage and dupe your car of choice. Player will fill garage with said Adders (or similar hyper-expensive car), then sell those cars and buy more "clean" cars, so those filthy, money-grabbing Rockstar bastards won't steal your illegitimate money and force you to buy cash cards just so you can afford some ammo.

Buff/nerf - In the subject line of a hundred topics every time a weapon or vehicle is introduced to the game, usually made by players who have either had their favourite griefing tool rebalanced to make the game fairer (a nerf), or a request to make an item stronger because they spent a couple of million dollars on said item and find it doesn't automatically kill everyone in the lobby while they masturbate with one hand and eat a sandwich with the other (a buff).

Grief - A term used to denote perceived unfairness, used in the context where our hero is being killed by another in the lobby. Note the term "perceived", as the vast majority of complaints of griefing are incorrectly attributed, and the hero could avoid said "griefing" by simply using the counter weapon or vehicle to his antagonist, leaving the area or lobby, or simple going into passive mode while they stare at the pretty next generation flowers.

Kill/Death ratio, or K/D - the amount of kills you claim divided by the amount of deaths you suffer. Much like penis size, everyone secretly pretends they don't care what theirs is, as long as it's above the average.

Chradder - Car frequently used by people with no taste whatsoever, especially 12 year-olds. It defines itself as a "swagmoney mobile". It's basically a Truffade Adder with Chrome paintjob and Dollar rims.

Describes what "nerf" is, leave out the fact that "nerf" comes from nerf guns. What great descriptions you guys have.

There are no mistakes, you're just being anal. We're just having fun here, not submitting this thread to the Oxford English Dictionary.

Not being anal, just correcting mistakes. If you guys what to post sh*t that has no meaning, then go for it. Like I did in a previous post "lol" look out Larry, see how quick that would have got corrected because that's not what it means.

If you're gonna be obsessed with correcting mistakes, you might want to edit your post to say "want" instead of "what".

Fail: This thread

Friend, you are the definition of the word "fail," as is evidenced in every. thread. you comment in.

Sorry, but it's the truth. (truth: something, that when ingested, usually stings the person ingesting it, much like a scorpion up the rump)

fw3 makes good topics. Well, for the most part..

a fine example of "truth," right there! LOL!! :)

NOS/NAWS: Kenetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) featured on the Lectro often said by people who know nothing about vehicles
