Heists and the socially less comfortable players.

I am not one who is comfortable at all talking through a mic. I have zero problems chatting irl or speaking in front of crowds but online is a whole other story. In all my years of online gaming, which started with Halo 1, I have never ever used a mic.

GTAO was always perfectly doable without one and I have been enjoying it tremendously. Up till now. I am feeling lost, quite unable to join any heist except Fleeca, because mic usage is expected in all of them. So, in effect, the update I was most looking forward to has crippled my enjoyment and sort of closed off the game for me.

Surely I cannot be alone in this?

Don't worry. You are not alone. i have been kicked out several times, because i don't do mic missions. I am normally a social guy, but when i'm online, i just want to do my stuff, i know what to do. i'm not a bad guy. and also english isn't my first language

I'm not into talking to randoms, luckily I have 10 friends on Xbox one including my brother and cousins and most play GTA Online, so I don't really bother talking to anyone else.

I suggest making some friends OP or seeing if anyone you know IRL plays GTAO, you might be surprised.

i have a mic, well i had one til my kid broke it...

i rarely used it. have been doing heist without mic with out any issues.

if people can read the screen, they can do heist without mic.

Just use voice changer on your mic and become a different personality in game.

There isn't one on PS4

But no you aren't alone i don't use my mic unless i'm in a party chat with friends and even then i bearly talk and i won't carry on a conversation with randoms in missions or heist but if i need to say something i'll switch my mic on say what i need to say and turn it back off.

I've had no problems doing heist without a mic, but I am on PS4 and it sounds like you are on Xbox.

I can appreciate your discomfort for talking to strangers online, but do you see that you're asking everyone to adapt to you when it would be much more convenient for you to adapt to the masses?

I see a lot of this, players wanting special attention over something. This is not meant as an insult or slide, merely pointing out that it's you who has the issue, yet you expect everyone else to deal with it.

I use to be like this. I have no issues talking to people in front of me but put a mic on me and I freeze up. I just stopped caring what people think and I say what I want. Hope you can break thru this op.

If randoms weren't whining at every mission failure, insulting and endlessly complaining at their teammates once they die, maybe you'd had more people comfortable using microphones. I know I would lol.

Wait until you hit puberty then you will be fine.

Lol, bro, in a few years, my kid will hit puberty. I'm old enough to have bought a C64 when they were all the rage. Do you even know what one is or should I explain?

I feel you, I enjoy talking to people irl but I can't get myself into using mics, I just feel rather uncomfortable talking to a tv, or someone that isn't actually here.

I'm sure you don't see me asking for anything or wanting people to do anything. All I'm doing is expressing my discomfort. Why do you read more into that?

It's this forum sometimes, it's not a social experience here, it's a bashing one.

Just talk man, wtf is the problem lol

I know! I wish I could reason this away! You are right and there really is no problem, except that there is, for me. It's pretty hard to understand for somebody who doesn't have this I guess.

Suck it up.

I'd have a bit more sympathy if you claimed real life phobias, but you've said you can talk all day long face to face, then you can give simple information via mic.

Ignoring your attitude for now, please see the post directly above yours.

I always invite people to my party. I have no expectation that they join but it would be nice. I must say, out the numerous heists I've joined, I've never gotten a part/chat invite. It's weird but that's fine.

A mic isn't necessary at all. I did all 5 heists as leader and I don't have a mic. I never died in any heist either. Just need some friends who are good and can follow the game instructions.

I like to go on there and make the most annoying voice ever as I shout "HEADSHOOOOT" even if it wasn't a headshot just to piss people off. I don't do it often though.

haha this remind me of this guy the other day...

i land in a lobby, and this guy was dominating the entire lobby so i had to go and join the fight.

the thing is not that he was killing everyone, the thing was that whenever he killed someone he played the sounds of unreal tournament...

"head shot" "double kill" "unstopable"

the guy was in godmode but the sounds he used made up for his dick move of using godmode against players.

Don't even worry about it man .if you don't like it you don't have to . As long as you are listening to the others and follow orders I don't see the problem at all . You're fine mate
