How to create GTA VC style Icons

How to create GTA VC Style icon.

This tutorial demonstrates how to create a GTA VC style icon

Requirements

 

• The dff file you are trying to create the icon of
• Blender (+ DFF I/O for Blender)
• Photoshop

How to

 

1. Open photoshop
2. Click the gradient icon from the toolbar
3. Below the (file , edit) menu , you can see a gradient bar click on that
4. Set the first color stop to pink and the end to blue
5. Now move the cursor to the end of the file to the start of it
6. Save it as PNG
7. Open Blender and import the .dff file.
8. Go to the edit mod
9. Press U > Project from view bounds
10. Go to the materials tab
11. click new
12. Next to the color there is a circle type button , click on that
13. select Image Texture
14. Below click open
15. Locate the texture you saved
16. Go to the render settings
17. Go down and expand Film and check Transparent
18. Click render on the top
19. Press F3 and save the image
20. Open Photoshop
21. Right Click the Box tool and select the rounded rectange and set the radius 50px
22. change the color to pink
23. Draw a rectangle
24. Change the color to green , yellow or orange (according to the type of the weapon)
25. Draw another rectangle inside the rectangle.
26. Open the exported render
27. Copy Everything and then paste it on the file with 2 boxes
28. Right click on the newly created layer and click blending options
29. Check Drop Shadow and change its density to 100% and distance to 15px
30. Check stroke and select it color as black.
31. Done......

This actually was not how they made the icons, but I guess it's more of a HD way.
