Speculation and 100% false information:

-[butler] no one knows what his purpose was but many believe he was Salvatore Leone's butler. [speculation]

-The Nightstick (pictured to the right) was cut. [speculation]

(a simple theory I once pooped out of my mind randomly based on a small res screenshot that had something that looked like a nightstick in it; I have never said it's and I hardly believe it myself but it seems like people really love making stuff up; reference: http://i.imgur.com/Up0FIfh.png )

-Children were planned for the game.

(speculation based on a preview mentioning "schoolchildren" - a very broad term; Rockstar has confirmed that this was fake)

Tom Novy - Back to The Streets - Only used in a trailer; never confirmed to have been in the game.

AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - Used in a beta mod trailer from a few years back.
Conor and Jay- Carry Me Off - Unconfirmed song.
Apostles Of Funk - "Yellow Butter" - GTA 2 soundtrack which was used in MeltedSOX's mod as filler.
Davidson - "All I Wanna Do" - GTA 2 soundtrack which was used in MeltedSOX's mod as filler.
Meme Traders - "Automatic Transmission" - GTA 1 soundtrack which was used in MeltedSOX's mod as filler.
Ohjaamo - "Complications" - GTA 1 soundtrack which was used in MeltedSOX's mod as filler.
Conor and Jay - "Vegas Road" - GTA 2 soundtrack which was used in MeltedSOX's mod as filler.
-Head Radio had a different logo (pictured to the right). At one point, it shared the same one as Grand Theft Auto 2's Head Radio.
(GTA 2's Head Radio logo being used in III has never been mentioned, ever)
-A radio station with Metal and Rock music was cut. This might have been the station that Lazlow mentions on Chatterbox FM. [speculation]
-Radio stations such as Liberty FM, Radio Active, WLLC ‘The Zone’ and Liberty Soul FM were all cut during development.

(these radio stations have never been confirmed to have actually been listenable; Radio Active hasn't even been proven to have been a radio at all in its own sense => speculation)
-Many songs were originally from Grand Theft Auto 2, and some from Grand Theft Auto 1, such as "All I Wanna Do", "Complications", and "Yellow Butter". [speculation/see above]

Useless pieces of trivia:

-The graphics were originally "cartoonish".

-MSX FM was originally called "Moving Shadow FM".

-Police Officers originally had mustaches.

(this part includes all the other pedestrian descriptions from the page as they're missing information and only a random few pedestrians are described, rendering it useless in my book)

All in all, it's not as bad as I recall it. They did fix most of it although the page's fashion is still all over the place.
Next on, III Beta Vehicles review. That one is a lot worse from what I've seen. :monocle:

AHAHAHAHAHA MEME TRADERS

-Radio stations such as Liberty FM, Radio Active, WLLC ‘The Zone’ and Liberty Soul FM were all cut during development.

I used to think this even before I found out about any GTA websites when I cheated my way into Staunton Island on the PS2 and saw those adverts. I never heard of Radio Active though, but it's a silly pun.

-Police Officers originally had mustaches.

They did, didn't they? I mean in the original III manual for the PS2, they're shown in a group with mustaches.

That's why it's an useless piece of trivia. They had one job, to describe these pedestrians.

He had a lot more than a mustache. And so did the rest of the random peds they've described. That's unfinished and all over the place if you'd ask me => useless trivia unless you do it right.

Have you thought about editing the page with the proper information? I mean, assuming they won't get reverted. Speaking of, I've been digging into how folks get to become moderators and stuff, apparently all they have to do is take a test.

A test. It's running a website, not 11th grade history.

Are you sure about this one? I mean, there's even a model of Tom Novy in the PS2 version of the game.

Yes, I'm sure. It has never been officially confirmed.

The only confirmed beta song is Wash Him Off.

This is a wiki, it needs to have exact information and a very small amount of speculation.

If we go the extra mile and also involve speculation and mention that this one is likely but unconfirmed that would make it okay seeing as how much outside proof there is for this song.

I'm surprised they still had Wash Him Off floating around the Rockstar offices in good enough quality in time for the 10th anniversary of III.

But coming from what I'm witnessing, they don't want exact information and if you bring it up, they'll say you're provoking whoever you're asking. It's one thing to criticize a site's policy and either come to a compromise with whoever's running it or get it changed, but when they say things like "do not come here to complain about what the wiki is like and how we deal with things" and then they wonder why they're being disrespected, then that's a whole nother league.

f*ckin' pricks.

Well like I showed a friend of mine this, if they actually respond to the critiques and use them to make it a better place, getting rid of the fanon and the higher-ups having an actual fair attitude about things and not being so pompus, I'd have a lot more respect for the place. But now, really all I need it for is if I need a picture of a vehicle or character to post here. And even then, I could just get it from elsewhere.

I'll be honest, it used to be pretty speculative, but it's improved a lot. I'm a staff member there, and I'll admit I had a bad (very bad, I'm sure WildBrick will agree) start, but since I improved (I think he'll also agree lol), I've been getting down to business in cleanups, verification, contributing, adding images, creating articles, etc, and I only add certified information, of what is defined in game, whether seen, heard, modelled, textured, or data. I'd also like to state I'm 100% against the speculation contributers, we get plenty of them, and I'm extremely active there and I am constantly on the look out for vandalism, speculation, or incorrect (either proved or from certain-personal experience) information. The place has changed, but there's been some childish contributers in my time, I'll admit, I was once one of them.

As I was trying to mention in the thread on Camilo's page (speaking of, I apologize to him for turning his talk page into a battlefield), people passing false information off as actual information gets me pretty upset not in the sense that the people are doing it, but rather in the sense that the moderators are behind it, like keeping a fake town name up or in Andre's case, keeping a clearly fake picture up and passing it off as legitimate. When I did what he suggested now, back then and said "This image posted in the article isn't official as I can't find it in the Rockstar website, but it is here for years. It should be removed", he locked the page. To me, that meant that he wanted the clearly fake picture to be left up. When I tried to ask him the reason just now, I got banned.

I'm rude and one sided, here or elsewhere, but that I can admit to. Andre is smug and conceited, and refuses to admit it and whenever his actions or authority is challenged, he either sweeps it under the rug or blocks it. That's my problem with it. I'm not saying each and every single person running the show there is a doppelganger of him or has some other unfavorable trait that would jeopardize how well the site is run, but like many others have said, the actions of the few put a sour taste in our mouths for the whole. Bad apples spoil the bunch, too many cooks f*ck up the soup, etc.

@randomstunt - Yes.

Looked through the information from the III Beta Vehicles category. It's not extremely bad but it has something that's as dumb as it gets...

Army Helicopter
The Army Helicopter was an Apache-based helicopter that was cut and it is replaced by Hunter (which is also based on the Apache) in later games release.
Never mentioned. This is one of the funniest bits of misinformation I've ever read, I'll give it that.
More juice:
-Columbia/Cartel Cruiser. Columbia has never been confirmed as a car name from what I recall. (Colombian Car - proper vehicle name).
-Mafia Beamer/Mafia Sentinel. Likely but without any references apart from the data description (Mafia Car in the default.ide).
-Security Van/Securicar. Was actually called Armored Truck based on the CA render found on R*'s server.
-Yakuza/Yakuza Stinger. Likely but without any references apart from the default.ide shortened name (Yakuza Car - proper vehicle name).
-Yardie/Yardie Lobo. Likely but without any references apart from the default.ide shortened name. (Yardie Car - proper vehicle name).

TBH I don't care so much for these specific wikias, if I wanna look up something I do it quickly and I don't care so much, thugh most of the time I do want the right info and I am sure GTAwikia still gives that.

I can assure you we do, I specifically work on vehicles very actively; I'm always re-ensuring facts, statements, performance and design details, prices and locations, availability, etc. ;) it's just some morons, specifically the newer users, who add gibberish and expect people to believe them, and that's where staff come in handy, and me especially for vehicles.

But again, just because something was left unattended for X amount of time, that shouldn't mean that the information is automatically factual, like that X channel or those Amy pictures and definitely thouse GTA 2 radio logos. And when folks go to change them or right the wrongs, they shouldn't get thrown into an edit war if they explain what they're doing.

he DID voice him, though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbHnIZqxYJw

Now I notice it, kinda maybe.

But yeah, I don't know where those names are mentioned and even if they are, they did a poor job stating where they're given a name.

i've checked the most of his lines, and i don't hear him mentioning his name anywhere. i must've missed a spot or i've found a bullsh*t speculation again.

Another thing worthy to point out is how they treat as pretty much a consensus the date GTA 1 and GTA 2 take place in.

They say GTA is set in 1997, but why? Just because this is the year the game came out? It is specially hard to believe that when we see this texture in Liberty City so many times:

50d87546b7d536ef9b08d0b33ba0f6c5.png

And what makes them think that GTA 2 takes place in 2013? This one is even harer than GTA 1, considering there are several info that contradict each other within the game.

Wasn't it stated on the GTA 2 site that it was set in 2013?

As far as the 1996 thing goes, you could try changing it and seeing how that goes over with the folks running that circus.

It's mentioned on GTA1 site that the game is set in 1997

http://www.rockstargames.com/gta/gangstas/deever.html

Theft of impounded narcotics (1989-97)

Alleged sodomy of a superior officer (1997)

Can't be set in 1996 if the criminal record mentions 1997. Map texture could be anything - leftover, original idea, or city marking that has nothing to do with the date it's set in.

Not quite, the police records have the year abbreviated, some say "99" and some others say "13", which people then assumed the latter meant 2013, however, in the radio, you can hear a guy saying that the "new millenium is close", so, could those dates actually be the years 2899 and and 2913 respectivelly?

Even then, the home page says that the game is set two weeks in the future, with a clock that is always 2 weeks ahead of whenever you're seeing it.

I thought they were talking about Tommy Vercetti for a second. But ya, they really do love scraping the barrel for trivial items.
