I think it's a good thread. Of course it's a game and you can do whatever you want but people can say here what they think about it.

 

So in my opinion people who do that in order to escape from the player (for instance to save their precious K/D ratio) while they are figthing against each other are f*cking losers, cheaters, cowards and they are not good enough to fight toe-to-toe. You can always eat a fuking egochaser or hide somwere, move to get a better position, disappear from the map or even steal the car and get away but to do a suicide??? I would never do this in a fight and I think it's a cheap tactic (if we even can call it tactic). That's my opinion. You can agree or not.

I don't think you understand to be honest.

 

In most scenarios, it is used to prevent cheap kills, not gain them.

 

It doesn't make sense for you to say, "they can't go toe to toe" because most people suicide AFTER they have already killed you, so they suicide in advance of the next "toe to toe" so that all is fair.

 

Sure they can use snacks/armor, but what about when they run out? are they supposed to fight you with 50% less health so you can get a cheap kill & believe that you killed them in equal circumstances?

 

What about when they kill you because you're ass, and you respawn down the street, the first thing you'll do is get out your sniper. So what if they did at some point between you dying & respawning (happens a lot) from something like cops killing him. Now when he respawns down the street from you, and in perfect sniping range, he is at a huge disadvantage.

 

You've already seen his dot, know where he is & you're lining him up for the kill while he's spawning in and figuring out where you are and realising there's no cover to prevent an instant respawn kill...

 

In that situation it's perfectly acceptable for the guy to suicide and get a safer respawn, than give up a kill to the opposition.

Players do this to protect their K/D ratio? I honestly don't care about my K/D (i think i saw my K/D somewhere and i think it was like 0,30 or something). If someone is after me i either run, use the public transport or choose to attack that player with a musket.

It's to get full health and no wanted level. I suspect for some people it's to respawn elsewhere as well, when they're in the middle of a "battle".

 

 

Had some nobody do this last night. Just shows how much they suck. Once he did it a few times I knew he was a weak player and just let him be.

Truth is OP it's a pretty well known 'tactic'

The cops are draining your health to a flashing red line and you have multiple adversaries moving in to claim your bounty, you suicide and respawn somewhere perfect to pick everyone off. It's like entry level knowledge for free roam pvp ( not deathmatch!! )

This community, I swear. First it was tanks, then jets, then Zentornos. Now it's armored cars, 2-man Insurgents and teleporting out of harm's way and re-upping on health simultaneously. Sportsmanship and or fighting honorably is a foreign concept in GTAO. I'd never suicide in the middle of a fight. My opponent's trying to kill me, so I save him the trouble? FOH. If I want more health, I eat snacks or make it a point to not get shot. If I'm pinned down and want better position, I throw tear gas or call a mugger.

 

Every time I log in, players descend to new lows, then defend their actions by saying "But it's Grand Theft Auto" or "The game allows it, so it's allowed". Long gone are the days when you'd have a 20 minute knockdown/drag out battle with a player, then get a "good fight" text from your opponent afterwards. Now it's just a bunch of try-hards desperate for the upper hand.

You pretty much nailed it. But to be honest i still see actual good players every now and then. That can actually put up an awesome fight. Those are the people who make it fun.

 

But just by looking at some of replies here its easy to see how obtuse players really are.

 

I mean are people really getting upset about getting called cowards for using the easy way out? Here they are justifying it as a tactic OR thinking its making people angry that they are robbing people of kills. But i don't think they understand that people are laughing at them for being sh*tty and offing themselves.

 

 

Now for those getting all huffy and puffy about this.. Thinking your awesome.. Telling people to leave their PSN or xbox live ID'.s WTF?

Im not gonna waste my time arguing with people who claim its some sort of legit tactic. This is non debatable thing here. Its the bitch way of doing it and anyone with half a brain knows this. And alls thats left for me is to stick around and out troll the trolls...which is pretty much what this forum is about. In which case, i would prefer to waste my time doing that in game. I don't care what their reasons are. Be it to avoid cops or to avoid the player from getting the kill. They are killing themselves because they can't handle it... because the moment the player leaves the area they stop doing it. Im starting feel bad for them actually, it sort of sad when you think about it.

 

They actually think suicide in some weird way means they have the upper hand.. So they laugh when they think they robbed a player of the kill while the other guy laughs at the free roam bitch. Guess its a win/ win then..

 

Players go into free roam knowing full well that cops will be on your ass every two seconds. If they have to suicide every two seconds then they are a joke. And im the guy laughing.

Judging by your responses, you're coming off as buttburt. While you may "mock" a player for this with your friends...it seems as though the tactic bothers you, a lot.

 

And it should, it is a bit cheap. BUT, that's GTA. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. You also act ignorant towards the fact that many free mode players are in it to register more kills against any player, especially when they have engaged someone looking to retaliate.

 

Free mode is a very competitive arena, that's why you have the trolls, the sh*t talkers because they are in competition with someone.

You guys on the side of "Those meanies are cheating by denying me of kills" are the same bunch of dickheads on every game that try to do things the "moral" way, the generally accepted way, & those are the people with moderate ability, moderate stats & will always be moderate.

 

All the best players I know can still smack people in the game the "regular" way, but they have also learned to adapt to other ways so that they can counter many different strategies.

 

The reason you guys cry about this sh*t is because you're too f*cking dumb to realise that when other strategies are employed against you, you often NEED to adapt and change your approach to win, otherwise you get beasted and come crying on GTAF.

 

I absolutely guarantee that I could find 5 troll players who could whoop the sh*t out of the regular "honourable" players in any game mode in GTA.

And yea I have always thought player hosted tournies would be awesome for GTA if done right. DCUO has had them for ages with Olympus & they get the dev team to live stream it once it's all ready.

 

Player tournaments could be great as long as they're not just deathmatches & they're actually thought out and planned well, for example teams sign up in classic 16 or 32 knockout fashion. Live streams could all be linked to relevant matches, with a commentator or ref in there.

 

With all the options in GTA, I find it hard to believe some awesome game mods & game play wouldn't come out of this.

 

After each tournament players/teams are seeded dependent on their results or accumulated results.

I think people like you are missing the point that im laughing at you for offing yourself at my mere presence. You make it clear when you claim im 'crying'.

You misunderstood me. I'm not whining. I honestly don't care how you play. I find your particular play style cheap, and I'd never engage anyone in such a manner, but to each his own. Do whatever you have to to win. I ain't even mad. I'm content to win or lose playing in the manner that suits me. Every battle, no matter how lopsided, is an opportunity to learn something new or develop a new tactic or countermeasure.

That's not what was meant by that, maybe you should try thinking first.

 

What I meant was it's used to avoid a cheap kill such as respawn kills or kills where you are disadvantage (Less health, no Snacks etc)

 

I rarely need to use this strategy, only to get cops off me, or get a better respawn if some noob is trying to snipe spawn me.

you still don't seem to understand, at no point did I say I use this all the time or to get kills, there are two reasons I use this strategy, one is for cops, the other is to avoid sniper spawn kills.

 

Using this strategy has nothing to do with player skill & that's the distinction you & players like Hulio fail to understand. Whether a player uses this strategy or not, doesn't take away from the fact that they are a better player than you.

 

If they are suiciding to get health back, that means they've already killed you in the 1 on 1 scenario, so how does it make them cheap, they have clearly already bettered you.
