Let's just imagine he was a little mad. So what?

 

People get "mad" when there are god mode users, or other forms of cheats, etc. Does that make their complaints invalid? Not at all.

 

I don't suppose he is mad anyway; just pointing out the absurdity of this "tactic", and maybe hoping that it puts more of a spotlight on it (so that Rockstar might change the way things work).

 

This thread already has 25 pages of bickering and penis measuring competitions anyway, and unfortunately I think it'll be doomed to have 25 pages more as long as it keeps going round and round in circles.

 

My take on suicide is this anyway:

 

Good, sporting players will only suicide if the cops unfairly interrupt fights. Otherwise, they will accept that things aren't always going to go their way: you win some; you lose some.

 

Bad, unsporting players will suicide every time it looks like things aren't going their way (even if it's their own fault, and not that of the cops). Often, this will be before they've even been harmed in any way. They are generally the kind of people who would rather turn their console off at the end of a DM instead of accepting they lost it.

 

Once again, they can be summed up like this:

There really is no excuse for using suicide as way to avoid cops if you plan on constantly attacking players in free roam. They are going to show up eventually if players keep blasting at each other anyways.

Your way would involve leaving the battle to lose the cops everytime you get a wanted level, which would be everytime you fired a shot in a lengthy multiplayer battle.

Speaking of cops and griefers, it's possible and very hilarious to grief people with cops, though it isn't a stat padder that most "griefers" want:

1. Get a Kuruma

2. Work yourself up to 5 stars

3. Go passive

4. Drag the cops after you, go to hot battle zones in the session and hang around players busy blasting each other

5. Laugh as they suddenly get vaporized by 5 star cops, even though their wanted level is way lower

If the option to kill your self were removed from the interaction menu, I think that'd go a long way towards resolving this. Heck, it would be a step in the right direction for multiple reasons..

 

As is, killing your self via interaction menu is three buttons away: SELECT, D-PAD UP, A/X

 

Compare that to selecting snacks for instance... Yeah

 

Many of the options in the interaction menu are redundant and would be better left out (they are also available via the pause menu).

-Show/Hide job coronas

-Vehicle access

-Yacht options

-Kill yourself

If you weren't angry in the slightest about players killing themselves, you shouldn't have an issue with them doing so. So you say you're having a laugh at them, making fun of their tactics and play-style, so why do you care if they do it? Why are you trying so hard to pose a solution to it if you're not mad but just ridiculing them. You would have to be really mad about players killing themselves to call them bitches, pussies, cowards, drama queens, and criticise them constantly. Sure, we all get mad for many things in this game, but why are you denying that you're mad in this situation?

To be honest i don't use passive while attacking players. Even when i lure cops around i stay out of passive. I use the cops presence to annoy the suicide spammers OR to bait out campers. I keep moving..

 

 

But if a Kuruma player starts hanging around in passive with cops chasing him. Just don't shoot or keep moving and you're all good. No need to teleport back to your aprt. Its non issue which can be solved by holding back your gun fire. And, Its not hard to out drive a kuruma thats being mauled by 5 stars worth of cops. This only effects players that stay in the same spot shooting.

 

 

Funny thing is.. The COPS can still kill players in the Kuruama. Its not 100% safe and it will blow up.

I think you've misunderstood. It's just a troll method for fun. No-one is suggesting you follow someone around in a Kuruma whilst in passive, and then turning it off when they're not expecting it, or anything like that.

 

It's just like dragging mines when Sarris thinks you're trying to ram his ship.

Okay, as long as you respond to each and one of my points below, we should be able to maintain a mature and reasonable discussion. I just want to see your response to them, and why you view them the way you do.

 

As for losing the cops, you say there are other ways to easily lose them, like moving, as you've said in the past (don't know what you mean by that, though). Okay then, but why do you care if someone takes the EWO to do so anyway? It shouldn't affect you. If they want to lose the cops by simply clicking a button, that's fine. Why should you care? I mean, they lose $500 anyway, and they're not doing it to negate you a kill or to avoid dying at all costs, but only to lose the cops within a click of a button. Also, you get full health back, which is a good benefit if you're having a gunfight with somebody; nothing wrong with that.

 

As for surviving bounties, well, if someone really wants to survive their bounty, they may take the EWO if they're caught in a risky situation which may be likely or guarantee that they will end up in them getting killed by another player. Now you can put whatever label you want on me; pussy, coward, bitch or sissy. I honestly don't care. Those labels won't affect me in anyway, and it certainly won't persuade me to refrain from taking the EWO as a way to survive my bounty, so you can keep ranting on about that. Plus, it's FREE roam, so there are no rules or codes to abide by. There's no such things as ''You're allowed to do this, but you're not allowed to do this''. Others may find tactics that you find 'valid' to be a bitch tactic, so perceptions of certain tactics and play-styles are all subjective. But then again, it's free roam, so there's no such thing as valid or invalid.

 

As for spamming suicide whilst firing RPGs or when losing a bit of health, yes, it's silly and quite frustrating. But then again, it's free roam; there are no specific rules to abide by. People will have play-styles that you won't agree with, and you may also have a play-style that others may also not agree with. In addition to that, people will utilise certain in-game features for reasons other than the intended use. Deal with it. I believe the EWO was implemented into the game to provide players with an escape, in case they got trapped by another player blocking the doors of a store, so this feature also has its uses, as well. If you do notice that the player you're facing is spamming suicide, ignore him/her and move on. Simple. I honestly don't know what platform you play on that 90 percent of players spam suicide. Here on PS3, which has many cheaters and modders, you will rarely come across someone spamming suicide. You may encounter a few RPG suicide spammers here and there, but it's still the minority, and all you can do is avoid them at all costs, unless you want to fight it out, which will only end up in you complaining even more.

It's all very simple. GTA free roam has no given set of rules other than not blowing up a ton of personal vehicles in a short amount of time. If there were any more rules, game mechanics would have been put in place to keep people in line. That is not the case with suicide and most other features/content.

 

Freedom is what free mode is all about. Throw in things like high speed armoured cars, support NPC's, armed aircraft, high powered weaponry and explosives and you end up with pure chaos. Guaranteed, this is how most players interpret it, you can tell just by watching others play.

 

As discussed multiple times in other threads, people like denying others kills. Love it, in fact. It's all personal. Instead of fighting other players and having fun together, people want to beat eachother and make others feel bad. We all know it, that's the situation now in many online games. Doing whatever you can to make sure your opponent does not kill you is just one way to achieve that. Previous deaths don't matter, suicides don't matter. Being killed by another player matters. So people kill themselves in a variety of ways or avoid further conflict to make sure the other doesn't get that kill.

 

They're winners. In their mind, they've won. You however, apply a imaginary code of honour to the situation and call other people cowards and whatnot when they don't follow your rules of engagement. All players who do this are simply playing the wrong game. I'd specify and say wrong game mode, but I'm pretty sure people in competitive jobs like DM's also "cheat" in certain ways.

ANYWAY, you consider them to be unsportive, cowardly and so on, and in your mind you're the winner.

 

Both parties are winners.

They've accomplished what they set out to do, and no matter what you say, you can't make them feel bad about using all the tools a game has given them to make sure they got to play the game the way they wanted to play it and interact with you the way they wanted to.

You have your imaginary moral high ground, so you can feel good about yourself when the other player drives off in passive mode or leaves the session.

 

In the end, there's no problem. However, if you really think change is possible and you'd like to make an effort, you know what you can do to combat this behaviour that you so loathe? Stop posting about it. For a group of people who claim to be mature and intelligent I am sometimes amazed at what I find in threads on this forum, but I'm sure most of you will feel the same way.

No matter your feelings, this is what happens: posting about something makes it look like you care. Obviously, this is just the CONFIRMATION that people need, to know for sure that it gets under your skin when they deny you an in-game kill. And that motivates them more.

 

Trying to help you out here. Compare it to a new film coming out. You'd like everyone to experience it properly, probably. So you ask people not to spoil it for others. What is it that people will then do? They'll start spewing out spoilers everywhere. Anyone who wasn't planning on doing it won't do so anyway. The jerks who were planning on doing it will not change their mind when you ask. And a couple who hadn't made up their mind might start doing so, just because they're bored.

 

So for hopefully the last time: stop posting about it IF indeed you don't care about. Most of all, don't waste time with delusions about any moral high ground and changing the whole community of an online game. Lastly, if you care about fair play or just any kind of in-game activity with a set of rules, play organised games. Join a crew and add friends so you can play in private games where people agree on a bunch of rules and respect those.

Example from a few nights ago. This player killed me 3 times... but killed himself 20 times when i went after him.. Yet he sends me a message saying he owned me. And im just sitting there thinking " Ya, bitch, you killed yourself 20 times and did the work for me".

 

I don't get it...I can understand when people might do it once in a while because they don't want cops around. But when they do it every 15 seconds its just mind blowing. Why so scared?

Is it to protect their K/D ratios? Do they think that they are robbing people of kills? I dunno..

 

Personally i feel sort of flattered that players constantly take the 'easy way'' simply because im coming after them. Seriously, you guys are just making me look good when you do this..lol

 

Example from a few nights ago. This player killed me 3 times... but killed himself 20 times when i went after him.. Yet he sends me a message saying he owned me. And im just sitting there thinking " Ya, bitch, you killed yourself 20 times and did the work for me".

 

I don't get it...I can understand when people might do it once in a while because they don't want cops around. But when they do it every 15 seconds its just mind blowing. Why so scared?

Hey im not the guy shooting at people. Trying to stay in one spot then hitting the reset button every time i take damage or the cops swarm in. Its not about ego.. its about game play mechanics. I never understood this. If I can kill you once, I can kill you again. The half a health bar the game gives back is enough to put you down once more. I don't need every conceivable advantage available to be competitive.

...i don't even understand their arguments. How are they in disadvantage with half a health bar & i am not? If i'd agree with all this, nobody would kill each other & there would be suicides only. If you're a fair player, you won't take the easy way out & neither do i. Its just a cheap way to gain a marginal advantage, nothing more.

 

I'd love a suicide stat in the Social Club. Why does this not exist?
