Michael_Townley
How can I enable dynamic shadow that is casted by headlights in ENB? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/777290-no-dynamic-shadows-when-using-enb/ Share on other sites
cp1dell
I'm going to assume you're on Patch 7/EFLC, and using Dax's shader's that fix most of the issues ENB has with said version of the game that Boris refuses to fix. This is a common problem that they break headlight shadows. As of right now, there is no fix for it. I'm not sure if Dax is working on fixing it, or if there's nothing he can do about it. My headlight shadows work but only when the ped is basically touching the grille of the car. It doesn't work if I'm not touching the car, and it doesn't work standing in front of the lights. Any idea why it's working but not properly? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/777290-no-dynamic-shadows-when-using-enb/#findComment-1067176979 Share on other sites
cp1dell
Headlight shadows with dax's shaders are completely bugged. They're either going to outright not work, or have weird effects and cast odd shadows in the distance. Vehicles that have two headlights (like most cars) won't work, but vehicles with one (motorcycles) will properly cast shadows. For whatever reason, when there are two headlights present the shadows are bugged. As far as dax is concerned, he is unable to fix it. Just a small price we have to pay to have all the ENB effects working on Patch 7, since Boris thinks Rockstar is personally out to get him and thinks the patches and new Patch 6/7 shaders purposely broke ENB (if that's still his reasoning, that is) and refuses to update ENB himself to work on Patch 7. DaBOSS54320
I don't get why Rockstar or any company would be against modding that isn't piracy (which ENB series isn't) coz it just adds a sh*t ton of reasons to buy the game. My headlights don't cast a shadow either, but I can deal with it... game still looks pretty. cp1dell
Rockstar definitely didn't purposely break ENB with Patch 6/7. That's just what I have heard what Boris' reasoning for not bothering with it is. He believes Rockstar purposely broke ENB with the new patch. I think it's completely ridiculous, since they are obviously never going to give IV another update like that, that changes how the shaders and shadows work, so he should just update ENB so it works on the new patch and EFLC. I love the work dax has done, but Boris really needs to fix ENB himself and get it working on EFLC/Patch 7. Michael_Townley
That means, it's impossible for me to get the dynamic shadows except after I remove ENB? cp1dell
Yup. It's just a bug. Streetlights, helicopters, and everything else still casts dynamic shadows at night. The only lights that won't are vehicles. Motorcycles will, and if you shoot out one headlight on a vehicle, the other will cast shadows. It's just when a vehicle has two lights, it isn't going to cast dynamic shadows. Again, dynamic shadows are still in the game. Vehicles just won't produce them.
