Kerberos42
I'm looking to add a second graphics card so I can support 3 or even 4 screens. This is purely for work stuff, (software development & some basic video editing for YouTube), so not for gaming or any intensive GPU stuff, and I don't care about Crossfire or SLI. I have an older Nvidia 8800 GTS, and someone is giving me some flavor of an ATI card. I have an Asus P8P67 Pro motherboard, so I have an extra PCIe 2.0 slot. I know it can be hit and miss with mixed video cards, anyone tried something similar to this? Edited March 17, 2015 by Kerberos42
yoječ
What's that ATI card you're given? Chances are it supports three screens.
Kerberos42
I'm not sure which one it is, I'll have my paws on it on Thursday. My buddy pulled it out of his old machine that he ran 2 screens with, so not sure about a third. Here's hoping it does, then I won't have to worry about it. Kerberos42
I simply dr0pped the Radeon HD 4800 into my second slot, loaded that catalyst driver, and it's working great. Except that I had a small issue that if the third monitor isn't actually plugged in, it won't work. Once I overcame that significant hurdle, I can now bask in triple 24" HD screen glory. I know, it not as high res as some, but its all I need for now until I can afford 3 4k displays, and a Titan X Edited March 20, 2015 by Kerberos42
Stinky12
Yes you can mix cards from both sides when running as independent displays.
