Whats the difference between a Heist and a Job ?

Recommended Posts

Beside the Fleeca Job, Rockstar delivered only ONE real heist (the last heist).

Everything else is just a job with a little more action. And mostly just because of some new vehicles.

Series A doesnt even have a HEIST at the end. its a mini survival with driving from a to b. the whole thing feels like a normal job.

Or the Prison Break Bus Setup, Thats even less effort than the one Job where you have to help a guy out of the prison bus.

They took a Job, dumbed it down and labeled it "setup"

All this time and effort and in the end its ONE bank heist. ONE!!!!!!!!!!

I feel like Rockstar is doing little effort.

With a good Job Creator Tool, we could easily do such "heists" on our own.

But i do think implementing the heists was a milestone and a good starting point for some true effort towards gta:o

I hope r* delivers a few more bank heists until sommer

bank heists: bank heists with choppers, and hydra's and tanks and sh*t!

In a job you steal goods and get paid

In a heist you steal goods and get paid but with a twist, in a game called grand theft auto you must first heist the vehicle and then pay for it.

Heists are scripted not like contact missions.

Contact missions depends on the features they've added.

There's a scripted coding to spawn some monkeys and make them scream for the humane labs raid.

Now they've implemented heists then they can add more heists and more scripted coding with the upcoming updates.

Don't forget about the cutscenes and new audio ..etc

This can't be done with a godd Job Creator.

Look up the word "heist" in any dictionary, then come back to us.

so i just grabbed this russian dicitonary (u said "any") .... and i cant f*cking find this f*cking word in there.....

i believe you have to check the word ограбление.

OT, i agree with that, however there's a question: you say that these heists (setups at least) are just a bunch of missions. what did you expect? IIRC, heists offline are the same, a bunch of missions.

Look up the word "heist" in any dictionary, then come back to us.

Read the first post and thought of saying this exact same thing. Let's learn a new word, OP.

"A heist is a robbery from an institution such as a bank or a museum, or any robbery in which there is a large haul of loot."

If I need two trucks to bring some drugs, I'd say that's a heist. But what is a robbery, then?

"Robbery is the crime of taking or attempting to take anything of value by force or threat of force or by putting the victim in fear. At common law, robbery is defined as taking the property of another, with the intent to permanently deprive the person of that property, by means of force or fear"

We can instill fear in gang members, we are surely using force to take what we want. So what's the difference? I'm guessing the fact we've all got different positions and tactical gear. But isn't that just a well-organized robbery? If a robbery in GTA is a hold-up of a store (rob a store), then these would be heists, right? Yes. But what's the difference between missions and heists? Are missions heists? Typical GTA objectives so they're not heists. So what we got was typical GTA objects/missions? I'd agree that we did but bundle it up with, as said, positions assigned, budget cuts and an organized team it would pool over from organized robbery to heist. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that heists are the stealthy kind so the EMP at the Humane Labs would be a heist...but we're not taking something, we're putting something...infiltrating it in. Much like Ocean's Eleven but the Wiki says that's a robbery yet they didn't put fear into anyone or used forced. They were silent for most of it. Hell, they also did the EMP thing.

I'm thinking that heist sounds better than The Robbery Update. That's the only reason I think R* worded it in such a way. They saw multiple steps as a heist and not confuse it with a mission where a mission is a one-time thing (Los Santos Connection is the closest to a heist we ever got before) but these heists/missions we have now are paid in part (except the leader). So the team gets paid along the way. Is this how heists work or does it need a name of its own? I honestly have no clue but you'd think that a heist update would contain more banks. In gaming terms, though, that would get boring quite fast. Payday 2 comes to mind and it was a fun game so why not only banks? I'm guessing R* wanted to include new vehicles that would blow sh*t up. We first scope out a small bank on the coastline and then we're on a battleship stealing jets. Please tell me that you'd rather do that than steal some gold in a bank 4 times.

I expected nothing. i am stunned by r* uncreativity.

cutscenes are annoying after a few runs, new sounds are of course to be provided by r*

scripted events like: "attack chopper 3x, after reaching checkpoint C", is really not that tricky to create.

at least in offline mode you got to choose between 2 ways of doing them

Single-player heists: 2 bank jobs. Online heists: 2 bank jobs.

Single-player heist: steal something off a ship or bottom of the ocean guarded by Merryweather. Online heist: steal something from a lab guarded by Merryweather.

And then of course there's a single-player heist where you attack and steal something from a moving vehicle, which isn't really that different than defending something on a moving vehicle.

If you were expecting nothing but bank robberies then you were bound to be disappointed. I'm really glad they didn't do that, cuz the variety is way more interesting than just hitting one bank after another...

should i get into detail here? yes, the humane labs heist IS very good. stealth and teamwork. thats what it should be.

no i dont want to steal some gold in a bank 4 times. but i want 4 banks with four tactics and four goals. in 4 heists.

I was hoping you'd go into detail seeing how I wrote a book. I agree that I also would enjoy having a bank heist exclusive update but we would either have fewer newer vehicles or none if R* were dicks about it. What screams bank heist? Some white van comes to mind. I wonder how many white vans I could buy with all this bank heist money.

Jokes aside, I think that many players were expecting bank heists but seeing how R* made the heist trailer look (and we got what we saw which is rare), I'm sure those thoughts about holding up banks changed for, "holy sh*t, dress up as a cop?!" R* knows their players and make good stuff. Sorry the heist update wasn't called the bank heist update now with 100% more banks.

Check the trailer and please tell me this doesn't soil your pants:

So I wonder why they changed the Hydra heist to night

and what Heist has you parachute into the City?

the base is still the same, you drive somewhere, kill someone, get something, go back

but heist needs teams work, one thing is everyone need to stay alive, so if you see your teammate facing a lot of red circles, you helps, this make a lot of different already

(TBH I dont give a f*ck in mission, just die~~)

another thing is, you HAVE to split into different task force, some have to go in and some have to cover them, people dont do that in mission.

well what more did you expect,

all i heist could have been is multi part Missions, that if one fails all fail....

yes they could have been staged differently like we start a heist and do it 100% before completion, But that would have been a mess..........

Relative007

They are certainly Heists not Missions in the sense of Contact Missions.

My only real issue (less all the connection issues and some decisions R* made in implementing them) are that they are excessively padded out with Driving/Flying in order to artificially make them longer.

Edited by Relative007

When i think about the SP Heists, they let me down too. After the first heist , i believed that taking the same crew members again and not letting them die or basically the choice of whom to take would be of any value. like taking a cheap ass crewmember and by the end of the story he would have joined me with at least 4 or 5 heists. thats what rockstar was all talking about. how great the gta4 heist mission was. and yes, it was great. but what do they do? the only touch the surface with each heist topic. all the SP heists where so totally different that they all only touched the surface of what could have been done.

Understand what i want to say? they choose a bank topic heist and throw that in, then they completley turn in the other direction and start creating something there. they dont dig deeper. i doesnt feel like they really went there and back again, they just opened a window and looked over.
As if they just rushed thorugh all the ideas they had but never really worked one out for 100%. And before the topic gets interesting i am already thrown into something completely else.
