Question regarding upgrading my car

I want to unlock a certain engine for my car. It says I can unlock is after winning 44 races using that class (which is sports) do I need to use my own car or can it be any car within the same class? I've been told different things.

 

Also when I do win races does that number go down, can I check my progress?

Rally, boat, helicopter, bicycle and plane races all count to your total too

Super races unlock every part for every vehicle at the same time, so if you need, let's say, 44 wins in a sports car to get the engine upgrade and 25 wins in an off-road car, once you win a race in a supercar, the counter goes down by one on both. This is quite useful for getting all the unlocks ready at the same time.

 

Also, yes. You can win races in any car, even if it is not custom.

Any sports car, as long as you win.

And as far as I remember, you can even use supers to unlock upgrades for any class

Thanks for the reply (and everyone else) but here's the thing I just won a race and the counter at the mod shop still says 44.

every win in any class unlocks things for all the classes. but the actual number of wins you need for each part in each class varies, which is probably the reason its worded that way in LS Customs For example, lets say for one part you need 20 wins in supers and 15 wins for sedans. you can win races in any class and they'll unlock in the parts.

 

also, race wins only count if you start the race with other people. solo races that start out as solo races dont count, but if everyone else quits in the middle of the race and you win it counts.

 

you need 50 race wins to unlock all of the parts based on race wins

You can use any car to unlock stuff.

But, it has to be an official r* race or verified.

You can search for partners for trading victories. Criminal records 1 lap ftw.
