How do you relate to an angry protagonist?

Now I know there's already a topic of angry protagonists. But I'm asking you how exactly do you relate to a protagonist that's in a bad mood most of the time. For me, it really depends on the way the angry protagonist is written. If he's a psychopath who flips out for no reason at all, he's not relatable. But if he's just plain irritated of dumbasses who ruin things for him and he keeps getting bad luck that happens to him for no reason, I can definitely see where he's coming from. How about you guys?

I could really sympathize with Michael for acting out on his wife being an unfaithful whore and having dumbass kids who don`t listen to him, since I was in pretty much the same boat and have felt like snapping like that many times. Although, I had it worse off than he did so I`m divorced now. Or maybe Michael has more tolerance for bullsh*t than I do. With Niko, I understood him wanting to kill the guy who betrayed his friends so I gladly killed him in the end. I only killed him and Dimitri in IV and I let whoever else I could go, cause I could feel how much he hated those two guys. You can`t be a mild-mannered, down to earth pussycat and do all the things a GTA story requires, not possible. Trevor reminded me of a school bully who harrassed me my whole childhood but it was fun being like the bully for once instead on the receiving end. GTA needs to have tough guys with some built up anger problems as protagonists, but angry women I have to deal with all too often in real life and I can`t do much about it, so I don`t want to see any bitches other than whores in video games where I escape the horrible realities of life.

Trust me, you`d never know it if you met me in person. It`s just that women are horrible, horrible to me and I take it up the ass 24/7 in real life except for when I`m drinking or playing GTA. Do you want to take that from me too?

Maybe you need to stop focusing on the gender of horrible people and stop finding relief in drinking and playing gta only, not to mention stop refering to every woman as a bitch.

But don't listen to me, misoginy, beer, angry internet comments and videogames make a good combination tho.

Nah I lost my cool, I don`t hate women it`s the other way around most of the time. At any rate, you don`t know diddly squat about me and it doesn`t matter anyway. All I`m saying is, those few girls who play GTA will still like it with a male lead and I would hate a female lead. Very few chicks play GTA anyway and they should cater to the target market rather than the minority market. Imagine the main goals in a GTA game being fighting misoginy, fighting for tighter alcohol and prostitution restrictions and for women`s fair wages and what not instead of running with bazookas and throwing large guys out of their trucks, hanging out with total freaks and misfits without them trying to shove their cocks up your vagina etc. etc.

It wouldn't make sense within the context of the story and R* would somehow f*ck it up?

Why is it we can never call certain women out on their bullsh*t without being misogynists?

They're almost as coddled as the blacks in this country now...

(Lel, another thread to descend into the "women in games" argument...)

What was the deal with GamerGate anyway? I've jusr heard there's a feminist called Breanna Wu who blames GamerGate for basically anything. Any more to this story? Edited by Hocko1999_fgc

no, but when you say "i don't want too see bitches in videogames that are not whores" you are really making an statement.

I think angry protagonists are more complex than "calm" protagonists. They have so much charisma and attitude that they come off as entertaining. However, I'd like him to actually have a reason to be angry and not flip out over petty sh*t.

Honestly, I feel that angry protagonists are more relatable than the banal "calm, cool and collected". They tend to have more of negativity and frustration that most of us can relate to.

stop posting "I DON'T WANT TO PLAY AS WOMEN IN THE GAME WHO ARE STUPID BITCHES" so that we can get back on topic

i think that other than the hardcore biker stuff, i relate to johnny k because he sticks it up to the man which i find relatable. i'm not a fan of authority myself, especially authority that is not even legitamate, such as corporations, governments, police, etc. but tbh johnny seems to be calm most of the time.

I can relate to an angry protag just fine, even if he's angry most of the time. I have anger issues so it's good to live through a virtual world and get it all out of my system in the game.

Most people won't relate to this, but it doesn't matter as most people seem to play online now anyway. They live through the game as a mute instead of an angry protag.

Some c*nt mod deleting my posts again...

At least f*cking tell me what I did wrong, at least in your eyes. It seems to be a joke that most of the mods on this site are dickish but I just find that irritating.

^ uh? banned? ^ ??

On topic, Its not a problem for me as long as the game keeps the character written with such a personality limited to the cut scenes and don't force upon me to play him/her within the behavior and attitude of his/her personality while free roaming as well. I mean, I don't want to remain in control of the character which constantly, or on many occasions of interacting with the world outside the story stays loud & angry throughout which will make the character unlikable for me quickly.
