Savage : Not too bad, but certainly not OP!

Recommended Posts

Alrighty, I bought the savage today. It seems oddly balanced, and has its flaws and perks. To show this.. I'll compare it to the Buzzard, another Heli I own.

Major Perks:

EXTREMELY fast RoF explosive cannon.

Can fire missiles infinitely: Literately godly against other helicopters.

Lock on Against AI: Perfect for missions.

Makes mincemeat of armored cars.

Minor Perks:

Looks f*ckin awesome

Doesn't require level 42 to unlock.

Negative Minor Perks:

Long Rotor area. The chances of you getting caught in a bad situation are drastically high.

Major Negative Perks

Horrible Handling and Weight (if someone fires a guided launcher at you, you are f*cked 9/10 times.)

No Protection: a single rocket or smart person with a heavy sniper/minigun will down you in seconds. Same goes to a Gunner Insurgent that you don't have a preemptive strike on.

Buzzard :

Major Perks :

Fastest Heli in the Game.

Lock on Against AI: Perfect for missions.

Minor Perks

Somewhat cheaper then the Savage.

Doesn't require a heist to unlock.

Negative Minor Perks:

Two Dual Machine Guns: Rarely Sees power unless used against Helis, which in most cases a missile is more effective.

Major Negative Perks:

No Protection: a single rocket or smart person with a heavy sniper/minigun will down you in seconds.

Overall, these two choppers both have their situations. If you've bought a buzzard, don't look at the savage and say, "Welp, my Buzzard is worthless now!" The savage is ultimately far better at Air confrontations and land confrontations against the AI. However, it suffers dramatically against land soldiers with Hvy Snipers, miniguns, and guided launchers (At least in the city, in an open field the savage has quite an advantage). The Buzzard is faster, and therefore can avoid rockets and also function as a transportation helicopter, something the Savage is terrible at. Even though the buzzard can't fight land soldiers either effectively, at least it holsters the power to get away from them if things go south.

Thanks for writing this because I'm more of a heli person then a jet person so i was com tinplating on buying this because i have a buzzard

NP! Its a great chopper, it just is no where near the Buzzard's speed. I was used to the buzzards speed (I too am a chopper guy) and when I switched to the savage I was kinda wierded out and got absolutely annihilated by guided launchers. The Savage is a great mission chopper, its just not the OP Freemode Grief Machine that people paint it as. I'd say that goes to the Insurgent with a gunner, Two Shots to the back rotor and any chopper is down :panic:

I totally agree with the OP in regards to the rotor circumference... Normally being used to flying the buzzard in tight spaces, you're always used to seeing the chopper (any chopper) from a certain POV regardless of it's size, this can be disorienting when it comes to scale... so it definitely takes a little bit to wrap your head around just how massive the savage is when it comes to close quarter's maneuvering.

Like trying to fly a fort... Fun chopper though, I have no buyers regrets. :)

If you're a Buzzard pilot like me, it feels more like trying to fly an Airport Bus with wings LMAO! Once you get used to the handling though, that thing is a BEAST in most missions that you'd normally use a Buzzard on.
