RapGod
Good evening, I have a question for the tech savvy people. I want to download the new heist update to try out the new vehicles with the gamesave editor. If I don't like it, I want to go back to the version I have right now. Is it possible to make a backup of the version I have? So, if I don't like the update, I can just delete it, and have the version I have (the one I have now prior to the update). I'm on PS3 by the way. If anyone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you! Officer Ronson
Just use content creator like everyone else has been doing so you can test it on NPCs without dying. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/773423-updating/#findComment-1067107845 Share on other sites
RapGod
I don't want to install the new update due to the fact of all the glitches in the single player mode. I don't play online, and would just use a gamesave editor to have the vehicles. If I do install the update, I want to make sure I can go back to the version I have right now,(which is the version right before the heist update.) Vertighost
I had a thread about not installing the update till the Glitches in SP were fixed...Someone deleted it. So if there is anyway to do this, I would like to know also, but I'm on PS4. I don't think it's possible. K20
as far as i've read so far there is no going back once the update is installed. i'm on the same boat and waiting on a fixed update to be launch before anything is done. hopefully before next month. RapGod
I believe that is is possible to do what I want to do, I just don't know how to do it. Could I get the hydra and all the other vehicles without updating and using the gamesave editor? Or would I need to download the update still to have the files for the vehicles to work? Lethal Vaccine
Nope. Not possible. It's either 1.22 (or whatever they are up to now) or 1.00. I am not sure on PS4/One, but on PS3/360, you CAN go backward, but not one Patch backward. ALL patches are gone if you want to go backward. Personally, I am on Version 1.00 on my PS3. I used to be on 1.11, the High Life Update when we got the Zentorno, Massacro, and Huntley S. But I decided to delete all the nonsense DLC's and roll back to 1.00 where the game performed at it's all time best. There is only one "bug" that may be a game breaker to some, but I know how to avoid the disappearing cars in Safehouse Garages. Other than this "bug," 1.00 runs flawlessly... How do I know how to avoid it? Cuz from staying on 1.00 for so long, I mastered Rockstar's flaws and know ways around them. But their usual nonsense is making a Patch every month, which doesn't give users time to figure things out. But I extensively know how to play on 1.00 and it works best... Just use content creator like everyone else has been doing so you can test it on NPCs without dying. ......Or just spawn then in Single Player and make them INDESTRUCTIBLE... Additionally, from third hand experience many of these patches bring more bugs/glitches of their own. Lethal Vaccine
^^^^^^ I think people finally started realizing that. It only took them 18+ months to figure it out. I knew this since 1.06 when I lost ammo and attachments with my guns as 2 out of 3 Characters. Happened every time I updated until I stopped updating when I hit 1.11 as I was fed up with this sh*t. I don't need toys to make me happy. Thus 1.00 is good enough. Already too many Vehicles in V to begin with and not enough storage space, thus there is no point in having all these DLC's since you can't mod and store all of them... Lethal Vaccine
Take it like this: I wanted a Lazer to be BUYABLE, thus it could stay in the D-Pad List of items. Never happened. However, we get a Hydra now that would do just that. It would be added to the Hanger's D-Pad List. What happened? Game got broke and no Hydra. This is just wishful thinking about a car park. It won't happen. Sure, that sounds nice, but so does having Special Vehicles, too, but they are non-existent in V. V lacks everything to do with Vehicles, which is crazy how it's a GTA title. The magic has been gone for quite some time now... RapGod
So just to clear things up...it isn't possible for me to use the gamesave editor on a previous version to have the new vehicles due to the fact that I don't have the necessary files installed? Lethal Vaccine
Correct. For the Save Editor to work with DLC VEHICLES ONLY (This does NOT count the Stinger GT and the Annihilator from Online) you must have the Patch that contains them in the Game's code. Then Hazard's Editor can do the work at spawning them, even if they are Online exclusive like the Stinger GT and Annihilator. You can get these in Single Player, on ANY Patch... But any DLC Vehicles that are added to the Game by Rockstar with a Patch, you must be on the Patch to get the Vehicles via Save Editor. For me, since I am on 1.00, I can NOT spawn ANY of the DLC Vehicles since on 1.00, they don't exist. But it's for the better, I can assure you that! Lethal Vaccine
Well, with the help of a Save Editor, you can basically get everything and do what you want. You can even get AP Vehicles, but it only works for the Safehouse Garage Vehicles you have inside. Probably has something to do with 4 Car Garages would eat any immunities due to their coding. Same for Helipads, Hangers, and Marina Docks. It's only good for the Safehouse Garage Vehicles. But still, even with the Save Editor allowing me to get AP Vehicles, I don't like it much cuz I do all my stuff clean and there is no legit way to get them in V yet, like there was in IV with a Girlfriend Glitch... Fuzzknuckles
there is no legit way to get them in V yet, like there was in IV with a Girlfriend Glitch... So, using a glitch is a legit way? It still sounds like an exploit to me, that's far from legit. Anyway, on topic: There is one way to do it that I can think of, but you'll need a second HDD for your console. Just swap out the HDD with the old verison, swap in the new, set it up, install V, get the update. When you're done, put the old version back in and remember to skip update offers. But that's a lot of effort to avoid some little bugs. Lethal Vaccine
Ok, for the people who take things to literal: No Trainers, Mods, Cheats, Save Editors, etc is used, thus it's LEGIT. A glitch which can be used to your advantage in the game isn't the same. Furthermore, NO outside source is used to achieve what you need. You're not gonna get a +1 in your Stats, like when you type in Cheats... Uh.....Or you could use a USB Drive and probably keep the specific patch you want on the USB Drive, so you can roll back. I am surprised someone didn't do this yet. Someone should of took the liberty of making Version 1.00, 1.01, 1.02..............1.22, then we could download any version we choose to use, considering they are all different and have different bugs and glitches. Granted, as I been saying all along, 1.00 is the least buggy. RapGod
That's what I was saying. How would I save the patch on a usb drive, so I can just roll it back if I don't like the new patch. RapGod
Would this work: save my current game on a flashdrive...then download the update...play on it. If I don't like it...uninstall all updates. Then upload my saved game from the flashdrive. Would I be back where I started? CanOdope
I'm not certain, but I think you would need more than just your savegame on the USB. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/773423-updating/#findComment-1067115635 Share on other sites

CanOdope
Basically, from my understanding, the only way you could do it is if you already had the game installed on a USB before updating to the patch you intend to keep. Then you could simply pull the USB, install the game to your HDD, and update to the most recent patch to try it out. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... Lethal Vaccine
Yeah, it's too complicated to do this. It's either 1.22 which is trash and broke the game or it's 1.00. There is no in between... Fuzzknuckles
I explained what you need to do already. You need to remove your hard drive with the version you want to keep, replace it with a fresh drive, install V, then apply the latest update. When you're done, replace the old hard drive back into the console, and you will have the old version. Need it drawn in crayons? RapGod
Would using an external hard drive work for this? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/773423-updating/#findComment-1067117872 Share on other sites
Fuzzknuckles
It has to be a drive you can physically put inside the machine I believe. So, yeah, if you crack the case open and take the drive out... it's the same size drive as a PS3/4 takes - just make sure it's compatible first. Top tip to anyone wanting to upgrade your PS HDD - buy a removable drive, it'll be cheaper than standalone drive, you just have to pop it out of the case.
