Flare Gun Appreciation

Am I the only one in love with the new flare gun, feels like the closest thing to a flamethrower. Besides the first day hiccups with connection issues, ive been very pleased with the update so far, actually has me interested in GTAO again.

Didn't get to use it much before sever issues pissed me off. Was able to kill a hooker with it and it looks nice in LSPD tint.

I was like OMFG earlier when I accidenly lit another player ablaze,fully engulfing them.

then I was like WTF? when it didn't kill them. Cool toy,but too weak for pvp.

The flares bounce off autos btw.

Coolest feature is you can change the colour of the flare by changing the tint on the gun.

Not very vibrant...

 

Colours are as follows:

 

default - red/orange

Army - brown

Green - brown (more murky than army)

Orange - orange (simply a more vibrant version of the default flare)

LSPD Blue - blue and grey mixture

Pink - VERY vibrant pink

Gold - VERY vibrant gold

Platinum - silver/white (my personal favourite)

Well yeah they'll bounce, they aren't grenades.

I got it and it´s awesome.I love setting NPCs on fire and blowing up parked cars(it´s possible,just shoot a few flares under them and wait a little).The gun also looks cool with platinum tint,looks like a real gun.

How much do the rounds cost? If they are expensive then there doesn't seem to be much use of it outside of heists.

i think its cool. its the closest thing to a revolver in gta 5 besides the revolving grenade launcher. does anybody know if it will come in singlepllayer? i checked ammunation but it was not there.

Has anyone done any testing on the range the flare is viewable from. Can it be seen easily from the air? Just wondering if you could have "ground troops" and then the air support coming in and hosing anyone within range of the flair.

I have not set anyone on fire but it is pretty decent. Love shooting them in the sky at night.

Strange. I had it the moment I logged in for the first time and when my character stepped outside the apartment, the flare gun was already equipped and in my weapon wheel. Glitch probably?

It's a pretty cool toy to have. I just randomly fire it while my friends drive. They tend to get distracted and crash.

My first start after the patch i started with the flaregun in my hand w/o ever purchasing it. I then went to ammu-nation and still had to buy it and i also bought all the tints.

 

Since the connection issues started, when i fail to start a mission/heist i am returned to the middle of the downtown area with the flaregun in my hand and my car has been placed in my garage. On further analysis I seem to be starting with the flare gun equipped no matter when or where I spawn.

Might be related to the bug where right after 1.21 came out, some people were able to buy the heist vehicles without having played any of the heists... R* patched it pretty quickly though.

 

Personally, I love the flare gun! It brings out the TF2 Pyro in me. I can't wait to emanate my muffled gas mask laughter after BBQ'ing a griefer.

 

Heck, in some circumstances it might even be as useful as proximity mines--need to do some more testing; it certainly provides a new way to "snipe" enemies and even the obnoxious convenience store owner stupid enough to tell an armed robber to "now get out of here". Proximity mines are good in that they have a delayed kill effect--perfect for those few but needed times when you just don't have an extra second or two to detonate the sticky(ies).

haven't tried the other tints(but i certainly can, since i bought all of them(i always do)

but i like LSPD, must seem like a star in the sky though.

could be useful though if you need to signal a friend where to shoot, and provide air support, or if you need heli pick-up from friends, in the middle of a session wide skirmish. and doesn't know where to land.(and very high chance of getting it wrong since, the amount of different tint colors.
