Losing A Heist

When you lose a heist what happens? Are the upfront costs covered for the leader or does he walk away from the heist worse.

 

Also what is the life system like?

Respawn at the last checkpoint.

I imagine the checkpoints are limited

I imagine the checkpoints are limitedIt's just like any other mission on GTA Online, you can retry it as many times as you like. If somebody leaves the heist, you just get a checkpoint for whichever part of the missions you are on and you can invite others.
