Pretty sure I just lost my character (BE CAREFUL)

With all the server nonsense going on, I exited out of the game and tried again about 10 minutes later... game told me I could not begin GTA Online because my character transfer was not yet complete.

 

Now, I suspect that when the servers clear up, my character will be safe and sound... but this doesn't bode well.

 

My advice?

 

Put down your controller and walk away for now. Don't lose all your sh*t because Rockstar's servers are a mess.

Yah this is why I planned my heisting for this weekend. Have the download all installed and ready to go. Ive learned from the past. Ill wait till it clears up.

Not going to waste my time just yet, I'm going to wait for the servers to stabilize to see if it comes back. If it is gone, as long as they restore my progress and give me enough money to buy my cars and property back, I'll be happy. Plenty of guns I'd rather not own again anyway.

 

At least I spammed the hell out of the PS4's video capture feature so I have proof of my character stats and level before it all went to sh*t.

your fine. Mine says that every time I load from single to multi. My old herp lip guy is always there.

 

I just called my wife to have her start the download which was already installed and she got the same message but I just told her to hit x as usual and she went right into online and all was fine.

Social club is acting funky. I got a message about character transfer exceeded and was like "wtf?" I got back in and everything was fine except for my crew emblem and black t shirt. i went under crews and it said social club wws down. Sure enough, i can't log in on my phone

I doubt your character is lost.

It's done that before for me. Don't worry just restart gta v again. It'll be fine

Yeah I had a feeling it wouldn't be gone forever. Lost my favorite Coquette once a few months ago. Loaded the game and it wasn't in my garage, Mors didn't have it, and it wasn't at the impound/no PV icon on the map. Just gone.

 

Called another vehicle, went about my day, came back to my garage and it was there.

This...I hopped on during my lunch break to check out some of the new stuff and the game wasn't recognizing that I was in a crew or allowing me to put my crew logo on anything. I figure it'll clear up later.

Social Club's been weird - keeps signing me out of the site, won't let Snapmatic photos upload easily, and I've had several moments where the game's either had 'save failed', or just booted me back out to single-player due to 'failure to connect to R* game services'.

Between that, and a (thankfully not permanent) glitch that scrambled my character's appearance (on Xbox One - not the same issue that's affecting old-gen players, but similar), I'm tempted to take a short break from GTAO until there's decent word that everything's stable again - because it's all looking like a right royal hash at the moment...
