Heist "rules"

Feel free to add, I finally finished the Prison Break-out heist and I think I found every single game-ending rule you can break other than dying or someone lagging out:

Obviously, stock up on snacks and armor before starting.

Keep the prison bus on route. (It's GPS tagged, until you get to the airport?)

Kill the prison bus driver on the first shots without missing. (he alerts the police)

Neither the helicopter nor the airplane can be destroyed.

Some of the sections are timed!

The military jets will fire rockets at the helicopter, some times.

The prison guard shooting at you is supposed to happen. (Replayed 3 times before I found out we didn't screw up)

Everyone gets in the airplane except the helicopter pilot.

(Flying tight circles is fairly effective at preventing missiles from hitting you and allows the helicopter to target the jet)

No Pegasus or phone-help in heists. Not even mechanic.

Don't jump out of the airplane. Wait for the cut-seen which forces you out.

Keep the helicopter far away from the parachutes.

For God sake, be careful boarding the helicopter on the beach. You also need the helicopter to complete the mission.

The helicopter won't target guards in the prison while defending the airplane.

Pretty much if you think of anything to shave some time off the heist, it will probably fail you out of the mission.

Hahaha I've announced the following rules to whatever crew I invite:

Rule 1: no dying

Rule 2: no killing other players.

Rule 3: no suicides.

Some of these rules may overlap, but these are the rules. Follow 'em and you'll do great!

When you're in the plane I've found it's 100000x easier to just fly behind the Lazer. You can basically fly 10 feet behind the thing without it ever wanting/considering to turn around. That way you can wait for the helicopter pilot to get in the air without even having to dodge 1 missile.

Yep. Wait until the lazers are on your minimap, then turn around tightly, you will pass within a few metres of them but they won't engage.

on the prison one if you are the "prisoner" make a run to Ammunation before going in. Buy an assault riffle. Seriously helps cuz all you get otherwise is an AP pistol with little ammo and smgs you pick up and most shooting is long range

Co-ordination is essential in the last setup mission for Humane. And a setup for Series A Funding.

It's actually easier to get behind the jets with the Velum, and then let the helo shoot them out. Also, if you are a decent pilot, wait at LSI for a while, so you'll have to deal with less Lazers.

Shoot the big barrell thingy when you get to the passage with the two buses. So no one else will, and it won't blow you up. Also, the blown up bus can be good cover.

Pick up SMGs dropped by NOOSE as the prisoner.

Shoot the two guards as soon as you get off the prison bus.

Yep, this. But I think it will be patched soon, as you are not supposed to carry anything else.

If a competent pilot tells you it's okay to leave him alone with the Lazer, and to perhaps help the poor prisoner and guard at the prison; don't.

The SAM blew up the Buzzard the instant I encroached into the airspace. No warning or any indication a missile was coming for me.

- Try to get to the rooftops of the prison from opposite sides so you have better coverage of the turds trying to kill you.

- For the love of God, make a competent player the pilot and give the demolitions job to the less experiences member of your team.

- Don't try to rush anything, it isn't worth it.

- Flying circles around the Jets is a very effective strategy, as is staying at the airport a little while longer.

- That stupid checkpoint at the very end is glitchy. Sometimes it never works because you can't get rid of the wanted level and at other times, it just won't end the mission. Beware about that and think of all the good in your life when it happens.

- Don't play the second heist of hard if you don't have an elite team of GTA Online players. The window for screwing up is very tiny.

If your wanted level is stuck you need to land somewhere safe with lots of cover (construction towers) and everyone get out.

Do not fly anything over the prison.

Let the prisoner get in the front of the truck.

General rule of driving in any mission:

Keep your snacks menu up so all you have to do to fill up is hit x. You can even shoot out or be the gunner and do this.

Everyone in a car should have the snacks preselected.

I couldn't even finish The Prison Break because the I cant get my crew together for one setup without them timing out.

This is probably too technical, but everyone share each other's IP address.

Then ping each other to see if anyone has a poor connection to the other.

If there's a problem person, they'll have to fix their internet.

For a baseline, you can ping 8.8.8.8 (a google DNS server) to make sure your own connection to the internet is stable.

Also, in xbox settings there is a network details button you can hit which will cause xbox to run a bandwidth and latency test. Though, in my opinion, it's too brief to capture good data.

I keep the pings running to the other three players indefinitely.

Tips:

Xbox wired connection only.

Try to get NAT Type to be OPEN. Google will help.

Before you start playing power cycle / reboot your modem and router and xbox.

Make sure nobody is watching videos on the internet somewhere else if you can avoid it.

You don't even need to keep the bus on route. I take shortcuts all the time.

Dont use a motorcycle! Its too easy to crash and die on your way to your destination.. Im tired of failing missions just because some noob falls off his motorcycle or gets shot from being exposed. You would think this would be common sense!

Don't fire your gun when you don't need to.

For stealth missions, pay attention to whats behind your target.

Garbage truck delivery mission: back the garbage truck up to where the garbage is after the collectors hop off.

Randoms who join for the first time the final mission should get paid jack.

Stealing Hydra: Fly in tight circles will make you almost impossible for the npc to shoot you down.
