Jeremy Clarkson sacked by the BBC

He always used to make certain remarks about some of the cars in the show too that I wasn't fond of.

He's been making racist slurs against cars now as well. Glad this bigot is getting the sack.

What has been the most eye opening g thing about this whole scenario is there's over 800000 of Chris crookers in the world.

I think it's fact that If he does leave his perfect job would be working for the British national party. I think he would fit right in.

pretty sure that comparing Britney Spears to Jeremy Clarkson is a false equivalency, but hey, whatever helps you sleep at night.

Although factual is a very loose term.

Why is it that most of the people who dislike Jeremy don't even watch Top Gear? Funny that.

Cars aren't human you dipsh*t.

Good, I hope he gets fired. I don't generally watch Top Gear, but I've never liked the guy. As it's already stated; this ain't the first time he's gone over the line with his attitude and ways.

A lot would say he's the life and soul of Top Gear but I think that's all based on biased opinions. He may of started the show (Forgive my knowledge if I'm wrong somewhere here), but that doesn't mean the show can't live without him. Just find someone else. I mean it's not like he's a character in an actual show like Friends, Scrubs, Star Trek, etc, he's merely the main presenter. Someone can take his place.

If he does get completely fired from the BBC, he's only got himself to blame and I'd be glad to see the back of him. He always used to make certain remarks about some of the cars in the show too that I wasn't fond of.

If you'd actually watched Top Gear, you'd actually know what a load of sh*t your entire post is.

I think you're missing the point m8. ryanhunter_rfc seems to be implying that folks dislike Clarkson because they don't watch Top Gear, when it's possible they don't watch Top Gear because they dislike Clarkson.

I doubt it, given that he's pretty chummy with David Cameron et al. You really have come up with some complete tripe in this thread.

Losing Clarkson may not be the worst thing in the world. It may force the producers to change it up a bit. I've been watching Top Gear since the early 90's and while I did enjoy the newer format at first, I surely can't be alone in now finding the show a bit stale and boring? I still watch it, but for the last couple of years I fast forward most of the show and just watch the stuff about new cars mostly. Personally I don't give a f*ck about some celebrity selling their latest film, book, tv programme etc and the scripted "banter" between the presenters makes me cringe more often than not. They had a good innings , probably over a decade, but it's time for something different.

I was joking anyhow! I'm well aware of his "Friends" and his distaste in the BNP anyway.

I may have said alot of tripe but that's in your opinion just like what i said is my own opinion on the facts I've seen presented. I think the first video i posted pretty much sums up that i just think it really is one big joke whatever side you lay on! At the end of the day he's just another overpaid b grade celeb whose wages can be spent elsewhere in the BBC. Anyone would think the way everyone has reacted either way that it's this big old crime against humanity or something potentially giving clarkson the sack!

Holy sh*t.... Talk about unprofessional on the BBC's part.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2995106/Astonishing-remarks-Gear-affair-senior-BBC-boss-claims-Clarkson-like-Savile.html

Notable quotes:

The BBC launched an astonishing attack on Jeremy Clarkson yesterday, comparing him to sex offender Jimmy Savile

Most controversially, the TV chief, who has been directly involved in the fallout from the incident, likened Clarkson’s supporters – including the Prime Minister – to those who turned a blind eye to Savile’s appalling crimes.

The comparison will inevitably anger Savile’s victims. Conservative MP Conor Burns, who sits on the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee, said that ‘it is not just patently absurd, it’s also deeply offensive to Jeremy Clarkson and those innocent people who were horribly abused by Savile’.

I'm sorry, comparing him to Savile, suggesting the PM doesn't care paedophilia and potentially angering Savile's victims? The two (Clarkson and the BBC) are just as bad as each other at this point.

There was an interesting comment piece by AA Gill in the Times today. Now, we have to take what he says with a pinch of salt because a) he's one of Clarkson's chums and b) he hates the BBC, but it did raise a number of interesting points. First of which is that claim that something of a "crusade" against Clarkson has happened since changes in the senior management at the BBC took place. The second, which I didn't know, was that Clarkson is the principle scriptwriter for the series rather than just a presenter- so I don't buy the notion that TG would continue in any form similar to its current one should he leave. Sky have been after him for years, apparently. Most of the rest of his comments raved at the hypocrisy of the BBC- decades of covering up far worse impropriety conducted by their employees in recent years, the allegation that much of the management, Director General aside, are left-wing and seek to take the BBC down a different path- the usual centre-right hack stuff. But one other comment struck me- that, as well as Top Gear having a bad year, so has Clarkson personally. First the death of his mother, and then ongoing "health problems" which I'm not really aware of but Gill seems to be privy to.

Quite frankly, I don't particularly care what happens to him at the BBC. I enjoy Top Gear but if the BBC wants to take it out behind the shed and shoot it (in its current form), I don't particularly care. I'm not sure how much of the brand they "own", and I don't think there's much to stop Clarkson et al just taking it to another broadcaster- I'd bet most are interested. But personally I don't see it happening unless Clarkson jumps rather than being pushed, which given how much he seems to hate the current BBC general management I wouldn't be surprised about. It's not like there isn't a precedent for well-paid public servants to keep their jobs despite punching people in the face.

He's really quite a bit more than a presenter on the show to be honest.

Regardless of whether you watch or like the show or not, it wouldn't be the same show without him.

TBH that's pretty much what i was saying anyway or trying to get across! I think it's fairly obvious that the BBC gave him a hell of a talking to when they put him on his final warning. With having a pretty much worldwide show nowdays there's alot of other pressures and other criteria to take into account and Jeremy in recent years has had to apoligise multiple times now so its pretty obvious you will only be able to push your luck so far.

SVrfuRv.jpg

This picture of him the morning after the night before pretty much sums up the situation for me, you don't even need to see him from the front to be able to tell this is a man who realizes he may have just thrown it all away and is dealing with his thoughts in solitude. He himself apparently phoned the BBC to tell them about it so he did the right thing but that doesn't change the fact that he knew he was already on shaky ground with the BBC. He himself has said "He is a dinosaur" the world has moved on and now he feels like he needs to move on his world has been the BBC for the last 20 years.

Jeremy in recent years has had to apoligise multiple times now so its pretty obvious you will only be able to push your luck so far.

I really don't understand this sentiment.

the handful of times that Clarkson has made public apologies were over such irrelevant incidents.

he's only ever been forced to apologize for words and jokes which rubbed certain groups of people the wrong way; minority groups, by the way. it's always been these little special interest groups that go and stir up an internet hashtag or letter-writing campaign to harass the company (in this case the BBC). it's always a minority of people that are offended but they're more vocal and organized than the CLEAR MAJORITY of people who are not offended yet remain silent. it's always a minority of pussies and whiners pushing their agenda onto a majority of well-adjusted people who don't see any issue.

so the BBC (like every other company that falls into this trap) feels like they're being pressured to act because a handful of advertisers gets fed up with all the stupid complaint letters they're receiving. it's not representative of a problem and it's not evidence that the offender in question (in this case Clarkson) is racist/sexist/bigoted or anything other than a bloke trying to make a joke.

he's not pushing his luck.

this world is just getting more and more Politically Correct and censorship is going way too far. people feel like they have the right to NOT be offended in this world. and that's bullish/t. you don't have the right to not be offended. this is a big world full of all different kinds of people with varying tastes and values. you have to learn how to take things in stride, with a grain of salt, to see through the ridiculous irony, or JUST IGNORE IT. if you don't like somebody, don't watch them. it's that simple. if Clarkson is guilty of anything it's just this latest incident of punching his producer.

aside from that he has only ever made a bunch of dumb, off color, jock-type jokes on his silly TV show about fast cars and slow old men. why are you or anyone so upset? I can't believe some people are reading so far into this nonsense and holding Clarkson up on this moral high-ground that you expect him to live up to. where do you get this idea?

ugh.

hyper-Liberal PC police are killing the fun and joy in this world....

so there's no commercials if I'm watching Top Gear on a television in Bristol?

I'm speaking generically about how these offensive campaigns usually work.

they target advertisers who are affiliated with the program.

doesn't change the fact that it's a minority of people actually complaining.
