Prison break should take a hour or 2 at best. The only time you need a mic is to set up a landing zone for your pilot, in which case, just decide where you'll land before starting the heist.

 

In general all the heist roles are fairly clearly marked out, like in contact missions, also the cut scenes explains a little of what to do as well. There isn't really a need for mic, just common sense. Move as a group and cover your teammate. The only time having a mic makes any big difference is is the 2 stealth missions, the Humane Labs EMP mission and Series A Lost champ mission. Some of these guards you and a friend need to take out 2 at once or you risk being seen, so a mic helps there.

 

Otherwise all the roles as I said are laid out much like contact jobs, and all you need is common sense and teamwork.

None of my friends use mics, we're all on KINECT, but the Heists seem so scripted that I can imagine playing without communication...

 

But I still can't imagine playing with randumbs...

Ive only played up to the Prison Break heist, but it seems theres a big element of luck involved. If you get one or more bad players on your team, they will probably mess up leading to mission failure, especially if they are assigned a difficult task. In the future, I'll try and find out which role is most difficult, and take it on for myself, in order to minimize mission failure.

I've almost done that. It doesn't handle flying upside down so it's easy to see how it happens.

ALL the heist are fairly simple even on hard (the getaway on the last one may be hard). Its just that most randoms dont know what the fck to do and simply lack the basic ability to stay alive and use cover. Having a mic wont randomly improve their behavior.

 

OP you can do all the heist without mic. I did them all and only the last heist gave me trouble because of randoms.

. You aren't forced to use a sniper. Their health is much lower than standard enemies. The alarm isn't triggered instantly....no where near instant tbh. I'm sure you can figure the rest out.

Any player their salt can complete the heists without a mic. It's not that hard, just watch your crew mates and keep an eye on them then take point. The only way you can screw up Deliver EMP is if the only way you know how to play a game is guns blazing.

I finished all 5 Heists in order as a leader without mic. Mostly with random people.

 

It was a pain, but not because of no mic. It's rather these dumb assholes those cannot play!

A quick aside. Not all randoms are dumb. They are just asynchronous to the objective

Mic only really helps if you want something done a specific way. For the most part heists are straight forward, and only an idiot can mess them up... Sadly, this is about 80% of the GTA:O population. If someone has a mic, I'll do what they tell me. Otherwise I get the job done best way I know how.

 

I have, however, wished I'd had a mic many times. Just so I could tell the other players what f*ckheads they were...

I have one...but its tricky so i dont use it that much. Tbh its really hard for the whole team to not have mics. The only way i saw it possible was to have lvl 150 and up. Even then some high lvls still fail. Was doing convoy setup earlier.

-1 idiot saw the truck, insurgent and jeeps pile and launched a rocket at it.

-host was getting to close to the jeeps...me being the gunner i was frantically trying to kill the jeeps [this was on hard btw] so they just kept coming. Aswell as the savages. The problem where the jeeps, the third guy sitting with us was getting shot at and almost dead....host doesnt know because no one had a mic to tell him to back off. Guy died i quit. I passed this mission multiple times...with me having to be the insurgent driver...some people r just sh*t drivers or just dont forsee what might occur to others..

If youre unfamiliar with a vehicle in the middle of a heist dont play with it

Play a 6-8 player mission, like Judging the Jury or The LS Connection, and then invite those who did alright to a heist

 

It's like the public audition step of X Factor...

Oh, and I like to keep a USB keyboard next to me if playing off-mic so I can tap out abusive in-game texts about people's IQ levels fairly quickly.

I think many crew leaders prefer people with mics, so it can be hard to get into a crew (unless you make one.) Just hoping a few PC players play without mics, so I can join them.

Was easy did criminal mastermind without a mic personally twice. Common sense and knowing the game is far more important than talking overall ofc some parts need some co op though

Completed every heist in order without a mic, the few times I had to say something important for the completion of a mission/heist I've used my keyboard, of course a mic would've done it too, just saying it's not too big of a deal without.

 

and also completed them all with 'randoms' so the whole no mic and random is too hard, is a myth. As long as they can read you should be fine.

I'v completed 4 out 5 heists with randoms with no mics,

It's not as bad as everyone makes out,yes sometimes you get a complete and utter moron who can't play the game.

Just get over it and move on.

..which then we used a simple plan, like "I left, you right", "i shot first, then you", "this/that guys next", "ready", and so on.
