I miraculously somehow got on after one retry but of course I can't get any friends to join. While I'll admit that I saw this coming, it's still so infuriating when you can't use said product because the owners once again were not prepared...

Are you seriously thinking ,you ,a single human on a forum: " they should have prepared" ,but a maaaaassive company like R* ,with whole departments handling support of players and online didn't?Seriously,i'm sure 100% of people saying "they haven't prepared" ,placed in the position to "prepare" the servers ,wouldn't do any better (even if they had the knowledge).It's not as simple as "buy more servers".R* have to set up servers at different points of the globe,operated and supported by other companies ,and it isn't as simple as most people think.Most people probably imagine a huge hall or a building somewhere and its full of servers...but like i said,it doesn't always work like that.

Yep, got that for a while until I restarted the game. Now I can't even enter Online; I get the "Files required to play GTA Online are not available. Please return to Grand Theft Auto V" error message every time.

Just managed to get back on... Try rebooting routers and turning ps4 off and on! Worked for me just

If you click on the details it says Xbox 360 specifically, Free Mode is still working for me at the moment on Xbox One (UK) but I don't know how long that will last.

I've got online on PS4. Just keep on single player doing fast jobs like cab fare so the game attempts to save on cloud, every attempt check to see if online is available, it worked here. But once in, you should only be able to mess up with cars, clothes.. No jobs available.

I'm sorry for those who still expect good things from Rockstar. I've been playing games developed by these guys since the 90s and have discovered very early on that they are very good a creating a hype, then screwing it up completely.

 

Rockstar does not do much research when developing games like they should.
