Is R* being honest about the justification of the delays?

for me I would like singleplayer to work flawlessly on launch day, im'm not a big fan of gta v online lol.

GTA Online will most likely not work properly day one, and that's fine. I don't care. It'll work within launch week. Online is difficult for any company to handle day one. I understand this, and don't care.

 

Agreed, I for one can't wait to play around with the new (for me, at least) aircraft

Why wouldn't R* just make direct deals with Steam, Sony and MS. With their name, these three would gladly make any deal without taking a giant cut off the money. All of them are also known as publisher, and can still do some dirty work like advertisement and disc manufacturing.

Sony probably wouldn't let them keep the rights, MS might try and force them to use another DRM like GFWL, and Steam would probably make it a Steamworks game (personally I have no problem with that, but other people might.) It might be best for them to just self-publish at this point, they're certainly big enough to do it.

It was almost certainly delayed for financial reasons - both for maximum console sales, and the passing of a new financial year (starting in late March or April) which would cut tax on the PC sales and make a bigger profit. It's Rockstar, so don't believe it when they say it's for polish and whatnot.

I want to believe Rockstar wanted to move the game in March but got muzzled by Take2 due to fiscal year shenanigans. But that's just the idealist in me talking.
