Apparently R* keeps delaying the game. They have delayed the game at least 4 times. One time even delaying 2 weeks before the supposed release date of January 27, 2015. Its one thing to delay a Product. But it's another to keep missing deadlines. Personally I don't think they are being Honest. Alot of stuff just doesn't add up.

Totallycasual

If any of you believe that a full 2 month (lol slight change) delay just sneaked up on them 2 weeks before release when they should have already been printing DvD's then i don't know what to say. I believe they knew a very long time before then and it was a simple case of spreading out the multi platform releases to maximize profits.

And in order to squeeze an extra few dollars out of the console market they've totally screwed the good name they had among gamers, now people talk about them like they're Ubisoft.

Polish and perfection just doesn't stick for me.

Well, maybe it did earlier, but this delay is either T2's fault or a technical hitch on consoles, which given the late arrival of Heist, no Valentines DLC (as I guess Heists was scheduled for then) and the fact that the XBox One problems (connection and regular hanging issues are well known) might well be the reason.

But R* are too proud to admit they have console issues, so they just wrap it up in 'polishing for PC.'

Oh well. At the end of the day, nothing can change a past. Nothing to do but look at the bright side. At the end of this week, we will be where we were when they delayed it to april. 27 days.

Thats like 4 weeks. FOUR. (ASSUMING it doesnt get delayed to may, Like i suspect they will do if they really want to be pricks. -announced with the trailer-) eventually it will be may and we would have been playing the game for 2 weeks already.

The wait is almost over. Hang in there guys!

I've held my tongue long enough regarding everyone here saying Rockstar hates PC gamers, don't care about them, they only care about consoles, etc. Maybe they're right, because consoles is Rockstar's moneymaker, but come on, they have a reason for delaying the games. All you folks here are a bunch of whiny turds. If Rockstar delays the game, you bitch. If they came out with the game now and it ran like crap, you bitch. I suggest you stop bitching right now. If the game comes out on April 14th and does run like sh*t, THEN you can bitch, because that's complete bullsh*t that they'd delay the game 3 times and it runs as good as GTA IV, but it's also bullsh*t that I come onto a forum like this, a forum DEDICATED to Grand Theft Auto, and I hear people bitch all the time about the developer of said game series. Yes, I got annoyed too with these delays, but I never took it to the level I seen most take it to, especially here, because I knew once the game was finished, it'll run well. Maybe there'll be a few bugs in the game - that's expected, Rockstar will patch them. Any other minor bugs that Rockstar left behind, the modders will likely patch up.

Now, at the question at hand. Is Rockstar being honest about the justification of the delays? I voted perhaps. Rockstar has to have some balance to the continuing development of GTA V (GTA Online comes to mind). I'm sure that GTA V on consoles is being focused on for the most part with updates coming in from time to time, and while all this is going on, they're touching up the PC version as they go along. They probably finished the PC version awhile ago, but then Heists came up, hence the delay to March 24th, then April 14th, and making sure Heists work well on PC with as little bugs as possible. Also, seeing the system requirements, looks like Rockstar is going to optimize the game well. It is questionable with the CPU requirement showing only quad-cores, but the GPU requirements - GeForce 9800GT MINIMUM??? That card is ancient. That was NVIDIA's 2nd generation of DX10 cards - yes, DirectX 10! Most games out there from what it seems, don't agree with cards that old. The fact that Rockstar is making GTA V run on hardware that old shows that they are trying for the best optimization possible - maybe.

Sleepy Dude

Heres how it goes: if the game releases with great optimization, little server lag, and few bugs, everyone will love rockstar and we will never know if they were delaying it for the reasons they said, or if the game was always in this great state. However, if the game releases a buggy, laggy, unplayable mess, then we know rockstar was lying and everyone will be pissed at them

Yeah. I agree. Delaying it by a few weeks at a time arent going to fix much bugs between now and releasing it. I bet these bugs are trivial and can be easily patched. No Game is ever perfectly bug free on launch anyways. Business is certainly involved. Especially when they didnt release the PC version during the holidays. Alot of people would get the new consoles and GTA V for console. Something that Sony and Microsoft would benefit heavily from. R* needs to be more transparent. But they dont have to because almost all their customers are suckers. (Look at the stuff they put on the newswire.)

If you mean bitching by whining like "Omg Cockstar sux. i hope cockstar dies!! wahhhh!" then I agree with you. but if you mean bitching by providing actual criticism and constructed arguments and genuine complaints then I dont agree.

I've chosen "They are not being COMPLETELY Honest'. Why? Because that's what I feel... I don't have an explanation for this. Something's fishy with Rockstar.... Either marketing stuff or... I don't know.

Hopefully, the game will be optimised. I've pre-ordered it, since they said the game will work well on PC. But if they lied, this will be the first and last time I pre-order or purchase a game at full price from them.

I believe they are polishing it, but it isn't the only reason, my guess is Take-Two wants a big release for the new fiscal year which starts in April, so all the PC sales add to the new years revenue.

Everythang... THANG you said is subjective and short sided. Rockstar never give a reason for delay besides "polishing". Hell, sometimes they don't even announce a delay - they stand us up, and then a month later, the apologize for the subject matter not being available.

Haven't you noticed? Rockstar have delayed more in the last two years than most other game companies have delayed EVER. And they REFUSE to communicate. God forbid I mention heists but oh well... Why couldn't we know what problems they were having?

In short - I adore Rockstar's games. But the company is full of either complete jerks or total idiots.

What the actual f*ck.

Gonna need a citation on that, when has TB done this?

I never said he did that. It wasn't until recently he started saying "mileage may vary" due to all the hate he got on reddit for sending his little hammer legion members out with guns a blazing on games that simply didn't work with him, and his particular configuration.

Plus his constant bitching that he doesn't get review copies of games, despite in his own words him NOT being a reviewer, and his incorrect use of the word "port". Dear god. The guy needs an education.

I have no opinion on the guy either way, but your seriously salty, over what seems to be nothing (you hated him enough to bring him up in this thread with no prior mention just for the sake of name bashing).

And heeeerrrreeee comes the TB whiteknighting.

You know that's not what I asked, when has he complained about optimization on a game that runs well in reality?

I never said he did that. It wasn't until recently he started saying "mileage may vary" due to all the hate he got on reddit for sending his little hammer legion members out with guns a blazing on games that simply didn't work with him, and his particular configuration.

Plus his constant bitching that he doesn't get review copies of games, despite in his own words him NOT being a reviewer, and his incorrect use of the word "port". Dear god. The guy needs an education.

You just said he did that in your very next sentence.

I have no opinion on the guy either way, but your seriously salty, over what seems to be nothing (you hated him enough to bring him up in this thread with no prior mention just for the sake of name bashing).

I don't hate him; and I'm not salty. It's just an observation. Whatever he sh*ts on, people group-sh*t on. "Mileage may vary" isn't in his fanboys vocabularies.

If the game releases with great optimization but doesn't run well for Totalbiscuit (because he's a giant toolbox who doesn't know what he's doing), people will be pissed at rockstar and call it horribly optimized, while repeatedly using words like "beta state" and "alpha state" as if they know what it means.

If a game cannot hit over 60 frames with a 980 or sli titans, the game is unoptimized, it's as simple as that.

If you mean bitching by whining like "Omg Cockstar sux. i hope cockstar dies!! wahhhh!" then I agree with you. but if you mean bitching by providing actual criticism and constructed arguments and genuine complaints then I dont agree.

The "fuk u cockstar" whiners. I swear they're everywhere here. Seems they take things WAY too serious. Anyways, I said what I said.

It's unlikely the delays are for actual polishing, and instead probably to release heists on consoles first to boost the sales a bit more.

Metal Gear Solid V : Ground Zeroes it's one of the best ports of all time, and although the map is very small compared to GTA V, it has excellent graphics, runs very well, and the last game this people released on PC was MGS2 back in 2001-2002. and the FPS are always steady no matter what, and the game was given a specific date for PC and never delayed, all this with a team with barely any experience on PC.

Although GTA V is bigger, Rockstar Games has x5 the developers, more experience, and even with all those resources they have delayed the game 3 times already.

Polishing ? Unlikely, more like heists on consoles first.

If the heists don't boost those sales , especially on PS4 as expected, don't be shocked if they delay it again.

That's not entirely accurate. SLI isn't a determining factor in whether something is optimized or not, because SLI isn't a priority. Is it nice to have support for it? Yeah; but if you're going to sit there and tell me Wolfenstein: The New Order was unoptimized...yeah, no. As well, there's plenty of games a single 980 doesn't max out. Your theory is fallacy, because you're basing it on maximum specs.

A game like Crysis 3, sure that needs two 980's and the graphics justify that but if you have a game like Unity, GTA IV and watch_dogs and you have trouble maxing out the graphics then yeah, unoptimized.

Well yeah, if you're going to list the 3 biggest sh*tcock ports ever on PC. No sh*t. However, your theory is still false, cause you base it on maximum specs.
