why is it when you stand too close to a npc they get mad at you?

today after doing some missions, i drove my convertible to the chumash shopping center, and i whipped my car into a parking spot in front of the gun store, i got out and a male npc started shoving me, i jabbed him and a nearby female npc with the broken bottle.

why are npc's so easy to provoke??

Because you invaded their personal space. Shame on you.

Solo Wing Pixy

Because everyone in Los Santos is superficial.

Hey it even states that in the loading splash screen!

Rednecks in Blane County are easy to provoke. They might pull a gun on you or dodge you when you try to hit them. Hipsters in Rockford Hills will more likely flee.

It is how the NPC's are programmed. But it is nothing a good shotgun blast in the face can cure.

Npc's react to your appearance too.

In my experience they dont enjoy the company of a maniac with a 'please stop me' killer mask...

Think about it this way...

How would you feel if some dude was standing right next to you when there is a huge open space where they could be standing?

I hate it when people run from me when I have a gun out.
it's just a tool that can kill anyone in the pull of a trigger, what's so scary about it!?

Anthropomorphic

That makes me think of that female police officer outside the hospital in the desert. She is so hostile you can barely walk pass her without attaining a star. I always provoke her when I am there

How frequently do you shower? Has your character EVER brushed his teeth? When does he use the bathroom? Seems like extremely poor hygiene may be a contributing factor.

How's that? It makes sense that NPC's would become agitated if you invade their personal space. If the NPC's had no reaction at all no matter what you did then your comment would make sense.

I just hate how you can't stand near the police and watch a shoot out between them and another player without getting a damn wanted level.

In single player the npc behavior is worse than online. I wish i had a dollar for every time i heard "someone's on the rag". Just getting near can instantly have several peds leave with all having the same movement like a drill team.

The npc behavior is one of the biggest 3 or 4 disappoints in an otherwise fantastic game. The hookers however have good social skills for interacting with.

Its because from day one we have been shooting, blowing up , punching , and running over the citizens of Los Santos , I'd be mad too.

Poor programming? Happens so often that I expect nearly every npc to start on me now. The other day I walked into a store to refil my snacks. I checked a message that I just recived and when I came back I was standing 2 blocks away missing $500. Didn't even shove the two guys at the door, just walked in normally minding my own business...

Sounds like you scared him with your car first. I do this on purpose a lot lol. If you run and bump someone they might get angry enough to try to fight you; if you bump someone into someone else, they'll fight eachother! Also, being a slimeball and slowly following (most) female NPCs will make them nervous enough to call you names then walk away from you faster lol.

Man, I love this game...

It's probably because you haven't showered since Oct 2013, OP.
