  1. 1. Will GTA V support DirectX 12 in the future?

Recommended Posts

What do you guys think?
Are they gonna make an update for GTA V to run on DirectX12 when it comes out alongside Windows 10?
It seems that DirectX12 will be a huge upgrade from 11, with a much better performance for single GPU or SLI/Crossfire

Unfortunately, no, this is Rockstar we're talking about. Only for GTA VI or their next game.

I don't know very much about the game's engine mate.

So I didn't know that the engine wouldn't support that.

they can add this dx12 support but it very difficult and unstable process

they need add dx12 support -needs make new engine binaries libraries

decompile all graphics textures ,model wireframes, shaders and sound

its like remastered whole game on new api

also dx 12 api has incredible performance boost but it will be needs much time to polishing game

It s a 2 year old game. They wont do that and it also wouldn t even be worth it.

I don't think they will change their engine so that it runs even better on Directx 12, but I can imagine that the game might run a bit better on Directx 12, even when the game is made with 11 in mind. :p

DX12 seems to be a big improvement.

DX10 games has terrible optimization.

DX11 is okay.

Best DX was DX9. Game makers still using %80 DX9. GTA V is used DX10 for old-gen consoles. R* did good optimization. PS4 and XB1 have DX11 graphics. And of-course PC will has too.

Already they coppied PC version to PS4 and XB1.

game not support 32 bit system (This Full 64 bit Rage engine is the new) how they can copied pc version on CG

it's CG version copied to the pc

just forget this build logs its came from 32 bit Rage version and now its gone

just history

GTA4 -version came with 32 bit support (old rage version)

Max Payne 3 -came with 32/64 bit support (updated old version)

Gta v coming with 64 bit support only (new version)

Unless Rockstar patches the game after DirectX 12 is released. (Hint: Rockstar never patches their old games after they start working on new ones.)

Nope.

RSX (PS3 GPU) is based on a GeForce 7800 GTX, and does not support DirectX 10.

Xenos (X360 GPU) is no different, being loosely based on Radeon X1800, does not support DirectX 10.

Interesting.

So, why the f*ck Rockstar Games want minimum DX10 G.Card ? They made their game in DX9 supported graphic cards on consoles, but PC version need minimum DX10..

Probably due to the fact that LG and CG is so different in terms of architecture. I'm sure although it's the same game (under the same name), it's very different under the hood. Probably the LG version is specifically built for LG and its DX9 limit, while PC and CG build is interchangeably used due to its similar architecture and built around DX10.

Regardless, it's pleasuring to see that developers started to ditch DX9. It's 11 years old, let it go people.

As much as we'd all want this to happen... it's not.

Paladin Goo

It probablly has a much better chance of supporting Vulkan.

Why?

If, and I really really doubt it, they go the extra mile, it won't be DX12

It was never on the Mantle list. That was reported by a clickbait site.

I found this: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200149906-2-15-12-L-A-Noire-PC-Patch-Notes-DirectX-11-support-(For those who doesn't know, it came out in 2011 on PC and patch half year later) Maybe they will update game to support directx 12 :)

Nope, too much hard work for very little gain on such an outdated engine. GTA VI may very well get DX12 support as long as it takes off as well as Microsoft are expecting it to.

GTA V is definitely DX 11 when it comes out. Crysis 2 had a DX 11 patch like 4 years ago. Couldn't R* release a patch for GTA V giving it DX12. Just like with crysis 2?

LG consoles used wierd architectures and custom APIs that slowed down development. Hopefully once Developers finally drop LG consoles and use APIs like vulkan and DX12, There will be less development nonsense.

It is not known yet if consoles will use Vulkan nor if is good as they say it is, same with DX12 performance (30% improve for XBOX 1 in some kind "special circumstances", yeah right) (I will trust OpenGL more than Microsoft)
