Watermeloen
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to play GTA V PC on Windows 10. I'm running Windows 10 at the moment, and i'm not sure if i should go back to Windows 8.1. I have doubts about two things: 1) would it even be compatible? I heard about some issues with Battlefield... 2) if it would work, would it run the same as on Windows 8.1? I'm talking about performance, due to Windows 10 still being a technical preview... Any thoughts on this?
Snowman_GTA
Do you ever play other games from Window 10? I thought all PC games only support until Window 8.1?
Watermeloen
I tried battlefield hardline on it. I totally forgot! That worked quite well... I'm more interested in a possible performance decrease due to memory leaks, etc.

Any thoughts on this? Bad Idea, why would anyone will play game like GTA 5 on Operating system, which is not completed yet ?, how can you expect it to give good performance?, Win 10 is in its BETA stage, i wonder what makes people think that a Heavy game like GTA 5 would give more performance on Operating System which is yet to be finished, The first Stable version of win 10 will be out in LATE 2015, then yes you can play but if you expect performance from GTA 5 on Win 10 Technical/Consumer Previews or other initial builts, then i have to say that "You Troll bro?" Watermeloen
I'm not trolling I was just wondering if the performance impact would be big. If it'd be like 3fps, then i wouldn't care. Also, battlefield hardline ran fine on it...
Gdog
it probably will work but windows 10 is still not finished so could be some problems. best run it on an OS that rockstar has tested the game. that would be windows 7, 8, 8.1 DlZZEE
RedIndianRobin
With DX12 set to change the revolution of PC gaming and the fact that it is only available on Win 10, I'll be playing on it only if the game supports DX12.
K.Walters
Well I would suggest Win7 or Win8, because Win10 is still a tech build. Who knows how it would run on it. or1

ALPHATT
Windows 10 will be an updat eto all 8 and 7 users. It's mostly the 8 architecture, stuff that's fine on 8 will be fine on 10, and everyone will be moved to it anyways.

The Algerian
If the applications are compatible with Windows 8.1 operating system which is a stable operating system from us then there is a very high chance that it will work with Windows 10 Technical Preview. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_perf/these-backward-compatibility-essentials-for-w10/eda7cca5-36dd-4474-a8f9-a4b74e47a8cf Not too sure about GTA V, though. No way to actually know for sure. Edited March 8, 2015 by The Algerian

Also, battlefield hardline ran fine on it... Assuming you play 60fps, 3fps is a 5% performance increase. I think that would be pretty good for just changing the OS! southparkmayor
I have windows 7, with no service pack. How will upgrading to Windows 10 be for me? Do i need to have the service pack? I tried everything to get the service pack 1, It simply refuses to install it. But anyways, how would windows 10 be implemented for me?

Un N0n
Again, I am wondering what makes people to play heavy games on Operating system which is yet to be finished I would choose windows 7 in case i want MAX out of a PC game as Win 7 is the best OS(For Gaming) till now. Spliffpanda
Win 10 TP made all my games work flawlessly, on Windows 8.1 I got random PC-reboots due to something with my GPU not corresponding correctly, but on Win 10 with the same in-game settings, that problem haven't occured. GTA V will be played on Win 10 fo-sho The Algerian
chasez
How can you NOT play it on Windows 10 if DX12 is on it? Win 8 is crap, if you decide to downgrade at least keep your dignity and go with Win7.

Fubarbrickdust
Feels like 8.1 gets some unduly bad press. Gotta say, I've been running it on my rig (which is first and foremost a gaming machine) for well over a year without any issues whatsoever. Rock solid and a great performer. In fact, the only time it's ever thrown a hissy is when I've taken the piss with an overclock. Of course, you need to be PC/OS savvy and implement the right optimisations and streamlining to get a high performing and stable rig for gaming - but that goes for any OS. The only qualm with 8/8.1 is the lack of start menu - but that's a non-issue if you're running Classic Shell. OT: I'm running W10 tech Preview on a 2nd SSD just to see - every game I've installed has played flawlessly. As it happens, I'd go as far to say GTAIV runs ever so slightly smoother...but that could've been down to any number of variables. I can't prove it so I'm not going down on record and trying to pass that off as fact. Edited March 14, 2015 by Fubarbrickdust
Ash_735
Seeing as 10 is a spruced up and fixed 8.1, then sure, should work fine, even older GTA games are working fine on 8.1 after getting the fan made patches and fixes (which Rockstar would rather ignore and let the games continue to be broken). This. NEVER had any issue with any game using Windows 8.1. I don't know what kind of games people try to play, but I've played quite a lot of games, and they all worked fine. (+ the OS is stable and very fast, even after using it for a long time). But OT: I think Windows 10 might be a plus if you wait until the final release of Windows 10. Directx 12 seems promising, and might improve the framerate of a lot of games (or at least decrease the cpu/gpu usage in some situations). I wouldn't necessarily try it on the technical preview since that OS isn't done yet, and I don't think Directx12 is added already.
