PS3 vs PS4 lag

Hey there,

 

Why's that whenever I play GTA on PS4, mainly in freeroam, I'm lagging like hell. Cars are teleporting, I have to shoot a clip or two into people, they fall on the ground, but it takes like 3-5 seconds for them to die and usually I'm the one that dies from them anyway..

 

However, whenever I log into my PS3 and play there, in a full 16 player freeroam lobby, no lag whatsoever, I kill people instantly without any lag BS..

 

I checked, both nat types on ps3 and ps4 are type 2.

 

I admit I do not have the greatest internet connection, but doesn't it mean my ps3 should lag the same as my ps4? It's also mainly freeroam lag. I can do races, deathmatches, without much issue, but when it comes to freeroam, I can't do crap, unlike on ps3..

lag... could be your internet being too slow for online or the regular R* server lag

I really believe that when using PS4/XBone need a router that supports IPv4 or IPv6.

 

Check your router setting and see it it is enabled and if your router doesn't support them, get a new router.

i play with a 15mbps internet connection with no lag at all.

I know I do, but I've been playing on ps3 since launch with no real issues. I switch to ps4 and I can't play freeroam whatsoever, whenever I get into a firefight I can't kill people at all, I shoot a full clip into their head and then I die..

 

As I said before, if my internet was THAT bad I should be lagging on ps3 as well, but I'm not..

I've had PS4 and XBone. Both lag equally.

Ya... it maybe be your connection with each other... I get this sometimes. Not all the time.

 

Theres a few players in free roam i see all the time that i try to avoid because of this. Its like fighting their shadow, they are never where they really are.

 

This started to happen alot recently. I can only think R* is trying to improve the stability between players. Guess its better then lagging out.

Yes I know it's horrible, but I've been playing with this internet on ps3 with no problems, yes there were lag here and there, but not what I'm experiencing now on ps4. Ever since I got my ps4 I just can't play freeroam, people are lagging, teleporting, not dying, which is not the case on my ps3..

dont really knwo why the focus is on speed...

 

latecy and speed arent really that connected, your ping is far more important... theres a pinned post at the top fo the help and support section called "Fixing Lag and Connection Issue" written by some wana loser who works for an ISP... id recommend you check it out as theres some good tips in there *ahem*...

 

But rather than looking at speed, look at your ping cos thats wehre latency comes from.

Am I supposed to care? Online gaming doesn't require a super fast internet connection on consoles. And I've had a great experience so far. Take your head out your arse and stop acting like a twat.

Lag is due to a ping too high! This has nothing to do with your NAT or anything other.

The problem with us Europeans is that we do not live near the servers to play in better conditions than the players of American continent because the response time is much longer.

Now when I try to access the Rockstar servers:


Strangely, I get a higher ping because I do not live nearby servers .. This can be a real handicap for players who live in very remote places. But the problem can also come servers because the full sessions are gradually overloaded if many players pilot the Lazer for example, which is very common, or many other things...but I think servers are not capable of supporting 30 players per lobby. I do not have any problems in general, but I often see players who teleport as quickly as Diablo in X-Men.

Ok so here's the tendency I noticed now.

 

When I hook up my ethernet cable, I can easily get into big lobbies and I barely get those unknown connection errors, however I have horrible lag in freeroam, especially when near other players, who keep teleporting and are unkillable for me practically.

 

However, when I go wifi, it takes a lot longer to get into lobbies, I get more disconnection errors, but I finally have no lag in freeroam.

 

I don't understand this..

 

Also, here's my usual ping..

 

 

P.S. To the people who told me to get a new ISP, this is the best that I can get in the area where I live. There's no fibre optic here and the other ISP servers are too far or whatever. Believe me I tried to get better internet. The only hope is that they will do the fibre optic sometime, but who know's when that's going to happen in my area. I'm stuck with my 2.7mb..

The fact that you're so defensive and touchy indicates that you do care. It also indicates that you're insecure and unsatisfied with your poor internet connection.

Most likely its your wifi. The session lags out when it's too many people in 5 or ten minutes when I play. 1mb of up and download speeds suck.

Apparently when you disconnect it's all to do with NAT types, but in relation to PS3 VS PS4, i sadly would have to say i lag out more on the PS4 which is quite sad to be honest, and i mean it's every time i go into a half full lobby.
