When did jets rise in popularity?

If you look on, say, this forum, Rockstar support, or any other similar site, chances are you'll bump into a good amount of threads talking about jet trolls. I'm sure we all know that these days, the jet is one of the most popular tools for griefing.

 

I don't know about you guys, but back in 2013, I hardly encountered any jet users. I've also seen posts saying that the area near Fort Zancudo was much quieter in 2013.

 

Were jets always popular? Or did the popularity of the jet start small and increase over time? When did jets start rising in popularity?

Pretty much this I'm thinking. This allowed any ol douche to go and get one. Before it was possible but a lot harder so it deterred a lot of people.

It was going on before the tank nerf, but I think it has grown a little more since then.

I started flying when tanks were extremely hard to take down...I still fly occasionally and kill a few players here and there when I'm really bored.

I don't understand. I suck at this game and have no problem whatsoever stealing a jet without any of Lester's help. It's stupid easy. I don't get why so many people ooh and ahh like it's a big deal.

 

Once I'm in said jet however, I suck at hitting anything on the ground, lol. I can hold my own in a dogfight, that's what I use jets for. I just grab one and cruise around for a while, buzz other players, knife edge between buildings, etc. Hopefully it looks cool from the ground, but w/e. Eventually, someone else will grab one and we battle for control of the skies. Maybe if they win they go on to do their jet griefing or whatever, but that's not my thing.

Well, tanks got screwed over so people have moved onto the next powerful vehicle....the jet.

 

Once the Heist update is released, expect it to be a lot worse with the Hydra and the Hind possibly entering freeroam, nothing I can't handle, but I feel bad for the newer players, honestly.

Ive been playing since day one. Jets popularity rose a day or two after the tank nerf took effect. Until then, tanks were the go to grief machine.

Even though more people now grab jets, unless they have skill, its no threat to anyone unless they are in the air. There are some really good

pilots but most will crash after a few strafe attempts.

 

Tanks need to go back to how they were when the game first came out. Really tough but able to snipe them out of it.

Did you considered Pegasus delivering the Hydra at the heliport? It is capable of vertical take-offs...

If it performs the same as the lazer, and delivered on heliport, we're all doomed.

A huge bump after the addition of 'Cops turn blind eye' and I also noticed a large bump in pilots after the flight school update. It's died down since then with the homing launcher being added. I personally only hunt bounties and blood red dots when I pilot the Lazer. If none of those are around, like someone said above, I like to buzz and stunt over other players and see what tight squeezes I can put the jet through.
