Xbox One wireless controller adapter finally coming to Windows PCs

At Microsoft's GDC conference on Wednesday, Xbox head Phil Spencer announced that Microsoft will be releasing a wireless dongle for PC later this year. The dongle will allow PC gamers to use wireless Xbox One controllers and all other wireless Xbox peripherals on Windows PCs.

It sounds like a much better solution than the "wired" controller Microsoft announced last year, which was actually just a wireless controller with an included USB cable.

Spencer didn't give a price, date, or any other details, but it's coming sometime this year.

I've been thinking about Xbox One wireless adapter a few days ago and imagined playing GTA V on my TV with the wireless controller, now I can't believe it's actually coming.. Hopefully it will be released before GTA V.

Am I the only one that likes 360 controller more than XB1 controller?
I have both of them, old white 360 wired one and XB1's with micro usb cable and I like 360 one more.

Why do you like 360 more ? Xbox One controller is a big improvement from the 360 for me, especially the triggers and the D-Pad.

Don't use wireless controllers for PC.. They are f*cking all batteries.. Select USB Xbox Controllers.

This is my advice..

I will play with keyboard and mouse most of the time, but sometimes I just wanna sit back in my sofa and use a wireless controller while playing on TV. I use controller mostly for driving, because I can give as much acceleration and steering sensitivity as I want and sh*t like that.

I honestly like the ps4 controller a lot more over the xbone's. R1/L1 feel uncomfortable and the thumbsticks feel tiny(which matter to me in fighting games and because I use Free Aim in V)

Rather use the DS4. It currently works via bluetooth and the touchpad actually works nicely as well.

IMO Xbox controllers, both X360 and X1, wasn't built for driving, but built for shooters, which MS embarked Xbox brand on. I like PS controllers more for driving.

Nah, I too like the 360 one much better.

Keyboard + Mouse = FTW!

For aiming and FPS movement, sure. But when it comes to car driving, flying, etc, especially in GTA, controllers usually work a lot better because their analog sticks and triggers aren't a simple 1 and 0 communication like a keyboard is. I couldn't stand the keyboard and mouse controls for driving and flying in GTA IV, I'd always have a 360 controller on the floor next to me.

i bought a xbone controller a year ago for this game. haven't used it yet. how naive i was... :facedesk:

personally, i'd rather use a cable and ditch the batteries to make it lighter

Wired > Wireless. The XBO uses a non proprietary connector for a reason.

I never had a problem with that, you use your controller at 10km from the adapter?

If I ever play PvP in gtao as much as I do atm on ps4, I think I will still stick to a controller or playstation move navigation controller/mouse combo.

While in most fps games, your aiming is the most important thing, in V competitive FA, aiming is not. Straffe movement while running, and also rolling triumphs above all, and I can't imagine doing some of this stuff more effectively on the keyboard, except of course the actual aiming with the mouse.

will all the controllers be compatible with pc v? and how would they work since they are all different?

360 wireless controller is by far better than PS3 and pretty much other controllers IMO. Tried them all and the 360 is good build quality for starters, made for man sized hands more so than the PS3 controller. So much so I have a 360 pad for my PS3 as well.

I can still get to the top of leaderboards easily enough in the likes of CoD and ARMA 2/3 alike with it as well, even more fun telling some KBM player you just f*cked them up using an xbox controller. ;)

I use it in combination with mouse for shooters and tend to use it on it's own for driving or flying in game, not for sims though, I use sticks, yokes or wheels for them.

I will be using it for V on my PC, just like V on my PS3. But if I can use it in combination with my mouse even better. :)

A controller/mouse combination is definitely the best. I tried using just the left half of a controller before but usually doesn't work properly when aiming or feels too weird, but that's not something the ps move navigation controller can't fix lol

Could be perfect for drive-by shootings, though. If you could just swap the triggers and accelerate with the left one.

DualShock 4 modified to have Xbox One Analogs is the best combo controller, also wonder if Rockstar will acknowledge people use DS4's on PC now too, UbiSoft have been amazing with that in letting PC gamers toggle which UI to use for controller instead of being forced to use Xbox controls.

ChumCrumpet

Avoid it. The input lag is horrible. Use a wire.

Avoid XBone controllers. Only good thing about them is that anti-sweat coating they've got or what ever it is. I had mine for a month and I used it about three times. It broke.

Stick to X360 until they release an OFFICIAL XBone PC controller.
