Crazy traffic during contact missions?

Recommended Posts

Is it just me or is anyone else feeling like the traffic in contact missions is more heavy and chaotic lately? Intersections are packed with cars. I see random NPC non enemy cars ahead of me on the road swerving left and right between lanes for no apparent reason. Maybe R* added drunk driving NPCs? Anyone else experience this?

I get this a lot in contract missions. The NPC cars just driving very erratically in general, and I have always attributed it down to connection issues and internet speeds which it definitely is. Unfortunately there isn't very much I can do about being pair'd with random guys from Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica and Singapore.

When you're getting wanted in a contact mission, NPCs turn on their madness/civil courage mode.

It's normal and a part of scripting - the same happens, when you deliver a vehicle for Simeon, they try to "accidentally" be in that spot you're supposed to cross, with gentle acceleration or braking.

That's what they getting taught at LS driving school.

Yeah, definitely more traffic on current gen. Sometimes it looks like cars speed up or slow down precisely enough to get in your way at intersections, and I can watch a car sit in one lane for my entire approach just to have them swerve in front of me at the absolute last second for exactly no reason but that it catastrophically wipes me out (not enough to just slow me down; no, it's always a body armor crushing, full stop ending with 180 deg facing and usually smashed up against some obstacle or on my roof).

Some delightful elements from have carried over tho: a minor head-on with NPC cars still makes them move forward every time you back up, so you end up reversing half a block to get free. If shots are fired, they turn into unstoppable tanks that will just drag your car backwards until they turn. It sh*ts me to tears.

No idea why R* thought we would enjoy experiencing virtual road rage.

It's not just online...

you were speeding down the middle of two solid yellow lines and face planted a guy turning left. Nothing about that was erratic but you.
