Video games that require..

Recommended Posts

a sequel.

What video game series do you feel require a sequel to save the face of the series?

In fact while we're at it what are some video games you don't feel require a sequel and should stay the way they are?

----

It's not so much of a sequel but more of a remake I feel The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct requires. The game was mediocre but it had good ideas that were given piss ass effort. If a company (pls not the ones who made it previously) were to remake the game and present a quality story and maximize the good ideas the game had and not make it so god damn clunky then I can imagine it'd be a quality game much like Dying Light (obviously much different but you get what I am saying).

A game that doesn't require a sequel? Well my friends I believe that would be Red Dead Redemption. The game was perfect and any sequel will never live up to the greatness RDR offered. Revolver and the other one were far from perfect yet RDR was the perfect sequel they required.

RDR needs no sequel as it is perfect. Also I don't think the story requires one either. f*ck John Marston, man.

That been said another game with completely different characters and and setting in the time zone would be pretty neat R* ;)

Watch Dogs. It was decent, but let's be honest here; it got a little repetitive here and there. The mission design could have used some work.

Lol. "Here and there"?

Perhaps I underestimated my post, haha. But in all seriousness, it was really monotonous playing through all of those "Take down" missions. Hopefully these issues are alleviated with Watch Dogs 2, similar to how Assassin's Creed II completely built upon the original, and was no longer repetitive.

Prey

Allthough the game itself didn't get much fanfair it was left wide open for a sequel and I still to this day cannot wait for one. Hopefully it gets taken off of hold for a third time.

Not exactly direct sequels, but here's a list of games and series that, in my opinion, need spiritual sequels:
- Bully. Who wouldn't love to see Bully 2?
- Red Dead. Rockstar San Diego have to work really hard to make something better than Red Dead Redemption in my opinion.
- LA Noire. I would love to see NY Noire. Rockstar Games has also said that they are considering what the future may hold for LA Noire as a series.
- Midnight Club. Yeah, I know, Rockstar Games discontinued the series, but I consider it the most original Racing game series ever, and has to continue!
- Manhunt. Very unlikely, but I would really like to see a third installment of the most controversial series ever.
- Half-Life. Do I really have to say something about it?
- Dino Crisis. If they don't screw it up like they did with the second one, I would receive it with a warm welcome!
- Syphon Filter. Loved the first three ones, just imagine how amazing it could be with Current-Gen graphics and modern gameplay.

Watch Dogs. It was decent, but let's be honest here; it got a little repetitive here and there. The mission design could have used some work.

Knowing Ubisoft, they surely started working on Watch_Dogs 2 even before they released the first one - haha! I'm actually surprised they still didn't announce it.

However, there was a rumor about a new Crash Bandicoot for the PlayStation 4, I think it would be pretty nice if it was true. Talking of Naughty Dog, I hope they'll make a new The Last of Us game in the future. Although it doesn't need a sequel, it has great potentials as a series.

Almost all the games mentioned already have a sequel.

Some games I would like to see a sequel of:

Psychonauts

Millenium Racer

Messiah

Knights and Merchants (some say the expansion is a sequel, but it really isn't).

Hooligans (would love to see a new version of this, could be massive fun)

Urban Chaos (Urban Chaos: Riot Response is a completely different game, not a sequel, unfortunately).

South Park Stick of Truth, was a lot of fun to play through wouldn't mind another.

Laser Arena!

Sir Michael

Although there's going to be a sequel anyway, I'll say Destiny, mainly for the lore... Unless they can add a story through DLC. There are so many loopholes regarding everything, mainly how humanity got decimated the way it looks like they did. I wouldn't mind a Vex timegate teleporting us to this "Collapse" to show us exactly what happened.

KOTOR

Mafia

Spec Ops the line not really a sequel but a prequel could work

Alpha Protocol it was a horrible game but it had a good idea behind it. Sometimes I think that Agent might be something similar to it.

Almost all the games mentioned already have a sequel

this! C'mon guys, try harder

Although the NOLF series doesn't require a third game to save the series because the first two were so brilliant, one game I would absolutely love to see is No One Lives Forever 3... but no one can find the stupid rights. No one knows who owns the series. Even the first game's remaster (which would have been much appreciated) was cancelled because of that.

f*ck half life 3, I've been waiting for nolf 3 since 2002

A sequel is the 2nd one in the series, which means that your choice has to be based on an original IP that has not yet had a sequel.

Atleast that's what I thought the point of the topic was, instead of just making another list of favorite franchises. But I probably read too much into it :p
