Issues downloading and installing GTA4

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Currently having problems with downloading and installing a game on my computer via Games for Windows Live. I have tried redownloading the game multiple times and then logging out and back in after a restart before starting the install. However, the game either goes to 5% installed and then fails to go any further or it tries to download again even though I already have all of the files downloaded and can see them in my downloads folder.

GTA4 is the only game I've tried downloading and installing so far but I imagine it would be the same situation with other games.

Any thoughts how I could fix this? I've tried reaching out to the support chat but no resolution as yet.

Cheers,

KugarWeb

This issue can be caused by one of two things (or a combination of both)- (1) It can be a problem with your internet connection-it might not be a strong enough signal OR your ISP may be down for updates for example?-I know with Cox Communications, they do downtime for system updates from time to time. OR (2) It could be your PC does not meet the minimum requirements for the game?

With that being said:

What is your ISP provider?

What is the download speed for your internet?

What is your OS (operating system)?

What is the SP (service pack for OS)?

What is your processor?

What is your processor speed?

What is the RAM?

What is the Video card?

What is the VRAM?

Is the VRAM Integrated OR Shared?

What IS the DX version?

Are ALL Drivers up to date for the Video card, Sound card, all system updates up-to-date, etc.?

Is this a new (first time install) OR a second/subsequent install (Ie. you had the game installed and deleted it and want to re-install)?

Any screen shots of errors given, etc.?

Please answer ALL the above questions for the Pinned Troubleshooting section so we can better help you with your problem. :)

***To find above system info, go to Start, Run (IF XP)/Search if Vista OR 7 OR 8) and type in DXDIAG and press Enter, the first page will show your OS, Ram, and processor info, then the Display tab will show the Video card info. ***
