Many people see the GTA:LC files and think of all the cool ways they could mod GTA III in VC's engine. Hey, we all want to have fun, right? Well just like with GTA III and GTA:VC, anybody with GTA:LC installed can mod their game to their liking however they want.

In the past, we have pushed aside all such talk because we only had the one thread to work with and that was our only way to get work done. But we want you to have fun and to be able to enjoy our work any way you like. So now you can have this thread to release your mods for GTA:LC, offer ideas, suggestions, and requests for such mods.

So what's the difference between an official mod and unofficial mod? For the most part, it's just going to be the difference between what's actually in GTA III and what isn't. If it's in GTA III, then it belongs in GTA:LC. If it's not in GTA III, then it could be an unofficial mod and belongs here.

See this post for a full list of suggestions for unofficial mods that came about as a result of a not-so-recent poll about what should be added to the official version of LC.

If your mod isn't listed here, post in this thread to make us aware of its existence.

Modding Tools:

Below is a list of some of the most common tools you'll need when it comes to installing the mods listed above. However, I also recommend you check out the Tools forum for a more complete list.

Tool | Author | Description

  • IMG Tool 2.0 | Spooky | For modifying your gta3.img file (adding, deleting, etc., files from the archive).
  • Sanny Builder | Seemann | For modifying your main.scm (customised for Liberty City).
  • Collision File Editor II | steve-m | For editing files with .col extension, which control collision data.
  • (Magic) TXD Builder | DK22Pac | Builds texture dictionaries with various settings.



PLEASE NOTE:

  • For information on how to install a mod, please contact the author via PM if a readme is not included.
  • The mods are not guaranteed to work with all versions of GTA:LC, although most should work.
  • This is a restoration topic. I'm terrible with tables, so if someone could teach me on how to restore them, please let me know.
  • Is a link dead? Let me know. If you have the mod and can reupload it, please contact me.
  • Want your mod added? Contact me.

I made two edits. First I changed the scm editor to point to Sanny Builder. And secondly, I removed the Marco's Bistro link as that's in the official version.

Hey NG, would you be able to post a couple of images of each mod, especially the Shoreside Bridge, and Interstate Highway?

Like Silent said, anyone can now make topics on this forum. I'd still have the power to edit if I needed to. And if a more "active" forum member wanted to take ownership of a specific topic, I would be happy indeed.

Just saying - I'm working on a small mod that replaces all gangs with new models, using final VC models but retextured. If it's done, can it be included here?

Alright - I need someone to take some pictures of it only. I only made reskins of one member per gang, and didn't touch the Hoods. It's because I didn't have any ideas for them.

Seems fine for me, maybe it's a problem of yours.

I wonder if you can add a mod I'm in the process. It's simple: convert models from XBOX to the game. This is (for now) models pedestrians, and the main characters.

Working on something for LC. Still early and I'm now happy with its current progress but it'll be done soon enough. Will post a DL link in the OP when finished.

Drag everything from the RAR and drop it next your gta-lc.exe(Confirming the replacements).


Description:

This Mod ports the GTA 3 NATURAL HD TEXTURES to GTA:LC(Mod for VC), It includes some additions from me that is some XBOX TEXTURES.


Includes:

- Dingleman's work.
- Xbox Claude Textures on Original PC Claude.
- Some more MAP textures(from XBOX).
- NEWS.txd and SPLASH.txd(s)(from XBOX to PC MOD(by Rim)).
- All HUD icons from XBOX to PC MOD(by yojc).
- Xbox Particles(includng Dingleman's Changes).
- Xbox Wheels.


Removed features from Dingleman's work:

- Weapons Icons(Changed to Xbox).
- Ammunation Icon(Changed to Xbox).


Not Done:

- Fonts(GTA LC uses new format)
- Road Textures.(GTA III uses generic.txd, GTA LC uses Different method)
- Menu Background.(III' menu is different)

Did you actually get a permission from Dingleman to publish this? Even if you did, you've published a lot of work from other authors without giving them credit.
A lot of things you claim you've taken from Xbox, are actually being taken from Xbox mod. And as you may or may not know, several people have contributed to it.
- Some more MAP textures(from XBOX).

- NEWS.txd(from XBOX).
> Nope, I've done that from scratch for Xbox mod. Same goes with splash screens.
- All HUD icons from XBOX.
> *Xbox mod. Also that's entirely yojc's work.
- Xbox Particles(includng Dingleman's Changes).
> Only a handfull of textures are actually from the xbox version (explosions, splashes and flames). The rest are either Dingleman's or mine.
And yes, you did write me a pm asking for permission to use textures for your LCS2VC mod, but I've only checked my inbox today. Looks like you didn't even bother waiting for a response and decided to submit this mod anyways. Not cool.

About Xbox Textures, one of my friend gave me them and said that they are from Xbox, So I didn't knew..Sorry again..How would I know? He's been fooling me..(You would say why did I write Special Thanks to Rim then because I took your Splash.txds myself)

I like how you changed the intro skin with the heist suit, quite a nice replacement since the intro uses a different Claude model. But it does feel weird with only Niko using the balaclavas.
