What possibly can change in 3 weeks?

Recommended Posts

What can possible change in 3 weeks that even warrants another delay? you have to mass press and ship copies and that takes time.. In the life cycle of a project 3 weeks isn't much at all. They would be better off to release on the 24th and do a patch if any 3 weeks later on the 14th.

In the grand scheme of things, nothing. But 3 weeks is a good amount of time to comb through, check for bugs and make sure the game is... well... "polished"

These 3 weeks are probably because R* bit off more than they can chew. Needed a bit of extra time to make sure there are no bugs since they've kept us waiting so long, if it was covered in bugs they'd never live it down.

Totallycasual

It would have been a matter of simple math, some accountant said we're still selling X amount of PS4+Xbox1 copies per day but that will significantly drop when the PC version is released, knowing that most PC fans of GTA are going to patiently wait no matter how much Rockstar pisses all over us they just keep delaying the release.

I believe its all about margins and nothing to do with polish.

A change in three weeks to the game code would have to refer to something pretty major, like trying to solve the various connection issues on New-Gen consoles.

I do not think the problem is 100% related to us, but more likely trying to solve that. It held the Heists release up a few weeks and now we are held up a few weeks to ensure we are separated from the Heists material release and to check the fix is stable and tested, before we arrive to add extra load on the servers.

IMO this game would be ready for 24 March release but: http://ir.take2games.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=86428&p=irol-newsarticle&ID=2013202

Take2 fiscal year ends on 31 March. They want to keep this title until next fiscal year ;) . That's just my theory ;) . R* will probably spend this time at testing the game and fixing small bugs :) .

Just how many more threads we gotta have people asking this? ...Each time game gets delayed, people start asking why it is moved to that specific date/month! Drop it already people...the point of finding it out is like - 0 now...

Thats not accurate. The initial delay was two months from jan to march which is more in line with the polishing argument. The second delay is only 3 weeks when we all know the game takes 3 weeks to copy and press.

which is why I agree with this. The game will be done and ready on march 24 but the delays is for Take 2 and the books. This actually makes alot of sense now.

Nothing. This delay, in my opinion, was nothing more than to give the consoles (their clear priority) a period of exclusivity for the heists, and their hope is to lure a few impatient people into buying the game for consoles to play them straight away before buying the game again on PC.

In short, they're milking this game for all it's worth before releasing it for PC.

A few bug fixes and those latest, really latest touches.

People must be crazy saying you can't do sh*t on 3 weeks, they will keep testing it, developing it, and bugs are always being found and this will keep happening after the release date, and until they want to give us support...

I don't think 3 weeks would make any HUGE or GREAT differences, but minor bugs and annoyances, why not?

At least a few issues would be fixed, small things, nothing that important.

These things are absolutely unpredictable.

- "More polishing" in 3 weeks makes no sense to me, but maybe they're working on something but can't finish it in time.

- Fiscal year is another reason for delaying it but 3 weeks of delay is too "obvious" for the community.

- Heists and console milking could be, but again their studio(s) is big and able to deal with multiple projects at one time.

- Another incoming delay could also make it to a reason, but why only 3 weeks, they could have delayed it to May-June, and then delay it even more.

No Rockstar isnt able to deal with multiple projects at one time

Still no Grand Theft Auto Online Heists, Grand Theft Auto V for PC or a new game for 2014/2015

They only got 1k employees and sh*tty management

Bug testing and fiscal reasons mainly. It probably wasn't even Rockstar's decision. If it was a move to release the game in the new fiscal year, then Take Two is almost certainly to blame because Rockstar doesn't give a sh*t when they make their money as long as they make it, but investors and the board of directors do.

this is what went down with r* bosses and the devs:

r* bosses: whens the game ready for print?

devs: not finished yet, needs polishing

r* bosses: so whens it going to be completed?

devs: week of march 24th

r* bosses: thats when its release day

devs: we know

r* bosses: sh!t, so you'll have it ready for print for end of the month?

devs: yes

r* bosses: good, we'll set release date for 2-3 weeks after.

This is the most plausible reason i've seen in this forum.

focusing on dlc for console,pc version maybe delayed again..

3 weeks is a lot of time for a 1,000 man team of employees working on a single game.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/rockstar-more-than-1000-people-made-gtav/1100-6415330/

Lets say each employee works on the game for 8 hours a day, but we'll make it 6 to make room for breaks, etc. That's 90 hours per employee of work that can be done in 3 weeks, based on a 5 day week. 1000*90 = ~90,000 hours of work that can be done to the game.

To put that into perspective for you, there is only 8760 hours in a whole year. Yes "3 weeks isn't much at all"...
