Will be there more universes in the GTA series?

The title says it all, will be there more universes in future Grand Theft Auto games? For example, will Grand Theft Auto X be placed in the, lets call it, SuperMegaUltra HD Universe? Leave your opinions!

No, I think that the HD universe will continue as, well, the HD universe.

 

With GTA V on PC allowing 4K support, yet still staying in the 'HD Universe' I think it's safe to say that this will be the main timeline that Rockstar will use.

 

You also have to factor in that, were Rockstar to create a brand new universe, the characters that we currently have wouldn't exist. That means that everything Niko worked for, every bank and shop that Michael robbed, every single person that Johnny killed, would have gone to waste. I don't think that would be a good idea to just create a new universe and completely forget about the HD Universe's characters. That would be a big slap in the face.

Well, that's exactly what they did when they created the HD Universe. All the things from the 3D Universe are now lost.

I don't think that would be a good idea to just create a new universe and completely forget about the HD Universe's characters. That would be a big slap in the face.

With the HD universe, Rockstar has created two large and realistic environments that truly capture the essences of their respective cities and surrounding areas. I don't believe they will change universes, but add on, as they have three more cities that still need to be implemented in the HD universe.

San Fierro, Las Venturas and Vice City? I would also like to see a modern version of Anywhere City.

Who knows if they'll stop there? Many fans want new locations like Chicago and Detroit, which some may consider to be Carcer City.

We'll eventually see the multiverse that is being guarded by Dan Houser's giant head. Then it eventually gets attacked by the Anti-Houser (who is responsible for Johnny's death and chrome Adders) and all the living protagonists from the 2D, 3D and HD Universe go battle him, and in the process the universes get destroyed and melded into a single universe where all the protagonists live together, locations become composites of their various counterparts, Johnny and Vic are resurrected and various backstories get cosmically retrconned. The only one to actually remember the existence of the multiverse is Claude, who unfortunately cannot tell anyone about them because he's mute (and he forgot how to write).

I think they should make more "stories" games set in the 3d universe, they don't have to be great projects but maybe a dlc on the side with some missions (liberty city stories and vice city stories is what I mean, and I don't think they'll be making many more psp/ vita exclusive Gta games

There will be new universes, it's only natural. Most players will eventually get tired of the characthers, the city, the game engine will be outdated, etc and so a new universe will have to be created to fulfill the desire for a new adventure in a new place with new characthers.

The question is when it will happen.

I just hope a new city will be used as a setting (even better if it's outside the USA)

I think GTA VI will continue in the HD universe, but starting with GTA VII it will be a clean slate.
