Will GTA O on PC be moddable ?

Recommended Posts

I`ve tried asking R*. But, they don`t seem to want to answer anything about it. I guess.. yes or no is too complicated.

For me.. if im going to buy the game again.. on PC. It will be for the mods.. single player and online.

Anyone else in the same boat as me and just waiting till after release to see how restrictive this game is online?

I would think that you couldn't mod online.. that would not be fair to others...

How would it not be fair?

Uhh.. Speed hacks, invinciblity, unlimited ammo, money glitches, everything shoots explosive bullets, JB700 that fires tank shells...

All possible with modding on consoles. So imagine what can be done on PC?

Im talking about ....REAL MODS... Sheesh.

Why does everyone have to go to the.. OMG HES USING CHEATER GOD MODE SUPER HACKS.

Real mods to me..have nothing to do with cheating or being overpowered.

For the record im talking about real mods.... Not kiddie cheater mods.

New skins.. missions...areas, interiors.. etc.

It doesn't matter, you can't have one without the other

Yes you can..... L4D2 is a perfect example of this.

Most of the 'cheater' mods can't be used on most dedicated servers.. But all custom skins, maps, music...can.

Besides... Auto aim is one of the worst cheater mods around... And it already exists in this game as an option.

'REAL MODS...' will also cause issues and incompatibilities online. Say you've replaced some crappy beater with a Ferrari and added physics to match. Suddenly you've got a huge advantage. You replace a 4 door car with a 2 door. What happens when someone tries to get in the back? It's also incredibly difficult for them to block 'CHEATER GOD MODE SUPER HACKS' and keep 'REAL MODS'. You used L4D2 as an example. But that's very different. All mods are server-side on L4D2, you download the map as you join if you don't have it, and everybody is playing with the same mods. GTA Online is different as there aren't server side mods, nor set servers. So you can't necessarily join the 'LC Map Mod' server, you'll just join GTA Online, map mod or not.

Short answer: No online mods. You can mod SP all you want, but chances are those mods will either block you from joining online, or they'll be deactivated when you go online.

Hopefully not, mods would bring even more chaos to the already hectic GTA Online world.

As mentioned above, even "normal" mods will cause compatibility issues and freezing, I'm willing to put money on an anti-mod system, but it's Rockstar so....who knows?

I really doubt Rockstar would let you do that.

But just wait. There will be someone who make the game into "Offline" and you can do mods through 3rd party multiplayer software.

If R* is smart. Not only would they allow it. They could also use some of the better created content for consoles as free updates..

But you're probably right about waiting to see what happens.

Mods are so easy to use now. Especially if R* allows it via steam workshop. Which makes modding pretty easy.

Anti cheating.... ok. I get that. But im talking about real mods here. Which has nothing to do with any sort of cheating.

Why do you feel the need to take a group of individuals hard work, over multiple YEARS and dedication and simply 'mod' it to your liking because...what? It's not good enough for ya? Pffft, what a sad overtold joke...😧

Reality checks are desperately needed.

Dear lord... The consoles kids are so one sided.

Does this look like its a slap in the face to a game dev? Or a true work of art that was made thanks to what the game devs have given them?

Check that out..

Then read above, "Real" mods will also have issues due to compatibility and the fact that I doubt they'd let folks simply mod sessions as they please.

Auto aim and free aim are separate lobbies.

But.. you don't know this..

I've used mods for GTA 4 online... Didn't have any problems.. Why would this be any different?

GTA IV was only a peer2peer game with no persistence, how are the cloud servers going to deal with saving things when you have custom skins and cars, etc. It won't be able to handle it .. and as there is a money element involved as well, I don't think they will allow modding of on-line.

I don't work at Rockstar, but it's common f*cking sense, yeah?

Simply take a look at Rockstar's recent approaches to modding online, Max Payne 3 had an "Iron Wrapper" to prevent this and they've openly banned people for modding on Consoles. (They don't do it often, but they DO take action)

GTA Online is their baby at the moment, why would they all of a sudden drop all their stands against Online modding? Especially as it'll be easier on PC.

Im talking about real mods tho... Not cheating mods.

Mods that only i see in my game.. Because the mods persist on my screen and in my headset only. And if others want to use it.. they need to get the same ones.

None of the mods can be detected by any sort of anti cheating software because they would not be a CHEAT.

if anything... I see players busting the game open.. Allowing players to play in their own servers and then modding the sh*t out of it. Any true game dev loves seeing what true modders come up with. Just because its their baby does mean they don't want any modding done..

Maybe someone makes a GTA Online Mod where you can host dedicated servers and add mods , would be so cool

Im hoping so..

I mean. i bought the game for 360.. Then the xbone version too.. I've played this game everyday.. I own everything i want.. I've done and seen it all.. Except for Heists.

Modding to me is the only reason to buy this again on PC. So i can't wait to see what people can do.. If they can actually do anything.

People need to stop comparing GTA 4 Online to GTA Online. They are two different things that have almost nothing in common.
