The irony arises when you realise you're on a forum about a game that was in fact made in the UK, and owned by the U.S.

Free Aimers play in the same lobby as free aim assisted players.

Anyone that plays straight free aim has a huge disadvantage going up against someone behind cover with assisted on.

Thank you for that, I was wondering about that! I've been using the Free Aim setting and created the posted under that light and not Assisted FA.

I switched to free aim when I moved to Xbox One and the change has been......difficult. Im trying but the aiming is just so sloppy no matter what my settings are. The terminator NPC's are also a pain in the ass.

Auto aim: pros
-casual

If you're good at Free Aim you get bragging rights, on the other hand Auto Aim has no rights.

^ these are the cancerous epeen jerk offs that inhabit free aim..

Excuse my dumb question. How do i join FA lobbies? I just started playing on ps4 after not playing for 1or2 years. I do find it quite boring doing missions with AA because u just hide,point,shoot repeat..

Load into the content creator or single player, and go to the controls options screen. There should be an aiming preference option.

The honor of free-Aim on next-gen systems have been rendered pointless ever since R* introduced 'Free-Aim Assisted' players to play on the same server as those who select only 'Free-Aim'.

 

Why would you play on a server where an assisted free-aim player can snap-point aim on you when you can't while using free-aim only?

Why would you play on a server where an assisted free-aim player can snap-point aim on you when you can't while using free-aim only?

This is the biggest f*ckup I saw from their part.

They should remove Traditional GTA all together (and keep Assisted Aim, just rename it to TG), and make Free Aim: Assisted and Full Free Aim separated. I can't believe they made that choice.

After reading this.. I switched to Free Aim assisted and could not join a friend who was in Free Aim... Nor could he join me.

 

 

I had to use free aim to join free aim... Switching to Free Aim assisted plopped me in a free aim assisted game.

 

 

So i doubt theres a mix...

Yes.... Both myself and my friend tried to join each other.. It would not let us unless we switched our aim choice. Which meant the prompt screen always popped up asking if we want to change aim.

 

So im not sure how free aim assisted players are joining free aim players. Because i can't.

Last night i put on a hockey mask, grabbed the hatchet and went chopping down low level newbies for fun in free aim.

 

They loved it... Sure they killed me a few times.. But i hacked them up real good too... But the entire time they where laughing or freaking out about it.

 

After it was done... We did some missions together and I helped them gain a few levels and pile up some cash. Good times :D

@HulioG: Thanks for doing that test with your friend regarding the Free Aim/Free Aim Assisted issue.

 

I made a post on the rockstar forums after reading #UpgradeOrDies's comment and the only comments i got agreed with him. Rockstar didn't respond obviously :)

First Person + Free Aim 100%

 

I prefer free aim, for it takes skill to hit a target rather than using an aim bot.

 

Things that piss me off about Assisted Aim:

-auto locking onto to a concealed opponent that in free sim you prob wouldn't have even known was there

 

-Locking onto every target but the intended one in some situations. For example killing in a FR and having a million cops a couple friends and some enemies around you. You'll prob lock onto a cop or friend before you do the actual target.

 

I'd rather just aim down my sites and shoot what I'm aiming at rather than having assistance.

 

Aim assist is for people that, let's face it can't hit the broad side of a barn, and need all the help they can get.

Free Aim Assisted players become Free Aim once the lobby is joined.

 

PS Free Aim Assisted is just as bad as Auto Aim and is an oxymoron. It should be called something else.

They can't Free Aim and Free Aim Assisted are on separate servers and can't co-mingle on the same server.

 

If you're getting owned in a free aim servers it's because your opponent is a good player with awesome aiming.

Go back to single player change aim to free aim in settings, this will become your default aiming type.

 

Then when you go back online you will be on a free aim server.

Yea, I wanted to clarify to all that we weren't talking about an error in joining his friend but in fact it was the aiming preference that was keeping them from joining eachothers session without a notification.

 

As for the Free Aim Assisted option, I guess it could be a good stepping stone for someone that truly wants to put in work in becoming a legitimate Free Aimer. But cheap for those that may be advertising themselves as Free Aimers but are truly Free Aim Assisters.

I switched to free aim when I moved to Xbox One and the change has been......difficult. Im trying but the aiming is just so sloppy no matter what my settings are. The terminator NPC's are also a pain in the ass.

I spent allot of time at the gun range tweaking my settings and as a result increased my ability to hit 30 targets with pistol random target challenge to 37 targets.

 

Steps I took:

 

- Use a higher aim sensitivity but use what feels best for you

 

- Turn Dead Zone off completely for the higher the value the more time in milliseconds delay you will have from when applying movement to the controller than when it actually registers.

 

- Experiment with Look Acceleration, the higher the value the faster the turning radius will reach max velocity when pressing the thumb stick. I prefer a low setting around 3 clicks. It speeds up just enough but won't have you speed up so much you zoom past your intended target.

 

Also adjust you look sensitivity while not aiming.

 

I mainly used random targets test then the other 2 intermittently to see how I could engage straight lines of targets.

 

Once you have a good feel run some missions or do a free roam and then make some final tweaks outside the gun range.

 

It's important to test what you've changed when engaging moving real targets at various distances and angles to see if you adjusted your settings well.

 

Try several Gang Attacks for that's a great way to test your aim settings!
