Quitters

I find it ironic how the OP's avatar is none other than Albert Einstein and he once mentioned one of my favourite quotes 'You never fail until you stop trying' haven't you just have just answer your own question, perhaps people get disconnected or they want to race in a lobby with fewer people, it most certainly does not mean they are a quitter. Myself personally i rarely race, isn't that why The Crew is on PS4 ?

Losing the race gives way less money/reputation.

It also doesn't count towards unlocking parts if you lose, which is the only reason I can imagine myself actually playing Races.

do people still do races to unlock parts?

all you need is charles + ifruit and like 200k for the upgrades!

install the upgrades on any car without going through the win 50 races ordeal!

Is this for real? well then I may just start a new toon as doing all the races was the biggest deterrent to me

I only quit those races that only ONE racer(usually the guy who made the track) can win.

in those cases I used to jam the gas pedal button and slap a wrist band on the analog stick so my car would drive in circles while I went to make coffee, take a dump or do some other stuff, just to piss the winner off. Now I just quit them because it's just not worth the time...

How do you know you can't win if you just drive in circles or quit?

I think that quote is the very essence of this thread.

Quitters are failures, losers are not.

Totallycasual

I have only quit one race and that's because it was me up against an entire crew and they were trying to have one particular guy win so the rest of the crews efforts were aimed at putting me into a wall whenever i got to the front.

Listening to some random breathing into his microphone and his TV in the background makes me want to quit too, why the f*ck isn't there a mute all option? I'm so sick of listening to random sounds from people, not once have i ever head the chat functionality used for game play, its always just some schmuck who doesn't know his mic is turned on. *rage*

In what universe can my Voltic do 2.5 miles in 15 seconds so that I don't get DNF?

I don't know what races you're racing in that you could get that far behind.

i was sure you got a sh*tty token payment of a grand or so. The answer would be to use another car to race with...even a stock entity is faster than a voltic...I dont care how technical the track gets, any straight-aways and the coil's beat...even on gentle curves...also if you do get a good overly technical course (i have a few) then the road surface is rarely good enough to use the whole road in the voltic as you just jump and flip. Its a pretty useless car, even though i do like it.

You don't get any payment for races with more than x amount of players. I think 8?

I can handle myself well in off road technical with a Voltic, thank you very much. Only people who are hell-bent on lowering the Voltic then driving it like a Zentorno can manage to repeatedly flip it over.

People that quit to preserve their win loss ratio have to realize that R* made it so now when you quit you receive a loss, so you might aswell stay and earn some RP and cash

I didn't know that R* made this change and apparently neither do most players, because I still see guys quitting if they get behind.

Do players quitting still affect the winners pay out?

I actually quit a race today. Someone on my friends list invited me to a race. They set it to GTA and proceeded to blow me up as I streaked away in the lead. You don't do that to friend and I don't race GTA races anyway. Quite race, deleted them from friends list. All my problems were fixed.

TeamMate, my point was that it isn't competitive in any real races (you say off road technical...in a super!? Or you mean off road tyres?). I personaly think each class should be broken down into two seperate classes (like A/B) with the top cars in one and the 'never going to win' cars in the other - Coil Voltic, Vapid Bullet, Pegassi Vacca etc - this way theres an actual point in using these cars in races. Currently they're only good against bad racers.

That's your opinion, Strachan.

And yes, off road technical in a super. I take it it's a foreign concept to you Zentorno/Turismo/Adder/Entity drivers, your top speed being completely useless in a technical off-road race and all.

EDIT: Although it makes sense to avoid road courses that even a Voltic would win. I mean, that would suck, watching your Pegassi lose to a supercar with the same top speed as a Faggio.

i dunno who you intended that for, you may like my garages - there isn't a single garish chrome monstrosity among them. My only super is the Cheetah as its the only one in the top bunch I like the look of and like the way it drives. I had a vacca and it sure is a nice car but I didn't drive it often enough - there's no point against people in the other cars as we all know.
Ok, at first I had visions of jumps and rocky climbs, water-fording etc when you said off-road technical but I think I know what you mean now - dirt roads as opposed to completely off road?
I prefer track racing using the roads but each to their own...if you're on 360 I would like to try a few of your tracks against your voltic in my Cheetah - just for friendly competition of course.

Oh and for the record I like the Voltic and the Elise that the car it's based off is based off.

Coil's basis is arguable. Of course it does look like a Lotus, but the manufacturer makes it seem like it's based on Tesla, which in turn uses Lotus bodies.

I never liked road racing. Feels too NFS Shift, and personally that game kinda sucked. Off-road technical is yes, just using dirt roads. What you described is off-road in general, or rather off-road tracks made by randoms who would also make jump ramps in road races. I normally just partake in the dirt races my crew sets, since their off-road tracks rarely have jumpy stuff, mainly because it's meant for muscle cars.
