Second Character?

Hi.

 

 

So as of posting this, my main character is Rank 125. I got a lot of vehicles I like, clothes, etc. I'd like to unlock more stuff, but as far as I know, there is no more rank unlocks past 120. So I was thinking I could make a second character. But is it worth it? Is it worth having to go all the way to Rank 120+ again, getting all that money, etc.? Is it worth starting from the bottom and going up again? I'd like to hear your opinion.

Nope that took too much time to get to level 120 but that alt has garages of adders. so its still useful sort of.

Of course it is. You get to share $ and you get 30 more spots for cars if you're into that sort of thing. Plus you can play as a female or male and get access to gender specific unlocks like hairstyles, beards, and clothing.

 

Gives the game more variety and spices things up a bit. Plus I liked the challenge of getting my 2nd toon built up. My main toon is Rank 235. Second is 99.

Personally, I enjoyed going back and being a lowbie again - but the race unlocks were a real grind the second time around.

 

That said, there's no way I'd do it a third time - so glad they let us transfer our stuff to current gen.

You don't NEED to rank your second character up to 120, you can just enjoy the process of actually playing missions and other activities. Save the accomplishements and achievements/ collections for the first character.

 

Instead, just save your money for getting only the things you want, since you alredy know what you like and don't like, from having bought things on your first.

 

If you're creative, having a second character allows you another opportunity to develope another story, theme, persona, etcetera. That is, if you get that into.

I'm creating a second character as soon the PC version launches. I'm looking forward to grinding RP, not just cash like I do with my main. Plus you can unlock new clothing and stuff if you make it the opposite gender.

Yup. For starters, I created mine back in the days of only having one property, so that basically opened up 20 PV slots (if I'd have had the space sooner, I'd have gotten a Roosevelt last year - goddammit...). Now I've got room for 60 rides, which is pretty darn spiffy - I've only just hit the 30-car mark recently (31, specifically), and while that's only 16 and 15 PVs for each character, I wouldn't be able to have all those without creating char #2.

 

Other than that, there is the added novelty of unlocking everything again - gives things a sense of progression, even if it's just the same stuff (helps if you swap gender for your 2nd character - means you're unlocking different clothing items, which adds to the feeling of 'newness'). That, and limiting what's available, from services and weapons, to missions - not having a tank, or Merryweather pickup choppers, or a grenade launcher, or being able to play any Martin missions straight away - might force you to play stuff that you'd otherwise ignore on a high-level character with everything unlocked. Should be even easier to progress nowadays, given that mission payouts are generally better (Gerald missions no longer pay chump change, for one!).

Main downside is unlocking things like awards/rewards, and particularly car upgrades - unless you want to trade wins, you're going to have to commit to racing, and put in a lot of hours for all of 'em... Unless, of course, that's the kind of long-term goal that actually keeps you invested in playing, in which case, more power to ya!

My way of thinking when I first started back in 2013 was have one male, one female.

male character now at rank 149, female at 150, don't think R* would open a 3rd slot, but you never know.

I'd start to play another character if they did though.

I made a second character for next gen, but after around an hour, I gave up. I don't have the attention span to work up ranks. Hell, I can barely pay attention long enough to earn $100,000. I'm sure it would be worth it to some, but I just don't feel like it.

I made a 2nd character the other night, i thought the money it had in the bank was simply due to collectors edition so i purchased an apartment+car then after an hour i didn't like the character so i deleted it and went back to my main only to discover our funds were shared and my bank account was empty lol

 

Thankfully someone from Rockstar gave my money back, i wont be doing that again.

I just boosted the race unlocks for the second character with a friend, but yeah, it was worth it in the end.

At rank 140 is the definite stop for unlocks, at around the 130+'s you can carry more armor, (iirc) and I started playing on my second character when I hit 250.

I've made a second character twice, and both times got bored with it and deleted the second. I worked hard on my first character to unlock things and rank up, so starting over just isn't for me.
