Time to improve it, not by adding neighbourhoods and such, but simply doing some bug fixes around.

This is looking really awesome. Forgive my ignorance but I was aware SOL was running on a modifed gtavc.exe back in the day. Is this moved onto the SA engine now since there's jet's etc I'm assuming this is the case.

 

Sorry if it seems a stupid question but I remember Keith informing everyone that the SA map limits were virtually impossible to crack and there was an IMG limit also in force at some point or another.

Use fastman92's LA.

This isn't the classic SOL you've heard of. This map would be much bigger.

We're using SA ofcourse, and the map boundairies are hacked, including ID limits. We can use 40.000 extra models/textures without a difference. All that thanks to fastman92's limit adjuster.

Right now I'm starting on a bug-fixing rampage around VC.

 

The plan:

 

-Optimizng the map. Right now I'll start to fix bugs in VC, as NTAuthority never payed any attention to the issues that were left behind. For example: Missing collisions, missing textures, collision bugs, and most important of all, it causes crashes. All will be fixed.

 

-Converting LC and MLL. These two aren't left behind, I'll share some nice screenshots once I'm finished.

The issue here is: Generics. Trees, props, and other stuff. Once i'm finished, we'll have a nice LC port, and we'll optimize it aswell. Then, we've got something nice to be proud of. 4 maps would be combined; MLL, LC, SA, and VC.

However, the CC conversion will be a standalone mod, but it will be included in Underground.

SCM coding. Also, here's the trainyard:

I haven't added Bullworth yet. IMG Factory 2.0 would probably include Bully IMG support, as well as new features to help me extract the maps.

IMG Factory 1.0 is already available for download, i've used it since february (because Mex needed people to test the tool for him so he could fix bugs faster), mainly to add new maps to Underground.

Bully IMG should be suported by IMG Factory, I think, because it´s the same format as VC one.

It will be. Once Mex returns in 3 months. However I had to wait 3 months for him to write a correct dff converter.... So I guess itll be done in 6 months.

We've got a new member on the team, Jeansowaty!

 

He'll do textures for Mario's good-looking peds.

I'm glad he's here, hopefully you guys are too.

well I mean it wouldnt look bad to have the original LC map with a few cosmetic changes...

 

like the construction being done for Love's tower in Staunton Island
and maybe working on the mall aswell... its split up into 2 buildings with a second floor access... some of the stores could include
- Sumo Electronics Store (Sumo is a GTA III Electronics Manufacturer)
- Didier Sachs Clothing Store (Possibly on the second floor)
- Zip Clothing Store
- Ranch Clothing Store
- Curve Electronics Store (Possibly could be a Game Store selling In Universe Games like Pogo the Monkey)
- Kevin Clone (Featured in GTA SA & LCS on Billboards and an Inaccessible Store much like Ranch)
- A food court (The DJ from Head Radio in GTA III mentions doing a show in the food court at the Mall)

Could You The Warriors or Driv3r maps? :)

Going to be useful, though. I did try to model it not to long ago, however I never finished it.

Mod Update #2 - Great news

Today I have been thinking about the current ID layout. It's great and all, but since fastman92 has switched to _int32 base file IDs instead of _uint16 base file IDs, this opens up many possibilities. I've been messing around with our ID Shifter tool, and got it to shift all SA generic IDs automaticly. Everything thats not in the IDE file would remain untouched. This allows us to see the needed generic objects, and it allows us to do LC/MLL faster. This is great news, and we're not there yet, there's more :)

I can check the IPL files and give me a list of missing files, this way, I can comment them and see what models are missing. This allows us to convert them, and add them in.

This also opens the possibility to add in vehicles. Yes, that's right, a ton of vehicles, peds, and weapons. We have 65535 IDs available, so we won't run out of space very soon :)

 

I'm confirming that Bullworth will be on GTA Underground later on.

But, dont get too exited yet. I won't add it yet. I need to wait untill Mex starts coding again, when he does, I hope to see new improvements in his tool IMG Factory. Bully IMG file support, sounds nice already. It would allow us to extract the Bully map and convert it to SA. And, there's even more.. Adding Bully peds maybe? Who knows... Right now, to get a sneak peak at the actual mod files so far (latest alpha build for team members)

The CC stuff is missing because we are porting the CC tc to Underground once it's finished.

I've also worked on binary ipl files for VC. Took me 3-5 hours.

For the Stories version.

Yes, that's right. The Stories version is coming along aswell. Red and Daniel are both working on VCS, and we might even port it to RAGE, who knows.

We've done some work aswell, LCS is quite finished I'd say, some small bugs to be fixed I'd say.

 

Now we'll start on VCS, and I sure hope Red has got something nice for us all :)

Because we can shift generics, we can extract III generics and make them work for LCS. Props/generics won't change their position over 2-4 years, so it should be fine.

Probably yes :)

We'd like to add in the original buildings in MLL (as the ghosttown GTA3 version is blended in with MLL), our ghosttown would be a small town. (I didn't confirm this yet!)

will you people add upstate liberty, that could have the ghost town as a little town with the only purpose of it is to have a bank :)

The Ghosttown bank is located in MLL. I don't feel like adding two duplicates of the same thing.

Upstate Liberty will be added. I confirmed that before. As well as Ghosttown as a small town.

 

Some other stuff:

 

I've taken a look into collision issues that I totally forgot about. I've quickly fixed it. Having duplicates is probably the reason behind this issue.

I was too busy with either converting CC levels, or doing other small fixes.

I'll try to make the map ID range start at 10.000, with our current setup, the map would only use 21436 IDs. Even with LC, VC, SA, MLL, generics, interior files, CC, but without Bullworth.

 

About Bullworth, I've got a strategy in mind to quickly export the Bullworth map. Once we've got the files extracted, it might be time to assemble the map together in 3ds max, and then we could split it up into many pieces, and the only thing left to do would simply be exporting the meshes to SA format. If we don't find any issues it won't take that long. If we do, which is likely, it's best to be patient.

 

Big mods like this require time and thinking, and a good team of developers ofcourse.

-Weapons and cars will be added to the game.

-SA features around the map.

-A stable map with original R* content.

--Changing the maps will happen in possible later releases. Beta 1.0 will only include cities.

-Traffic in all maps (?) **Depends

 

Things that aren't coming in beta 1.0:

-Multiplayer

-Hunting(?)
